  • a certain amount of red blood cells is placed in the well of a filter plate.

  • the actual measurement is carried out in a photometer.
  • washing the titer plates is an essential component of the method of examining blood samples.
  • the cell accumulation would be destroyed or washed out of the cuvette during the washing process. It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a cleaning device and a method which make it possible to wash out cuvettes and to leave a cell cluster present therein largely unharmed.
  • the cell cluster should also be washed.
  • the cleaning device according to the invention is characterized in that the cleaning liquid is added dropwise to the cuvettes by means of the filling tubes and that the depth of immersion of the pipettes in the cuvettes can be regulated.

  • An embodiment of the invention provides that the filling tubes have a passage with a cross-sectional expansion shortly before the outlet opening. The formation of drops is promoted by the cross-sectional expansion.
  • Another embodiment of the device according to the invention provides that the supply line for the cleaning liquid has a passage with a variable cross-section and that a return line leading to the liquid container is connected to the supply line between this passage and the pump.

  • FIG. 2 shows a vertical section through a cuvette with cell accumulation therein

  • FIG. 4 schematically shows the suction of the liquid from the cuvette .
  • Fig. 1 only a filling tube and a cuvette for suction are shown.
  • the cleaning device according to the invention will advantageously each be provided with a row of pipettes and filling tubes, the number of filling tubes and pipettes corresponding to the number of cuvettes in a row of a titer plate.

To fill the cuvettes 12 with filling liquid, the filling tube 10 is lowered or the titer plate 13 is raised, so that the filling tube 10 is brought closer to the side of the wall 11 of a cuvette (see FIG. 3). Rinsing liquid is supplied from a vessel 15 to the filling pipe 10 via a line 16 via a piston pump 14.

  • the rinsing liquid is fed into a cuvette 12 or aspirated at a rate of 25-450 ul per second.
  • the cleaning device according to the invention and the method according to the invention are in no way limited to the cleaning of titer plates. This is only a preferred area of application.
  • the device according to the invention and the method according to the invention can be used wherever it is necessary to carry out washing without disturbing the cell accumulations or the sediments contained therein.
