Abstract
Description
- L'invention est relative aux projectiles perforants comportant,
un projectile principal au calibre de l'arme et dans lequel est ménagé au moins un alésage axial ouvert vers l'avant,
et, logé dans ledit alésage, un projectile auxiliaire au calibre dudit alésage,
une charge propulsive étant disposée entre le fond de cet alésage et ledit projectile auxiliaire.
Un dispositif de déclenchement est prévu pour mettre à feu la charge propulsive en vue de provoquer le tir du projectile auxiliaire avant ou au moment de l'impact du projectile principal sur son but. - De tels projectiles perforants dont l'effet perforant est donc provoqué, d'une part par le projectile auxiliaire et d'autre part par le projectile principal, sont connus et l'invention a pour but de leur conférer des propriétés destructrices supplémentaires, notamment en ce qui concerne des effets explosifs et/ou incendiaires.
- A cet effet, le projectile principal comporte au moins une charge explosive et/ou incendiaire située dans le projectile principal en avant du projectile auxiliaire avant son tir, des moyens de mise à feu de cette charge explosive et/ou incendiaire étant prévus et agencés pour se déclencher automatiquement dès que le projectile auxiliaire a été tiré.
- Selon un mode de réalisation avantageux de l'invention, ces moyens de mise à feu de la charge explosive et/ou incendiaire sont sensibles au passage du projectile auxiliaire dans l'alésage axial ménagé dans le projectile principal.
- De tels moyens de mise à feu peuvent alors être constitués par au moins un canal reliant l'alésage axial ménagé dans le projectile principal à la charge explosive et/ou incendiaire.
- L'alésage axial peut comporter des rayures dont le pas est tel que la vitesse angulaire engendrée sur le projectile auxiliaire s'ajoute à la vitesse angulaire communiquée par le projectile principal audit projectile auxiliaire.
- Au point de vue constructif, il est avantageux de prévoir des moyens de solidarisation pour rendre le projectile auxiliaire, avant son tir, solidaire en rotation du projectile principal, de tels moyens de solidarisation pouvant être constitués par un emmanchement conique autoserrant.
- Cet emmanchement conique autoserrant entre le projectile auxiliaire et le projectile principal joue également le rôle de moyen de retenue temporaire du projectile auxiliaire dans l'alésage axial et permet une optimisation de la mise en vitesse (vitesse axiale et vitesse de rotation) du projectile auxiliaire lors de la mise à feu de la charge propulsive.
- L'invention consiste, mises à part les dispositions dont il vient d'être question, en certaines dispositions qui s'utilisent de préférence en même temps et qui seront plus explicitement décrites ci-après.
- L'invention pourra de toute façon être bien comprise à l'aide du complément de description qui suit ainsi que du dessin ci-annexé, lesquels complément et dessin sont relatifs à un mode de réalisation préféré de l'invention et ne comportent bien entendu aucun caractère limitatif.
- La figure 1 de ce dessin est une vue en coupe axiale d'un projectile établi conformément à l'invention.
- La figure 2 est une coupe selon la ligne II-II de la figure 1.
- Le projectile perforant conforme à l'invention peut être réalisé dans des calibres tels que le calibre de 12,7 mm (.50) qui est celui de la plupart des mitrailleuses actuellement en service.
- Cependant, il est tout à fait possible d'envisager l'application de l'invention à d'autres calibres, notamment les calibres 15 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 35 mm, 40 mm, voire même supérieurs.
- Le projectile perforant comporte :
- un projectile principal 1 réalisé au moins en partie en un matériau dur (acier), ce projectile principal étant au calibre de l'arme, un alésage axial 2 ouvert vers l'avant étant ménagé dans ce projectile principal, coaxialement à son axe de symétrie axial,
- et, logé dans cet alésage axial 2, un projectile auxiliaire 3 réalisé essentiellement en matériau dur (acier), ce projectile auxiliaire étant au calibre dudit alésage 2, une charge propulsive 4 étant disposée entre le fond de cet alésage 2 et ledit projectile auxiliaire 3. - Un dispositif de déclenchement, désigné d'une façon générale par le chiffre de référence 5 et dont il sera plus explicitement question ci-après, est prévu pour mettre à feu la charge propulsive 4 en vue de provoquer le tir du projectile auxiliaire 3 avant ou au moment de l'impact du projectile principal 1 sur son but.
