Definitions

  • the invention relates to an arrangement for printing on label tapes which have individual labels adhering to a carrier tape.
  • hand-price labeling devices in which the aforementioned label tape is pulled over a deflection edge by a transport device acting on the carrier tape, where the label detaches from the carrier tape and in this dispensing position by an adjacent pressure roller on the labeling object is pressed.
  • These hand-held labeling devices also have a preferably adjustable printing unit, with which the labels are printed before reaching the deflecting edge, for example with a price indication and / or with code characters or with an advertising print.
  • the labels Since these labels are to be rolled up or pressed onto the finished goods with the aid of this hand-held labeling device, the labels have an adhesive layer on their non-printed lower layer, which generally consists of a permanent adhesive. This adhesive layer also causes the individual label to adhere to the carrier tape, from which it detaches at the deflecting edge.
  • the label tapes that come out on a carrier tape with the help of this adhesive layer adhering labels is distributed in the form of rolls that are used in the labeling machines for processing.
  • the carrier tape carrying the labels is provided with a surface which repels the adhesive of the labels and which is siliconized, for example.
  • the carrier tape When the label has come off, the carrier tape must no longer have any adhesive so that the transport device lying behind the deflection edge in the direction of advance of the label tape is not contaminated by adhesive residues. The adhesive must therefore remain completely on the label after it has passed the deflection edge so that the label can be attached to the object to be labeled simply by pressing it on.
  • a label tape has become known from DE-PS 28 34 592, in which the label tape not only consists of a carrier tape and individual labels adhering to it, but also has a continuous backing tape which is relatively relative to the side of the carrier tape facing away from the labels low adhesive force is connected.
  • the transport device acts on the backing tape. If the label tape is pulled over the deflecting edge, the carrier tape with the the individual labels. The operator can then remove a strip containing printed labels, for example 20 or 30 labels, by tearing or cutting off the carrier tape in the region of the deflection edge.
  • the adhesive layer arranged on the underside of the labels is then completely or only partially covered by the carrier tape, so that there are no difficulties in handling this label strip.
  • the backing tape only serves to transport the label tape through the hand-held labeling device.
  • the above-mentioned label tapes are all intended for the labels to adhere to the object to be labeled through the adhesive layer. In many cases, however, it is desirable to also print labels that do not adhere to the object by gluing, but rather are attached to the object by a thread or the like, for example. In this case, the labels consist of a box. Although there are printing devices which print labels of this type consisting of cardboard, these printing devices are stationary, and they also do not issue tapes of individual labels adhering to one another.
  • a method is also known in which the label tape only consists of a cardboard strip which is divided into individual labels which are held together by relatively large cardboard bridges.
  • This label tape is processed in a conventional hand-held labeling device, on which the usual label tapes are also processed, in which paper labels adhere to a carrier tape.
  • the label tape which consists of only one cardboard strip, is used in labeling devices guided in exactly the same way as a label tape with paper labels adhering to a carrier tape, namely it is printed directly in front of the deflecting edge and then guided into the transport device, so that at the rear end where the label tape with the paper labels has the carrier tape leaves the device , in the case of processing a cardboard tape, the printed cardboard tape leaves the device and is torn off in sections there.
  • the invention is based on the object of avoiding the disadvantages of the methods described above and of being able to print cardboard labels in a simple manner and as far as possible in a portable device and to be able to remove these cardboard labels either individually or in a strip from the device.
  • this object is achieved according to the invention in that in a hand-held labeling device with printing unit suitable for price labeling, in which the label tape at the dispensing point is guided over a deflection edge at which the label detaches from the carrier tape, which subsequently a transport device for feeding the label tape out a label tape is used, in which individual labels made of cardboard adhere to a carrier tape with an adhesive which adheres to the latter after the label is detached from the carrier tape.
  • the object of the invention is also achieved in that a label tape is processed in which the individual labels made of cardboard adhere to the carrier tape with a weakly adhesive adhesive, the residues of which remain on the cardboard label after detaching from the carrier tape are no longer perceived as disturbing.
  • An advantage of the invention is that the usual hand labeling devices can be used for printing on cardboard labels, which are used for labeling with paper adhesive labels, and that this other use can be achieved without changing the device simply by inserting another label roll. It is also advantageous that the label strip consisting of cardboard labels leaves the device immediately behind the deflecting edge and is not passed through the transport device, so that the printing, which generally takes place immediately in front of the deflecting edge, cannot be smeared.
  • the arrangement according to the invention has the advantage that the label tape does not have to have three layers, but only, as usual, two layers, and that the label strips without an underlying carrier tape or the like are only provided over the cardboard bridges between the individual labels hang together so that they can be easily torn off.
  • the cardboard bridges between the individual labels can be interrupted by one or more interruptions in a cut delimiting the individual labels. line can be realized, the individual labels can also be attached to one another via one of the usual perforations.
  • the cardboard labels have a cutout through which a fastening means, e.g., when attaching the cardboard label to a garment or other object. a clip or plastic cord is shot through it.
  • this recess can also be formed by e.g. circular perforation in the cardboard label should only be prepared. The area surrounded by the perforation is then broken out before the label is attached to the object to be labeled.
  • FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through parts of a hand-held labeling device known per se, which are only necessary for understanding the invention.
  • FIG 3 shows a cross section through a section of the label band with exaggerated thickness ratios.
  • the hand-held labeling device has a device housing 1 to which a handle 2 is attached.
  • An operating lever 3 is pivotally mounted about an axis 4 in the device housing.
  • a spring 5 strives to keep the hand lever 3 in a position spread from the handle 2.
  • Fig.l the parts are drawn in the position they occupy when the hand lever 3 is pivoted in against the action of the spring 5 to the handle 2.
  • the hand lever 3 has a lever arm 6 which is elongated beyond its pivot axis 4 and which is articulated at its end opposite the handle 3 to a printing unit 7 which is guided in the housing 1 so as to be displaceable in a direction which is approximately parallel to the tangent to the movement path of the End of the lever arm 6 extends.
  • This guide is indicated by an elongated hole 8 in the housing 1, in which a bolt attached to the printing unit 7 engages.
  • a pressure roller 9 is rotatably mounted in the housing 1 at its lower end on the left in FIG. 1.
  • a web 10 passing through the housing which in the example shown has an approximately triangular cross section and whose upper surface 11 in FIG Housing 1 housed supply roll 13 is guided via a deflection roller 14 to the guideway 11.
  • the web 10 has a deflection edge 20 at its end adjacent to the roller 9.
  • the label tape 12 consists of individual labels 16 adhering to a carrier tape 15, which in the example shown by a separating cut 17 is delimited, which runs only through the label material, namely a cardboard box, but leaves the carrier tape 15 intact.

