Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for checking cigarettes and sorting out defective cigarettes, the checking in the area of magazine slots of a cigarette magazine being carried out by a test unit which can be delivered to the ends of the cigarettes and subsequently sorting out defective cigarettes, intact cigarettes in groups (cigarettes Groups) at the lower end of the magazine shafts (main extension level).
  • the necessary testing of cigarettes with regard to their correct training takes place in connection with the packaging.
  • the test is carried out by suitable mechanical or opto-electronic test units. So far, these have mainly been used in an area where already within a packaging machine Cigarette groups are formed for packaging. Any defective cigarettes found lead to the entire cigarette group having to be discarded.
  • the invention relates to the testing of cigarettes in the area of the magazine chutes of a cigarette magazine.
  • the object on which the invention is based is to enable the selection of individual, defective cigarettes without impairing the flow of cigarettes and the formation of cigarette groups in the outlet area of the cigarette magazine.
  • the method according to the invention is characterized in that defective cigarettes are conveyed beyond the main ejection level for the cigarette groups to a region below the cigarette groups and are sorted out here.
  • the faulty cigarettes are accordingly identified according to the invention in a suitable location in the area of the magazine chutes, but are then initially conveyed further with the intact cigarettes and are separated out below the area for the ejection of the cigarette groups for the packaging thereof.
  • the cigarettes are conveyed in sections within the magazine shafts, namely according to the number of layers of a group of cigarettes pushed out.
  • the usual composition of the cigarette groups involves conveying sections of three cigarettes each. According to the invention, influence is exerted on the conveying sections of the cigarettes in the magazine chutes after each cigarette ejection.
  • the cigarettes can deviate from the specified conveying section by three cigarettes, in particular by four cigarettes, whereby the lower of the re-fed cigarettes reaches the area below the main ejection level.
  • Such influencing of the conveying steps takes place according to the invention individually for each individual magazine shaft, depending on the detection of any defective cigarettes in a magazine shaft.
  • the cigarettes are checked at a sufficient, predetermined distance from the main ejection plane, namely as a group of cigarettes that can subsequently be ejected.
  • the device according to the invention is provided with individually movable support members underneath each magazine shaft. By relative adjustment of the support members, in particular by moving downwards by the diameter of a cigarette, it is possible to convey (defective) cigarettes into the area below the main ejection plane.
  • the device is otherwise set up so that a supplementary or a control check of the cigarettes takes place after the formation of the cigarette groups. The resulting number of defective cigarettes is drastically reduced by the method according to the invention.
  • Fig. 1 the lower part of a cigarette magazine 10 is shown. This is usually used as an introduction unit for the delivered cigarettes in a cigarette packaging machine.
  • the upper part not shown here, is funnel-shaped in the usual way.
  • the cigarettes emerge from the bottom of the cigarette magazine 10 via magazine chutes 11a, 11b .. or 12a, 12b ..
  • two groups of magazine shafts 11a, 11b ... or 12a, 12b ... are combined to form shaft groups 13, 14.
  • Each shaft group 13, 14 comprises seven magazine shafts 11a, 11b .. and 12a, 12b ..
  • This number of magazine shafts is adapted to the number of cigarettes per cigarette group 15 for a pack of cigarettes.
  • the cigarette group 15 here comprises three layers 16, 17, 18, the outer or upper and lower layers 16 and 18 each comprising seven and the middle layer 17 comprising six cigarettes.
  • the magazine shafts 11a, 11b .. and 12a, 12b .. are within the shaft groups 13, 14 through thin shaft walls 19 separated from each other.
  • the shaft walls 19 are arranged obliquely, namely convergingly, in the lower region of the shaft groups 13, 14, so that rows of cigarettes 20a, 20b .. and 21a formed in the magazine shafts 11a, 11b .. and 12a, 12b .. 21b .. are directed obliquely.
  • the layers 16, 17 and 18 are formed so that the middle layer 17, consisting of six cigarettes, is offset (so-called saddle layer) from the cigarettes of the outer layers 16 and 18.
  • the cigarette group arrives in a pocket 23 of a cigarette revolver 24 arranged offset to the shaft groups 13, 14.
  • the revolver 24 is arranged in an upright plane all around relative to the cigarette magazine 10 in such a way that the respective top pockets 23 are directed obliquely, namely roof-shaped towards each other and are aligned with the main extension level 22 of the two shaft groups 13 and 14.
  • three stacked cigarettes are passed out of the magazine chutes 11a, 11b .. and 12a, 12b .. in the area of the main ejection plane 22 in the longitudinal direction of the cigarette through a mouthpiece 25 which connects to the chute groups 13, 14 and into the aligned pocket 23 of the cigarette -Revolvers 24 inserted.
  • the arrangement here is such that only two superimposed cigarettes are pushed out of the inner, facing magazine chutes 11g and 12g in the main ejection plane 22, while the cigarette in the middle layer 17 of the magazine chutes 11g and 12g is retained becomes.
  • the layers 16, 17, 18 are formed in the arrangement suitable for packaging of cigarettes.
  • the cigarette group 15 is ejected by an ejection element 26 which, with a number of slide fingers 27 corresponding to the number of magazine shafts 11a, 11b .. or 12a, 12b .., into the lower region of the magazine shafts 11a, 11b .. or 12a, 12b .. occurs.
  • the slide fingers 27 are rectangular in cross section. The construction height is dimensioned such that three superposed cigarettes are pushed out of each magazine slot 11a, 11b .. or 12a, 12b ..
  • the cigarettes are conveyed by the pusher fingers 27 into the pockets 21 of the cigarette turret 24 which are kept ready.