- Ce projectile principal 1 est avantageusement réalisé en plusieurs parties, à savoir
- un noyau central 6 constitué en un matériau dur (acier), ou à la fois dur et lourd (tungstène), ce noyau central comportant une partie arrière 6a tronconique dont le diamètre diminue vers l'arrière et une partie avant 6b tronconique dont le diamètre diminue vers l'avant,
- un sabot arrière 7 constitué en matériau moins dur que l'acier (laiton) et présentant un alésage tronconique 7a propre à s'emmancher sur la partie arrière tronconique 6a du noyau central 6, ce sabot arrière 7 comportant une zone en renflement annulaire 7b dont le diamètre extérieur est tel qu'il coopère avec les rayures du canon par lequel le projectile selon l'invention est tiré,
- une coiffe avant 8 réalisée en matériau moins dur que l'acier (laiton) et présentant un alésage tronconique 8a propre à s'emmancher sur la partie avant tronconique 6b du noyau central 6, cette coiffe avant 8 comportant une zone en renflement annulaire 8b dont le diamètre extérieur est tel qu'il coopère avec les rayures du canon par lequel le projectile selon l'invention est tiré. - Le susdit sabot arrière 7 et la susdite coiffe avant 8 se raccordent entre eux au niveau d'un plan de jonction P, le diamètre extérieur du projectile selon l'invention au niveau de ce plan de jonction P étant inférieur au diamètre extérieur du sabot arrière 7 au niveau de sa zone en renflement annulaire 7b et au diamètre extérieur de la coiffe avant 8 au niveau de sa zone en renflement annulaire 8b, et ce dans des proportions telles que le creux reliant les deux susdites zones en renflement annulaires ne soient pas en contact avec le canon par lequel le projectile selon l'invention est tiré.
- L'alésage axial 2 d'un tel projectile est donc ménagé dans le noyau central 6 qui présente à son avant une bouche 9 recouverte par la pointe 10 de la coiffe avant 8 qui, au niveau de cette bouche 9, présente une faible épaisseur.
- Pour conférer à un tel projectile des propriétés destructrices, notamment en ce qui concerne des effets explosifs et/ou incendiaires, le projectile principal 1 comporte une ou de préférence plusieurs charges explosives et/ou incendiaires 11 situées dans le projectile principal 1, en avant du projectile auxiliaire 3 avant son tir, des moyens de mise à feu de cette charge explosive et/ou incendiaire 11 désignés d'une façon générale par le chiffre de référence 12 étant prévus et agencés pour se déclencher automatiquement dès que le projectile auxiliaire 3 a été tiré.
- Il est avantageux de disposer ces charges explosives et/ou incendiaires 11 entre le noyau central 6 et la coiffe avant 8.
- A cet effet, il est prévu des logements 13 régulièrement espacés circonférentiellement, et ménagés dans le noyau central 6, chacun de ces logements 13 renfermant une substance explosive et/ou incendiaire et se trouvant fermé par la paroi intérieure de la coiffe avant 8.
- Les moyens de mise à feu 12 de ces charges explosives et/ou incendiaires 11 sont avantageusement réalisés de façon à être sensibles au passage du projectile auxiliaire 3 dans l'alésage 2.
- Dans ces conditions, il est prévu au moins un canal 14 reliant l'alésage axial 2 à chaque charge explosive et/ou incendiaire 11 abritée dans son logement 13.
- La mise à feu de la charge propulsive 4 provoque le tir du projectile auxiliaire 3 et, dès que ce projectile auxiliaire 3 a dépassé le débouché des canaux 14 dans l'alésage 2, les gaz chauds pénètrent dans les canaux 14 et mettent à feu les charges explosives et/ou incendiaires abritées dans les logements 13.
