Similar to the arrangements illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, the arrangements illustrated in Figure 3 includes an airflow duct 1 having a narrow, elongated rectangular or slit-like cross-section, a wire-like corona electrode K which extends across the duct 1, and a target electrode M1 in the form of an electrically conductive surface or coating on the inside of the airflow duct 1, the corona electrode and the target electrode each being connected to a respective terminal of the d.c. voltage source 3. In addition, two further electrodes M2 are arranged axially opposite respective end parts of the corona wire K.
