Abstract

In a method for controlling the driving speed of draw plates in a multi-stage straight-lined wire drawing machine operating without slip, in which each drawing die is assigned one draw plate and each draw plate is driven by means of a speed-regulated or speed-controlled drive, the adaptation of the speeds of the individual drawing-die drives to the process-related parameters (wire diameter or reduction in wire cross-section) in the starting phase of the wire drawing machine is performed in a setpoint cascade via a feeler-roll position control which automatically matches the setpoint cascade, matching being proportional to the speed ratios of the draw-plate drives and independent of the absolute speeds or setpoints, and the feeler rolls (4) are transferred slowly into an end position for the continuous transition to direct straight-lined drawing by a control command to the feeler-roll position control, and the further control of the driving speed is assumed by the known back tension regulation or control method in straight-lined drawing mode and the feeler rolls (4) are guided out of the region of the wire. <IMAGE>
