  • the purpose of the lengthwise threads is to absorb the wire tension and for this reason these threads may be worn only to a limited degree.
  • abrasion of the transverse threads may continue until close to the wear-through point of these threads before the fabric is considered to be worn out. This is the reason why all modern forming fabrics are manufactured with transverse bottom threads serving as the abrasive medium.
