- the spring element is formed by a leg spring arranged coaxially on the hinge pin, which engages with one end on a hinge half and with its other end on the latch arm.
- the leg spring exerts a contact pressure on the latch arm, whereby it is pressed against the latch member.
- This contact force in turn influences a holding force with which the vehicle door is held in its end position (open position).