- L'alésage axial 2 peut comporter des rayures 15 dont le pas est tel que la vitesse angulaire engendrée sur le projectile auxiliaire 3 s'ajoute à la vitesse angulaire communiquée par le projectile principal 1 audit projectile auxiliaire 3.
- Il est avantageux de prévoir des moyens de solidarisation pour rendre le projectile auxiliaire 3, avant son tir, solidaire en rotation du noyau central 6 du projectile principal 1 ; de tels moyens sont constitués par emmenchement conique autoserrant 16 entre la partie arrière du projectile auxiliaire 3 et le fond de l'alésage axial 2 et ménagés dans le noyau central 6.
- Cet emmenchement conique autoserrant 16 entre le projectile auxiliaire 3 et le noyau central 6 joue également le rôle de moyens de retenue temporaire du projectile auxiliaire 3 dans l'alésage axial 2 et permet une optimisation de la mise en vitesse (vitesse axiale et vitesse de rotation) du projectile auxiliaire 3 lors de la mise à feu de la charge propulsive.
- Pour augmenter le volume de la charge propulsive 4, il peut être avantageux de prévoir une zone 2a de diamètre agrandi au fond de l'alésage axial 2.
- Le dispositif de déclenchement 5, prévu pour mettre à feu la charge propulsive 4 en vue de provoquer le tir du projectile auxiliaire 3, peut comporter
- une fusée détonatrice de proximité 17 disposée à l'avant du projectile, par exemple entre la pointe 10 de la coiffe avant 8 et la bouche 9 par laquelle l'alésage axial 2 débouche du noyau central 6,
- et un ou de préférence plusieurs conduits 18, contenant une substance pyrotechnique et reliant cette fusée détonatrice de proximité 17 à la charge propulsive 4, ces conduits 18 pouvant être ménagés entre le noyau central 6 d'une part, et le sabot arrière 7 et la coiffe avant 8 d'autre part. - Au point de vue constructif, on peut indiquer qu'un projectile conforme à l'invention peut être réalisé dans tous les calibres.
- Toutefois, on conçoit que plus le calibre est petit, plus la difficulté de réalisation est grande.
- Il est donc raisonnable d'estimer que, pour obtenir une réalisation compatible avec une fabrication en grande série à des coûts non prohibitifs, tout calibre inférieur au calibre 12,7 mm (.50), sans être exclu du domaine d'application de l'invention, peut être écarté au moins dans un premier stade.
- Dans le calibre 12,7 mm (.50), il est possible d'adopter une réalisation voisine de celle illustrée sur le dessin annexé : il en serait de même que pour un calibre de 15 mm.
- Pour des calibres supérieurs de 20 mm, 25 mm, 30 mm, 35 mm, 40 mm, 50 mm et plus, l'architecture du projectile conforme à l'invention pourrait être conçue plus librement vu les dimensions qu'il serait alors possible de donner aux constituants du projectile.
- Comme il va de soi et comme il résulte d'ailleurs déjà de ce qui précède, l'invention ne se limite nullement à ceux de ses modes d'application et de réalisation qui ont été plus particulièrement envisagés ; elle en embrasse, au contraire, toutes les variantes.
Claims (6)
un projectile auxiliaire (3), logé dans ledit alésage (2), au calibre dudit alésage (2), une charge propulsive (4) étant disposée entre le fond de cet alésage (2) et ledit projectile auxiliaire (3),
un dispositif de déclenchement (5) pour mettre à feu la charge propulsive (4) en vue de provoquer le tir du projectile auxiliaire (3) avant ou au moment de l'impact du projectile principal (1) sur son but,
caractérisé par le fait qu'il comporte au moins une charge explosive et/ou incendiaire (11) située dans le projectile principal (1) en avant du projectile auxiliaire (3) avant son tir et des moyens de mise à feu (12) de cette charge explosive et/ou incendiaire (11), lesdits moyens de mise à feu (12) étant prévus et agencés pour se déclencher automatiquement dès que le projectile auxiliaire (3) a été tiré.