  • a fixed nose 28 is provided in the extension area at the height of the middle layer 17. This holds back a cigarette of the middle layer 17 in the magazine shaft 11g or 12g, so that only two cigarettes are pushed out here.
  • the corresponding slide finger 27 is provided with a central slot which enables the cigarettes to be ejected above and below the nose 28.
  • the cigarettes are checked for correct formation in the area of the shaft groups 13 and 14. Missing cigarettes 29 are _ largely predominantly _ sorted out, that is to say not ejected as part of a cigarette group 15.
  • the cigarettes are checked in a region with a predetermined distance from the main ejection plane 22.
  • cross slides 30, 31 are formed in the region of the shaft groups 13, 14. These are frame-like structures which act as part of the shaft groups 13, 14, namely as a continuation of the magazine shafts 11a, 11b .. and 12a, 12b ..
  • the structure and mode of operation of these cross slides 30, 31 is the subject of DE patent application P 36 02 428.7.
  • the cross slide 30, 31 receive a number of cigarettes corresponding to a cigarette group 15, in three layers 16, 17, 18. These are together half the width of a magazine shaft 11a, 11b .. or 12a, 12b .. shifted such that the cigarettes are aligned within the cross slide 30, 31 on the upper ends of the lower parts of the shaft walls 19. In this shift position, the cigarette group 15 located in the cross slide 30 or 31 is checked by a suitable, known test device (not shown in detail).
  • Any faulty cigarettes 29 within the cigarette group of the cross slide 30, 31 are identified by the test organ and control signals are derived therefrom.
  • the supporting webs 32 are movable in the present case, and can be lowered in the main extension plane 22 with respect to the starting or normal position. In the lowered position, the distance from the top or support side of a supporting web 32 corresponds to the main extension plane 22 about the diameter of a cigarette.
  • the conveying steps for the cigarettes in the magazine shaft 11a, 11b .. or 12a, 12b .. concerned can be influenced, namely increased to four cigarettes. In this way it is possible to convey faulty cigarettes 29 past the ejection area and to discard them below the main ejection level 22.
  • a faulty cigarette 29 in the middle layer 17 has been identified in the magazine shaft 11a.
  • this defective cigarette is brought into a position below the cross slide 30 by a standard conveying cycle by three cigarettes.
  • a conveying section of four cigarettes is then carried out, specifically by lowering the one assigned to the magazine shaft 11a Bridge 32 during the downward movement of the cigarettes. With this larger conveying cycle, an error-free cigarette is lost as a result of the lowering of the supporting web 32.
  • the missing cigarette 29 has, however, reached a position immediately above the cigarette group 15 to be pushed out.
  • a further conveying cycle of four cigarettes _ with the supporting web 32 _ lowered leads to the sorting out of the missing cigarette 29.
  • an intact cigarette has been "sacrificed" in the magazine shaft 11a to sort out this missing cigarette.
  • the missing cigarette 29 is located in the area of the upper layer 16 _ shown on the basis of the magazine shaft 11e _, two conveying steps of four cigarettes each are required to move the missing cigarette 29 into the position above the cigarette group 15 to be ejected and then into the separation position below to promote the main extension level 22. In this case, two faultless cigarettes will be lost.
  • the missing cigarette 29 is located in the lower layer 18 of the cross slide _ represented by the magazine shaft 12f _, it only takes two conveying steps for three cigarettes in order to move the missing cigarette 29 into the required position above the cigarette group 15 to be ejected.
  • the nose 28 for holding back a cigarette of the middle layer 17 is arranged in each case in the area of the cigarette group 15 to be pushed out.
  • the cigarettes are accordingly moved in these magazine shafts 11g, 12g by increments of two cigarettes each.
  • the supporting web 32 must intervene in the conveying process by lowering if the missing cigarette has been identified, for example, in the middle layer 17 in the cross slide 31.
  • faulty cigarettes can be identified in the vast majority of cases in a simple manner and separated without impairing the performance of the device.
  • the loss of intact cigarettes in individual cases bears no relation to the loss of error-free cigarettes when a complete cigarette group 15 with a faulty cigarette is discarded.
  • a further cigarette test is arranged downstream of the cigarette magazine 10 or the cigarette test in the area thereof, specifically in the area of the cigarette revolver 24.
  • suitable, known cigarette packs are placed in two successive positions.
  • Test units 33, 34 moved up to the cigarette groups 15 in the pockets 23 in order to identify any missing cigarettes.
  • the cigarettes are checked in the area of the cigarette revolver 24 from both sides of the cigarettes, so that any missing cigarette filters are also found.
  • each support web 32 is the head of a pivotable actuating lever 35. This is designed with two arms and can be pivoted about a pivot bearing 36. A free lever arm 37 is in the raised position 32 (normal position) in the position shown in dashed lines. In this the position of the actuating lever 35 with the supporting web 32 is fixed by a pawl 38 which rests on the free end of the actuating lever 35. The operating lever 35 is held in this position against the load of a spring (tension spring 39). The pawl 38 is retractable, in the present case by a pneumatic flat cylinder 40.
  • the missing cigarettes 29 can be eliminated in various ways below the main ejection level 22.
  • a blowing nozzle 42 is directed towards the facing end of the missing cigarette 29 below the main ejection plane 22. The faulty cigarette is thereby conveyed backwards against the direction in which the intact cigarettes are ejected.
  • the supporting web 32 with the missing cigarette 29 lying thereon is lowered still further, so that the missing cigarette 29 can fall down into the free space. So here are three different positions the supporting webs 32 are provided.
  • the shaft walls 19 consisting of thin metal sheets are extended and widened downward beyond the main ejection plane 22.
  • the shaft walls 19 consisting of thin metal sheets are extended and widened downward beyond the main ejection plane 22.