  • the web 12 has a deflection edge 20 at its end adjacent to the roller 9. If the label tape 12 is pulled around the deflection blade 20 on its carrier tape 15, the label 16 peels off from the carrier tape 15.
  • This belt 15 is guided under the web 10 to a transport wheel 21 which has on its periphery means which carry the carrier belt 15 when the transport wheel 21 rotates about its axis 22.
  • These means can consist of radially protruding pins 25 or means engaging in the edge configuration (wave edge) of the carrier tape.
  • the transport wheel 21 is driven by a pawl 23 which is mounted about an axis 24 in the hand lever 3 and whose free end is pressed in the direction of the axis 22 of the transport wheel 21 with the aid of a spring (not shown).

  • the adhesive layer 19 can consist of a relatively weakly adhesive adhesive, for example an adhesive produced on the basis of stearin or other waxes.
  • the adhesive can be designed in such a way that after cleavage of the label 16 it remains at least predominantly adhering to the carrier tape 15, so that the side of the label facing the carrier tape is essentially free of adhesive residues, for example also in that the label layer facing the adhesive layer side is siliconized.
  • the adhesive can also be of a consistency in which adhesive remains on this side of the label, but these residues are not perceived as annoying during labeling.
  • the adhesive can also be designed such that it dries quickly after the label 16 has been peeled off the carrier tape 15.
  • connection between the label 16 and the carrier tape 15 can also be produced by other adhesive substances or means, for example by a connection which is designed in the manner of a Velcro fastener. Adhesion of the label 16 to the carrier tape 15 can also be achieved by embossing the label tape.
  • the adhesive can cover the entire surface facing the label 16, but it can also cover only a part of this surface, for example, it can be provided only in points. It is also possible to use a so-called dry adhesive which, when wet, develops an adhesive effect immediately after it has been applied, but which is dry after the label has been removed from the carrier tape, so that an adhesive effect is no longer noticeable.
  • the device has a pressure roller.
  • this device can also be used for processing label tapes in which the labels are provided with a permanent adhesive with which the labels adhere to the object to be labeled.
