Then it can be grasped and caused to rotate in order to set the timer on the wished programme. The rotation of the knob 10 is rigidly transmitted to shaft 9 and piston 6 and from this to the rotating portion of the timer through the key 3.
  • knob 10 Upon setting, a further pressure on the knob 10 causes this to move back into the seat 12 while the restraint device operable in two steps holds the piston 6 in the vicinity of the hollow portion bottom. In this position the knob 10 does not protrude from the machine door surface 11, is protected from any accidental shock and cannot be inadvertently rotated such as by children. Furthermore in this not protruding condition it cooperates to a better aspect of the machine. However the knob 10 is still perfectly visible and its observation provides an indication of the progress of the pre-set working programme.

  • This restraint device is of a commercial type, commonly used for keeping doors and the like closed, and contains therein a return spring which is used, when required, also to urge the knob 10 toward the work position.

Supposing initially the rest position (Fig. 7), upon exerting a pressure on the knob 10 which is retracted in the seat 12, the restraint device 19 is actuated to the effect that the moving element 18 is caused (by means of its own return spring) to have a shift in the direction to the outside with the consequence of urging forward the lever 15-16 and also the shaft 9a: the knob 10 reaches the protruding position of Fig. 6. In this position the operation of the knob is as described before, since the rotation of the shaft 9 is transmitted, through the coupling means 20, to the rotating portion of the timer 1.
  • the knob 10 can be efficiently prevented from oscillating as in the previously described embodiment when making the control shaft efficiently supported at both its ends where it extends from the rotating portion of timer 1.

  • control device has been described as applied to a dishwasher programme timer, it is obvious that such a device can be applied to timers for any different type of household apparatus, as well as to whichever else component to be rotatively controlled, and the knob of which can be advantageously retracted into a seat, provided that such a component allows for a hollow portion at the central zone of its rotating member or can be crossed throughout by an axially movable control shaft, respectively, in the first and second described embodiment.
  • the surface 11 may belong, instead of a door, to a control panel and the seat 12, which is entirely free in the represented examples, may be partially occupied by protruding elements adapted to be contained in the rearside cavity 13 of the knob 10, between its mounting hub on the shaft 9 and its outer skirt, which in some cases may provide a further reduction of the dimensions required for the whole device in the depth direction.
  • the shape of the parts forming the device may be modified to conform to the various application requirements and the various components, especially the restraint device operable in two steps, may be replaced with their technical equivalents.

Claims (10)

1. Drehbare Steuereinrichtung eines Typs, der mit einem Steuerknopf versehen ist, welcher bewegbar ist zwischen einer Arbeitsstellung, die von der umgebenden Oberfläche absteht, und einer Ruhestellung, die zurückgezogen in Bezug auf diese Oberfläche ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Steuerknopf (10) an einer Stuerwelle (9; 9a) befestigt ist, die axial beweglich, aber nicht drehbar an dem drehbaren Abschnitt einer zu steuernden Baugruppe (1; 1a) befestigt ist, und die Steuerwelle (9; 9a) an einer Stelle hinter dem Steuerknopf (10) mit einer in zwei Stufen betätigbaren Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung (4, 7; 9) verbunden ist, die auf einen ersten Druck, der auf die Welle (9; 9a) über den Knopf (10) ausgeübt wird, dessen Bewegung in eine Stellung bewirkt, in der der Knopf (10) von der umgebenden Oberfläche (11) zurückgezogen ist, und auf einen zweiten Druck eine Rückstellfeder (8) freigibt, die die Welle in einer Stellung drückt, in der der Knopf in der abstehenden Arbeitsstellung ist.
2. Einrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung (4, 7), die in zwei Stufen zur Steuerung der Welle (9) betreibbar ist, in einem hohlen zentralen Abschitt (2) des drehenden Teils der zu steuernden Baugruppe (1) untergebracht ist.

Einrichtung nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Steuerwelle (9) an deren äußerem Ende der Steuerknopf (10) befestigt ist, an ihrem inneren rückwärtigen Ende mit einem kolbenartigen Teil (6) verbunden ist, das axial verschiebbar in dem hohlen zentralen Abschnitt (2) und mit diesem zur Drehbewegung mittels eines schlüsselartigen Kupplungsstückes (3) verbunden ist, daß das kolbenartige Teil (6) mit der Rückstellfeder (8) zusammenwirkt, um dieses Teil in eine Stellung zu drücken, die dem hervortretenden Knopf (10) entspricht, und mit einem Formabschnitt (7) ausgebildet ist, der Teil der Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung ist.

Einrichtung nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Formabschnitte (7) des kolbenartigen Teils (6), die ein Teil der in zwei Stufen betätigbaren Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung sind, eine ausgeparte und geformte Gleitbahn aufweisen, die mit einem Kupplungsbügel (4) zusammenwirkt, der in dem drehbaren Abschnitt (2) der zu steuernden Baugruppe (1) eingelegt ist.
5. Einrichtung nach Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Rückstellfeder (8) teilweise in einem Hohlraum des kolbenartigen Teils (6) untergebracht ist.
6. Einrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die in zwei Stufen zum Steuern der Welle (9a) betätigbare Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung (19) mit dem inneren rückwärtigen Ende der Steuerwelle (9a) verbunden ist, die durchgehend die zu steuernde Baugruppe (1a) durchquert.
7. Einrichtung nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung (19) (lateral oder vertikal) an einer Seite der zu steuernden Baugruppe (1a) angeordnet und mit dem rückwärtigen Ende der Steuerwelle (9a) durch einen Schwenkhebel (15, 16) verbunden ist.

Einrichtung nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Schwenkhebel (15, 16) einen ersten gabelartigen Arm (15), der in eine Aussparung (14) des rückwärtigen Endes der Steuerwelle (9a) eingreift, und einem zweiten Arm (16) aufweist, der gegen das sich bewegende Element (18) der Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung (19) anstößt.
9. Einrichtung nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die in zwei Stufen betätigbare Bewegungsbegrenzeinrichtung (19) herkömmlichen Typs ist, die im allgemeinen zum Schließen von Türen oder dergleichen verwendet werden.
10. Einrichtung nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie das Betätigungsmittel zum Steuern eines Programmzeitschalters (1) eines Geschirrspülers, einer Waschmaschine, eines Kochherdes, eines Heizers oder dergleichen ist.
