Definitions

  • the invention relates to a container folded from a sealable cardboard blank, in particular a menu tray with a rectangular base, four unfolded side panels, each of which is connected by folding two essentially triangular corner panels, and to an edge flange which is parallel to the base and consists of four folded onto the side panels Edge strip is formed.
  • EP-A-22 139 discloses a folded shell with an edge flange parallel to the rectangular base, in which two opposite edge strips are provided in the region of their corners with hook-like cams which, after being folded, embrace the corners under the two adjacent edge strips of the edge flange .
  • the edge flange is only one layer. The use of relatively thin starting material is therefore not possible.
  • the invention has for its object to design a container of the type mentioned with little effort so that it can also be produced from thin starting material, but ensures sufficient cohesion after folding and before sealing.
  • peripheral flange is double-walled all around and is directed with its cutting edge against the outer surfaces of the side panels.
  • At least two opposite edge strips in the vicinity of the corner fields are provided with narrow cutouts on their cut edges, to which correspondingly shaped lugs on the cut edges of the adjacent corner fields are assigned.
  • the approaches which project approximately only by the material thickness from the assigned edge, can snap into the corresponding recesses when the side panels are unfolded, so that sufficient cohesion is ensured even after folding and before sealing the menu tray.
  • the corner fields adjacent to the corner fields provided with the projections are provided with folded support surfaces for the edge flange. This ensures that the edge flange actually runs parallel to the floor.
  • the procedure is expediently such that first the edge flange is folded double-walled and sealed separately in advance.
  • the areas of the recesses can be excluded when sealing, although this is not absolutely necessary. Only then are the side panels unfolded and transported to a further sealing station, the container remaining stable after being unfolded.
  • the blank (1) of FIG. 1 is provided in its central region with fold lines (3, 4, 5, 6) which later form the bottom (2) of the menu tray (55) to be folded (see also FIGS. 2 and 3) limit.
  • Side panels (7, 8, 9, 10) adjoin the base (2) and are delimited from the base (2) by the fold lines (3, 4, 5, 6) mentioned.
  • Parallel to the fold lines (3 to 6) mentioned, the side panels (7 to 10) are delimited by further fold lines (26, 27, 28, 29).
  • the edge flange (56) begins at these delimiting fold lines (26 to 29) after the menu tray (55) has been folded (see also FIGS. 2 and 3).
  • the corner panels (11 and 12) are designed so that the side panels (7 and 10) - like the rest of the other side panels (8 and 9) - are slightly trapezoidal, with the fold lines (3 to 6) are the shorter edges.
  • two triangular corner fields 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 and 18 are provided between the other side fields (8, 9 and 10).
  • all corner fields (11 to 18) are each separated by fold lines (19).
  • the corner panels (11 to 18) are each separated by fold lines (20 and 21), as between the corner panel (17) and the side panel (9) on the one hand and the corner field (18) and the side field (7) on the other hand is shown.
  • Edge strips 22, 23, 24 and 25 adjoin the side panels (7 to 10) and are delimited by fold lines (26, 27, 28, 29) from the side panels (7 to 10). Parallel to the fold lines (26 to 29) are further fold lines (31, 33, 35 and 37) through which further edge strips (32, 34, 36 and 38) adjoin the aforementioned edge strips (22, 23, 24, 25).
  • cover line (28) can alternatively be used to fold a cover (30), which is only indicated by dash-dotted lines.
  • edge strips are folded together around the fold lines (31, 33, 35, 37), so that a finished, double-walled edge flange (56) later results in the finished menu tray (55).
  • the edge strips (23 and 32), the edge strips (24 and 34), the edge strips (25 and 36) and the edge strips (22 and 38) are each folded around one another.
  • the folding takes place in such a way that the open cut edges (39, 40, 41, 42) after folding the menu tray (55) lie below the upper edge of the edge and are directed against the outer surfaces of the unfolded side panels (7 to 10) (see also Fig. 4, the same cutting edge 39).
  • the edge strips (32 and 36) assigned to the smaller side panels (9 and 10) are each provided with cutouts (47, 48, 49,) in the area of their adjacent corner panels (12 and 13 or 16 and 17) at the cut edges (40 and 42). 50).
  • These recesses (47 to 50) are very narrow and preferably essentially rectangular or trapezoidal.
  • the height of the cutouts (47 to 50) is only slightly larger than the wall thickness of the blank (1).
  • Lugs (51, 52, 53, 54) of the adjacent corner fields (12, 13, 16, 17) are assigned to these recesses (47 to 50), the dimensions of which are roughly adapted to the recesses and which only protrude from the assigned edge as far how it corresponds to the material thickness used.
  • Fig. 2 shows the only schematically indicated double-walled edge flange (56) and two corner fields (15 and 18), which cover the corner fields folded over (16 and 17).
  • the fold line (20) can be seen, which covers the invisible fold line (21) underneath.
  • edge flange 536 shows how the support surfaces (43, 44, 45, 46) lay against the edge flange (56) from below.
  • the edge flange (56) is formed from the eight edge strips (22, 23, 24, and 25, as well as 32, 34, 36 and 38), which lie one above the other and thus make the edge flange (56) double-walled.
  • the edge strips (32, 34, 36 and 38) are invisible from above, as indicated by the reference numerals in brackets in FIG. 3.
  • FIG. 4 a section of Fig. 2 is shown on a greatly enlarged scale and partially in section, as indicated in Fig. 2 with the dash-dotted circle at number IV.
  • edge strips (22 and 38) are folded around their fold line (37) and are arranged relative to the edge strips (25 and 36) assigned to the side panel (9), which also lie one on top of the other. Outside the area of the edge strips (25, 36), the edge strips (22, 38) lie directly on top of one another.
  • Fig. 4 also shows the attachment (53) attached to the invisible corner field (17), in the area of which - after folding - the edge strip (36) has the recess (49).
  • the attachment (53) snaps into the recess (49) and gives the folded menu tray (55) sufficient cohesion before it is sealed.
  • the other projections (51, 52 and 54) snap into the corresponding recesses (47, 48 and 50) in a corresponding manner.
  • the menu tray (55) makes it possible to provide a very thin-walled blank (1) which is nevertheless sufficiently stable owing to the double-walled edge flange (56) and which preferably makes it possible to have one before the final sealing of the menu tray (55) to give sufficient shape stability for further handling of the shell.
  • the open cut edges (39 to 42), of which only the cut edge (39) can be seen in FIG. 4, are such that they cannot be reached from the inside of the menu shell (55).
  • the menu shell (55) is thus sufficiently protected with regard to the open cut edges (39 to 42) if one takes into account that the blank (1) is provided with a liquid-tight coating at least on its later inside of the menu shell (55).
