Definitions
- the invention relates to an erection wheelchair, in particular a collapsible erection wheelchair, with a chassis with two main wheels and two steering wheels and a seat and erection frame which is mounted on the chassis and can be pivoted relative to the chassis about an axis of rotation and which consists of a seat, backrest and footrests, the footrests being articulated on the seat such that they rest on the floor when the chair is in the upright position, and with an actuator which articulates the backrest to the chassis in order to hold the backrest in its upright position in any position of the chair.
- a collapsible erection wheelchair with a chassis with two main wheels and two steering wheels and a seat and erection frame which is mounted on the chassis and can be pivoted relative to the chassis about an axis of rotation and which consists of a seat, backrest and footrests, the footrests being articulated on the seat such that they rest on the floor when the chair is in the upright position, and with an actuator which articulates the backrest
- EP-A-0 018 101 has disclosed a collapsible wheelchair in which the side frames of the combined bogie and seat frame essentially consist of two telescopically telescopic elements which make it possible to keep the wheelbase different in size. Furthermore, attachment points are provided at two different locations on the side frame, at which either a large or a small main wheel can be attached. Since the described literature relates only to an ordinary wheelchair and thus does not have a seat and erection frame separate from the chassis, it does not provide a solution for adapting an erection chair to different body sizes. The same applies to US-A-4 082 348, which also shows a collapsible wheelchair.
- the seat can be adjusted in height by being carried by telescopically interlocking pipe pieces, means being provided to block the telescopic columns in the set position. Also with this wheelchair there is no adjustment of the seat length, so that the normal version is unusable for children or larger than average people.
- a wheelchair is known from FR-A-2 234 886, which provides five different adjustment options for adapting to different body sizes and shapes.
- the seat height, the backrest, the armrest, the chair width and the vertical distance between the seat and footrest can be regulated.
- the task underlying the application is already known.
- this is again just an ordinary wheelchair, which is not designed as an erection wheelchair with a seat and erection frame separate from the chassis.
- this object is achieved in that the seat, the actuator and the footrests can be replaced by a seat, an actuator or footrests of a different length in an erect wheelchair of the type mentioned at the outset, that the main wheels, depending on the seat length, at at least two different locations can be attached at different distances from the front end of the seat, and that the front edge of the seat can be adjusted in height depending on the length of the footrest.
- the footrests lie on the floor when erecting, but are lifted off the floor when the chair is to be moved.
- the person's feet should be as close as possible to the ground in the upright position and sufficiently far from the ground in the driving position. Since the upright chair should be suitable for both children and tall people, the front edge of the seat can be adjusted depending on the length of the footrest.
- the described combination of various measures according to the invention has thus made it possible for erection for many years chairs unresolved problem of adapting to different body sizes, from children to taller than average, solved.
- the front edge of the seat can be adjusted in height by replacing the steering wheel legs. This represents a simple and practical measure for height adjustability, taking into account the fact that an upright wheelchair in operation only has to be adapted to another body size in relatively rare cases.
- the chassis expediently consists of two practically parallel side frames which are kept at a distance from one another by collapsible struts when the erection chair is in use and which can be detached when the erection chair is not in use or transported in order to fold the chair.
- This combination of measures means that the erecting chair can not only be adapted to different body sizes with simple means, but also folds up.
- the footrests advantageously have a floor support and are arranged such that the floor support rests on the floor in the upright position of the chair. Lying on the floor prevents the chair from tipping over in the upright position. The chair can therefore be built very easily without the risk of it tipping over into the upright position.
- a parallelogram rod which is rotatably mounted on the chassis and on the backrest, advantageously serves as the actuator. This results in a very simple and cheap design.
- the known collapsible erection chair shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 according to CH-PS 608 186 has a chassis 11 on which a seat and erection frame 13 is pivotally mounted about an axis of rotation 15 relative to the chassis 11.
- the chassis 11 consists of two side frames 17, 19 of welded tubular profiles, which are kept apart by a device 21, which is shown in part for better illustration in FIG. 2.
- the erecting chair can therefore be folded up by moving in the direction of arrow 23.
- the two main wheels 25 and two steering wheels 27 are arranged on the chassis.
- the seat and erection frame 13 consists of the seat 33, the backrest 35 and the footrests 37. These elements also consist essentially of tubular profiles, with a backrest ensures.
- the fabric or leather covering of the seat 33 and the backrest 37 are indicated by the thick lines 41 and 43, respectively.
- An actuator in the form of a parallelogram rod 45 connects the backrest 35 to the chassis 11 and thus forms a lever parallelogram to hold the backrest in an upright position in any position of the chair.
- the footrests 37 each have a floor support 38 and are arranged such that the floor support 38 rests on the floor in the upright position of the chair. In order to adapt to the length of the user's lower legs, the footrests 37 have height-adjustable footrests 40.
- the construction of the erecting wheelchair according to the invention is basically the same as that of FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the same reference numbers can therefore be used.
- the seat 33 and the footrests 37 can be replaced by a seat or by footrests of a different length.
- the seat 33 and footrests do not represent any mechanically independent organs, but together with the backrest 35 form the seat and upright frame 13, which in turn has a special relationship with the chassis 11, by being pivotable relative to the chassis 11 about an axis of rotation 15 by a drive mechanism 31 (FIG. 1).
- the footrests 37 have a floor support 38 and a footrest 40 which is adjustable with respect to this.
- FIGS. 4 to 6 now show the adaptation of the erecting wheelchair to three different body sizes (small, medium, large), a seat 33 of different lengths S 1, S Z , S 3 being provided for each body size. Accordingly, an actuator 45 of different lengths is also provided. While the main wheels 25 are fastened in the front bearing 24 'for the first two body sizes, the main wheels are mounted in the rear bearing 24 for the largest body size. In FIG. 6, longer footrests 37 (length F 2 instead of F 1 ) are also used, with correspondingly longer steering wheel legs 47 ensuring that the front edge 34 of the seat is higher (height H 2 instead of H 1 ) than for the other body sizes (small, medium) .
- the erection chair can be adapted to different body sizes with simple means and at low cost.
