Definitions

  • the invention relates to a chain-shaped jewelry element with a core and at least one metal wire encircling this core or wire elements enclosing this core.
  • Such a decorative element is known from DE-GM 85 21 923 or EP-A-0 214 363 and FR-A-2 505 629.
  • the core consists of a plastic core, the main function of which is to provide the overall structure with the necessary strength and resilience that are no longer applied by the outer metal wire serving as the actual jewelry element with very small dimensions could be.
  • the plastic core has an outer diameter which essentially corresponds to the inner diameter of the outer wire spiral. This leads to the fact that a spiral-shaped contact area is created between the plastic core on the one hand and the wire spiral on the other. Especially with a strong bend of the jewelry element, this design in the contact area can lead to an irregular distribution of the outer metal wire over the length of the plastic core, because of the relatively high sliding friction due to the spiral contact line on the one hand and the relatively high frictional resistance of the plastic on the other.
  • the resulting uneven appearance affects the overall aesthetic impression of the jewelry element.
  • the core consists of several strands of stainless steel twisted against one another, which are wrapped closed by circumferential metal wires made of precious metal, in order to simulate a massive execution of the jewelry element made of a precious metal, and at the same time the required elasticity of the jewelry element to rent.
  • the object of the invention is to further develop the design of such a chain-shaped jewelry element in such a way that the “metal” holding the circulating metal wire as freely as possible is achieved by the core, that is to say that in particular the bending behavior of the circulating metal wire remains largely unaffected by the core running through on the inside, and that even in the case of very delicate chains, an aesthetically balanced appearance is guaranteed, in particular even in the case of strong turns.
  • this object is achieved in that essentially essentially punctiform contact surfaces are formed between each strand and the metal wire.
  • the spiral wire metal is then carried, so to speak, by a "multi-point bracket" from the continuous strands.
  • the strands are formed from an alloy of the material from which at least one circumferential metal wire is made.
  • the metal of the strands and the metal portion of the surrounding metal wire have the same noble metal content.
  • a jewelry chain provided with the features of the invention has a very high transparency as a result of this multi-point bearing in the sense that when the core is released by the surrounding metal wire, for example in the event of a sharp bend, due to the "free volume areas" between the strands on the one hand and the surrounding metal on the other hand, the core optically largely withdraws and is hardly noticed by the viewer.
  • 1 and 2 consists of a core of three parallel strands 11, 12 and 13 and a metal wire 10 surrounding this core in a spiral, which determines the optical appearance of the jewelry element.
  • the internal cross section of the metal wire 10 is substantially larger than the total cross section of the continuous strands 11, 12, 13, there are essentially point-shaped contact areas K between strands on the one hand and metal wire on the other hand, and free cross-sectional or volume areas V remain between the strands on the one hand and the metal wire on the other.
  • the exclusively point-shaped contact areas are responsible for the uniform flexibility of the jewelry element, especially if the strands are also made of metal.
  • the unoccupied volume areas V are decisive for the transparency of the jewelry chain if (as shown in Fig. 1 at A), for example in the area of strong bends or even with metal wires circulating at a distance from the start, the view of the strands passing through remains clear.
  • cores can also be produced that can be adapted to non-circular internal cross sections of metal spirals. Only the cross-sectional representation according to FIG. 3 is representative of this.
  • Chains according to the invention can in particular also be designed very delicately, for example the inner diameter of the metal spiral 10 in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 can be at least 0.3 mm, the diameter of the strands of the core used can be at least 0.15 mm.
  • the decorative element is preferably designed such that the surrounding metal wire consists of a noble metal (for example platinum) and the core (strands) which absorbs the mechanical stresses is made of a correspondingly harder alloy of the same noble metal (for example a platinum? Alloy). If you then choose the same fineness for both the precious metal of the circulating wire and the precious metal content of the alloy of the strands, the entire decorative element can be treated uniformly under labeling law and continues to be a technically and aesthetically uniform solution.
  • a noble metal for example platinum
