Definitions
- the invention relates to a drill grinding device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- a straightening arrangement is therefore provided which correspondingly wears down the areas of the grinding surface which are less worn by the drills and the surface section of the grinding wheel which is perpendicular to the central axis, so that such step formation is prevented and the angle of inclination of the grinding surface is retained.
- no step can arise in the grinding wheel at the end of the grinding surface closest to the drill guide piece, since, seen in the radial direction, no grinding wheel material is present outside this end.
- the outer ends of the main cutting edges are therefore not rounded.
- the angle of rise of the grinding surface decreases, with an increase in the tip angle of the drill, which is, however, tolerable within certain limits.
- devices for example by US-PS 3753320, are known in which a conical grinding surface at its end closest to the drill guide piece forms an acute-angled ridge with the adjoining surface section of the grinding wheel.
- the guide channels are arranged there in such a way that their center axes meet the end of the grinding surface furthest away from the drill guide piece.
- a further feature of the invention prevents large pieces of the grinding wheel from breaking out on the ridge in that the surface section of the grinding wheel forming the burr together with the grinding surface is also conical.
- a particularly efficient material transport from the grinding surface is achieved according to a further feature of the invention in that the grinding surface is an outer cone.
- FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the exemplary embodiment
- FIG. 2 shows a plan view of two guide channels, seen in the direction of arrow A in FIG. 1, on a larger scale
- FIG. 3 shows a detail from FIG. 1 with one into a guide channel 4 to FIG. 3, but after prolonged wear of the grinding wheel
- FIG. 5 is a plan view of a drill tip.
- the various parts of the exemplary embodiment are arranged concentrically around the central axis 1.
- An axis 2 is the spindle of a motor (not shown) arranged in the housing 3.
- the axis 2 is axially fixed in ball bearings 4.
- a grinding wheel carrier 5 is fixed between the bearing 4 and the nut 6.
- An annular grinding wheel 7 is glued to the grinding wheel carrier 5. On its flank facing away from the motor, the grinding wheel has an externally conical grinding surface 8 which, together with an inner cone 9, forms an acute-angled ridge 10.
- the grinding surface 8 forms with its plane of rotation the angle ⁇ 1 of 35 °, the inner cone 9 the angle ⁇ of 75 °. This gives the acute angle ⁇ of 70 ° on the ridge 10.
- a drill guide piece 11, 12 is arranged opposite the grinding surface 8. This is rigidly connected to the housing 3 and is composed of a guide channel body 11 and a guide pin plate 12 rigidly connected to it.
- the guide channel body 11 has guide channels 13 of different diameters which are parallel to the central axis 1 and which externally affect an imaginary cylinder jacket 14 which is coaxial with the central axis 1.
- the diameter of the cylinder jacket 14 is equal to the diameter of the burr 10 of the grinding wheel.
- the guide pin plate 12 has openings 15 aligned with the guide channels 13, into each of which two trapezoidal guide pins 16 project for engagement in the flutes 20 of a drill inserted into the guide channel. These each have two stop edges 17 and are dimensioned such that they permit an approximately 30 ° rotation about its axis of the drill inserted into the guide channel.
- the drill to be ground is inserted by hand into the smallest suitable guide channel 13 and between the guide pins 16 therein until one of its rear grinding surfaces 18 strikes against the rotating grinding surface 8.
- the periphery of the drill touches approximately the ridge 10.
- the drill which is pressed lightly against the grinding surface, is now rotated back and forth a few times between the stop edges 17 of the guide pins. It is then pulled back a little, rotated by 180 °, inserted again to the grinding surface and rotated back and forth. Both relief surfaces are now ground.
- the wear of the grinding wheel is greatest directly on the ridge 10 and decreases continuously with increasing distance from the ridge. In the area of the cutting edge 19 of the drill, the wear of the grinding wheel is minimal. The angle of increase ⁇ of the grinding surface 8 will therefore decrease with increasing wear of the grinding wheel. When the angle of rise ⁇ of the grinding surface has decreased to approximately 30 ° ( ⁇ 2 in FIG. 4), the grinding wheel is replaced. One step in the grinding wheel at the end of the ridge However, the grinding surface cannot be created, since there is no grinding wheel material outside this end of the grinding surface, viewed in the radial direction. The main cutting edges 21 of the drills always remain straight.
