- Such loudspeakers are used for the sound reinforcement of extensive areas from an elevated location with speech, music or signal tones, e.g. in sound transmission systems in stadiums or in disaster warning systems, and they mostly have sound funnels whose cross-sectional shape follows exponential or hyperbolic functions.
- An axially radiating horn loudspeaker is also known, to the funnel neck of which two pressure chamber systems are connected with the interposition of a so-called Y-piece.

- the shape of the cross section of each sound channel 19 changes continuously from the circular shape at the upper end to the circular ring sector shape at the lower end.
- the total cross-sectional area of all sound channels of a summing piece changes from the funnel neck backwards to the pressure chamber systems in such a way that the specific cross-sectional function of the outer sound funnel formed by the shells is continued.
