Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for tensioning a fabric, constituting the roof of a light shelter in the form of a tent, on a structure ensuring the support thereof.
  • Light shelters are already known which essentially consist of a structure, maintained at a determined height above the ground by support posts, on which a canvas is stretched.
  • Various means have been proposed for ensuring the tension of this fabric on the structure.
  • Means have thus been proposed which ensure, on the one hand, that the fabric is held on the total periphery of a frame constituting the base of the structure and, on the other hand, a vertical displacement upwards from the top of the support structure which thus exerts the desired tension on the canvas.
  • EP-A-2 41 887 discloses a device for tensioning a fabric of a shelter comprising a support structure held at a distance from the ground by posts, this structure comprising inclined bars bearing on the structure by their base, the inclined bars being joined at their respective upper ends by a rigid connecting element.
  • this type of tensioning device requires a central support point, located under the top of the shelter, and does not, due to the unique direction of movement of the top of the structure, uniform and progressive distribution of the tension forces over the entire volume of the fabric, which leads to subjecting certain parts thereof to an overvoltage, so that other parts of the fabric can be subjected to a desired minimum tension preventing the fold formation.
  • This overvoltage is a cause of premature wear of the fabric.
  • the object of the present invention is to propose a device for tensioning a fabric which is both simple to manufacture and to put in use, and which subjects the structure supporting the canvas, when it is desired to stretch it, to both vertical and horizontal displacement, so as to create an overall "expansion" of the structure, leading to a homogeneous distribution canvas tension forces.
  • the present invention thus relates to a device for tensioning a canvas of a light shelter in the form of a tent on a support structure comprising inclined bars, the lower ends of which are supported on anchoring means consisting of a frame, kept at a distance from the ground by support posts, at least two bars being joined, at their respective upper ends, by a rigid connecting element, characterized in that the latter is connected to the upper end of at least another bar by means of spacers, capable of varying the distance (a) separating, in the horizontal plane, said upper ends, so as to generate an upward rotation of each bar around its lower end.
  • the spacer means consist of a threaded rod, which is screwed into respective rigid elements, integral with the upper ends of the bars, the directions of the threads provided in these rigid elements as well as on the parts of the corresponding threaded rod being reversed, so that a rotation in one direction of the threaded rod ensures the screwing (or unscrewing) thereof in the two rigid elements.
  • the threaded rod is provided with a gripping element, for example with a hexagonal section, of the nut type, making it possible to actuate it in rotation.
  • the present invention is also advantageous when the structure consists of two pairs of inclined bars whose upper ends in neighboring pairs by means of a rigid connecting element, the spacer means being arranged between two opposite connecting elements.
  • each spacer means is disposed between a connecting element and a common central core.
  • the tensioning device according to the invention has the advantage of ensuring a volume “expansion" of the structure supporting the fabric, since the tensioning movement is exerted both in the vertical direction and in the direction horizontal.
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view, partly in section, of a first embodiment of the invention.
  • FIG. 2 is a partial perspective view, on a larger scale, of the spacer means used in the device shown in FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 is a top view of a variant of the spacer means of FIG. 2.
  • Figure 4 is a schematic view showing the principle of the tensioning device according to the present invention.
  • Figure 5 is a top view of an alternative embodiment of the invention.
  • Figure 6 is a detailed perspective view on a larger scale of a method of fixing a part of the canvas support structure.
  • the tent-shaped shelter shown in FIG. 1 essentially consists of a horizontal frame 1, of square shape, maintained at a given distance from the ground by vertical posts 3, arranged at the corners of the frame 1.
  • the frame 1 is intended to support a structure 5 which constitutes, with a canvas 7 stretched over this structure 5, the roof of the shelter.
  • the structure 5 essentially consists of four inclined bars 9, the lower ends 11 of which bear on the frame 1 and the upper ends 13 are associated in pairs, that is to say they are joined in pairs by rigid connecting elements 15.
