- European patent specification 0005309 describes the use of organic solvents with a high KB value and various surfactants as blanket cleaning agents. Due to its anionic and cationic surfactant content, the agent is not very suitable for cleaning rubber printing blankets. The cationic surfactants immediately adhere to the printing blanket and the anionic to the aluminum printing plate and thus interfere with the ink transfer from the plate to the printing blanket.
- European patent 0354027 discloses liquid cleaning agents containing para-menthadiene and terpene alcohol for the removal of printing inks. Because of the high swelling capacity for the elastomeric cover layer of the printing blankets and the strong smell, these agents also do not meet the requirements.
- Water-miscible printing blanket cleaning agents require a two-stage procedure, in which the agent is first emulsified and then applied to the printing blanket surface or that after cleaning it has to be washed with water.
- a disadvantage of these cleaning agents is that the washing times are long and the atomization in automatic blanket washing machines increases heavy fog formation.
- the blanket detergent according to the invention can additionally contain 0.1 to 6% by weight of 2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-2 (4 ', 8', 12'-trimethyltridecyl) chroman-6-ol.
