Definitions

  • the invention relates to a label tape for use in a hand-held labeling device with a printing unit, in which the label tape is guided at the dispensing point over a deflection edge at which the label detaches from the carrier tape, which label is then guided into a transport device for feeding the label tape .
  • hand-price labeling devices in which the aforementioned label tape is pulled over a deflection edge by a transport device engaging on the carrier tape, where the label detaches from the carrier tape and is pressed onto the object to be labeled in this dispensing position by an adjacent pressure roller .
  • These hand-held labeling devices also have a preferably adjustable printing unit, with which the labels are printed before reaching the deflection edge, for example with a price indication and / or with code characters or with an advertising print.
  • the labels Since these labels are to be rolled up or pressed onto the finished goods with the aid of this hand-held labeling device, the labels have an adhesive layer on their non-printed lower layer, which generally consists of a permanent adhesive. This adhesive layer also causes the individual label to adhere to the carrier tape, from which it detaches at the deflection edge.
  • the label tapes which consist of labels adhered to a carrier tape by means of this adhesive layer, are sold in the form of rolls which are used in the labeling devices for processing.
  • the carrier tape carrying the labels is provided with a surface that repels the adhesive of the labels, which e.g. is siliconized.
  • the carrier tape When the label has come off, the carrier tape must no longer have any adhesive so that the transport device lying behind the deflection edge in the direction of advance of the label tape is not contaminated by adhesive residues. The adhesive must therefore remain completely on the label after it has passed the deflection edge so that the label can be attached to the object to be labeled simply by pressing it on.
  • a label tape has become known from DE-PS 28 34 592, which not only consists of a carrier tape and individual labels adhering to it, but additionally has a continuous backing tape which is connected to the side of the carrier tape facing away from the labels with a relatively low adhesive force is.
  • the transport device acts on the backing tape. If the label tape is pulled over the deflection edge, the carrier tape with the individual labels adhering to it detaches there. The operator can then remove a strip of printed labels containing 20 or 30 labels, for example, by tearing or cutting off the carrier tape in the region of the deflection edge. With this label strip, the adhesive layer arranged on the underside of the labels is then completely or only partially covered by the carrier tape, so that there are no difficulties in handling this label strip. In this known label tape, the backing tape only serves to transport the label tape through the hand-held labeling device.
  • the above-mentioned label tapes are all intended for the labels to adhere to the object to be labeled through the adhesive layer. In many cases, however, it is desirable to also print labels that do not adhere to the object by gluing, but rather are attached to the object by means of a thread or the like, for example. In this case, the labels consist of a cardboard box. Although there are printing devices which print such labels consisting of cardboard, these printing devices are stationary and they also do not issue tapes of individual labels which are stuck together.
  • a method is also known in which the label tape only consists of a cardboard strip which is divided into individual labels which are held together by relatively large cardboard bridges.
  • This label tape is processed in a conventional hand labeling device, on which the usual label tapes are also processed, in which paper labels adhere to a carrier tape.
  • the label tape, which consists of only one cardboard strip is guided in labeling devices in exactly the same way as a label tape with paper labels adhering to a carrier tape; namely, it is printed directly in front of the deflecting edge and then guided into the transport device, so that at the rear end where the carrier tape leaves the device in the case of the paper tape with paper labels, in the case of processing a cardboard tape the printed cardboard tape leaves the device and there in sections is torn down.
  • printed cardboard labels have the disadvantage that when a certain number of labels are used, as many labels have to be printed as the distance between the point at which the label tape is printed and the point at which this is done printed label tape behind the transport device leaves the device.
  • the imprint on the cardboard label in the transport device is often blurred, especially when working quickly and the imprint has not yet dried completely when the label passes through the transport device.
  • the invention has for its object to avoid the disadvantages of the above-described methods and to provide cardboard labels that can be printed in a simple manner and as far as possible in a portable device, these cardboard labels being removable either individually or in a strip from the device.
  • Another solution of the invention is that the individual labels made of cardboard or a cardboard-like material adhere to the carrier tape by embossing.
  • An advantage of the invention is that the usual hand-held labeling devices can be used for printing on cardboard labels, which are used for labeling with paper adhesive labels, and that this other use can be achieved without changing the device simply by inserting a different label roll. It is also advantageous that the label strip consisting of cardboard labels leaves the device immediately behind the deflecting edge and is not passed through the transport device, so that the printing, which generally takes place immediately in front of the deflecting edge, cannot be smeared.
  • the label tape according to the invention has the advantage that not three layers, but only, as usual, two layers are provided and that the label strips without an underlying carrier tape or the like only hang together over the cardboard bridges between the individual labels, so that they can be easily torn off.
  • the cardboard bridges between the individual labels can be realized in embodiments of the invention by one or more interruptions in a cutting line delimiting the individual labels, the individual labels can also be attached to one another via one of the usual perforations.
  • the cardboard labels have a recess through which a fastening means, e.g., when attaching the cardboard label to a garment or other object. a clip or plastic cord is shot through it.
  • this recess can also be formed by e.g. circular perforation in the cardboard label should only be prepared. The area surrounded by the perforation is then broken out before the label is attached to the object to be labeled.
  • the hand-held labeling device has a device housing 1 to which a handle 2 is attached.
  • An operating lever 3 is pivotally mounted about an axis 4 in the device housing.
  • a spring 5 strives to keep the hand lever 3 in a position spread from the handle 2.

  • This belt 15 is guided under the web 10 to a transport wheel 21 which has on its circumference means which carry the carrier belt 15 when the transport wheel 21 rotates about its axis 22.

  • the adhesive is of a consistency in which adhesive remains on this side of the label, but these residues are not perceived as annoying during labeling.
  • the adhesive can also be designed such that it dries quickly after the label 16 has been peeled off the carrier tape 15. Adhesion of the label 16 to the carrier tape 15 can also be achieved by embossing the label tape.
  • the adhesive can cover the entire surface facing the label 16, but it can also cover only a part of this surface, for example only be provided at certain points.
  • the device has a pressure roller.
  • This has the advantage that this device can also be used for processing label tapes in which the labels are provided with a permanent adhesive with which the labels adhere to the object to be labeled.
  • a permanent adhesive with which the labels adhere to the object to be labeled.
  • such an element for pressing the label onto a surface to be labeled is not required for dispensing cardboard labels that are not attached to the object to be labeled by an adhesive.
  • the labels can also consist of a material that cannot be regarded as a paper material, but only has the stiffness of a box.
  • the label material can consist entirely or predominantly of a plastic material, for example.
  • these bridges can also be produced, for example, by a special preparation of the label tape if the separating cut 17 extends without interruption over the entire width of the label.
  • These preparation points can consist of adhesive, for example.