  • the bars 9 can be more or less curved along a vertical and diagonal plane, so as to form a more or less pronounced curve, which is a function of the shape which it is desired to give to the roof of the shelter.
  • Each connecting element 15, shown in Figure 2 consists of a metal element whose front 17 and rear 19, substantially vertical, are parallel and are crossed by a threaded hole 21 perpendicular to these faces.
  • the lateral faces 20 of the connecting element 15 form the same angle ⁇ , in this case equal to 45 °, with the front face 17 of the connecting element 15, so that seen from above the connecting element 15 has the shape of an isosceles trapezoid.
  • the upper ends 13 of the bars 9 are fixed, for example by welding, to the lateral faces 20 of the connecting element 15, perpendicular to them.
  • each of the bars 9 forms, in top view of the structure, an angle of approximately 90 ° with the bars 9 which are adjacent to it, and the faces front 17 of the two connecting elements 15 are parallel to each other and are turned towards each other.
  • the two connecting elements 15 are joined by a substantially horizontal threaded rod 25, which is screwed into each of the threaded holes 21 and is therefore perpendicular to the front faces 17.
  • the threaded rod 25 has, in its middle, an actuating element 24 , with a hexagonal nut-type section, which defines, on either side, two parts of threaded rods 26,26 ′, having, respectively, a step to the right and a step to the left.
  • the device according to the invention thus makes it possible to achieve a "dilation" in volume of the structure 5.
  • the tensioning device according to the invention is implemented as described below.
  • the actuating element 24 is adjusted so that the two connecting elements 15 are as close as possible to each other, and that the distance a separating two connecting elements 15 is minimal.
  • the fabric 7 is then placed on the structure 5, by fixing it, for example on its lower periphery, on the frame 1, then the actuating element 24 is rotated, in the direction of the arrow C, by so as to cause the "expansion" in volume of the structure 5, which ensures the tension of the fabric 7.
  • the structure 5 is locked in position, for example by means of lock nuts 27.27 ′ arranged on the respective threaded rod portions 26,26 ′.
  • the thread 21 provided in the connecting element 15 can be replaced by a nut 23 disposed in a housing of the element 15.
  • This housing is of a shape such that it ensures, at both, the immobilization in translation and in rotation of the nut 23.
  • the through hole of the threaded rod 25 in the connecting element 15 is of a diameter such that a large clearance is produced and, on the other hand the housing of the the nut 23 is of a shape such that it allows rotation thereof along a substantially horizontal axis and perpendicular to the threaded rod 25. This arrangement allows the pivoting, previously mentioned, of the bars 7 around their lower end 11, without creating deformation of the threaded rods 25.
  • the bars consist of tubes 9, and the connecting element 15 comprises, on each of its lateral faces 20, a fixing end piece 28 ending in a part 29 of an external diameter identical to the internal diameter of the tube 9 and which is intended to receive the upper end 13 thereof.
  • the present device for tensioning a tent fabric according to the invention can also be used in the case of more complex structures, comprising any number of bars 9.
  • FIG. 5 thus represents a tensioning device according to the invention in which two pairs of bars and a single bar are joined together.
  • the tensioning device comprises a central core, consisting of a tubular element 48 of vertical axis yy ′ which is provided, in the present example, with three radial holes 50 perpendicular to the axis yy ′, And which are arranged at 120 ° from one another on the periphery of the tubular element 48.
  • These threaded holes 50 receive one of the two parts 26 ′, of the threaded rod 25, the other part 26 being joined either to a connecting element 15 (of the type shown in FIG. 2) associated with a pair of bars 9, or to an element 15 ′ associated with a single bar 9.
  • the operation of this device is identical to that mentioned above, with the difference however that the user will act successively on each of the actuating elements 24 to move the rigid connecting elements 15,15 ′ from the center of the core 48.
  • the central core can also be of substantially annular shape.
  • a bar 9 is welded to a triangular angle plate 40 which has six vertical studs 42 which project downwards below it and which take place in corresponding housings provided in the angles of the frame 1.
