The plate cylinder and the blanket cylinder are on their opposite Ends rotatably mounted in the printing unit frame. Of the Plate cylinder applies a printing plate with a surface which defines a colored image, and which Blanket cylinder carries a printing blanket.
  • the Cylinder rotation in the printing unit is transferred to the Plate cylinder located on the colored image that is on the blanket cylinder at a gap between the Plate cylinder and the rubber blanket cylinder.
  • the blanket on the blanket cylinder consequently transfers the colored image to the material that is currently being printed, e.g. be a paper web.
  • a printing unit normally comprises an inclination device, around the plate cylinder opposite the blanket cylinder slant. If the plate cylinder against the Blanket cylinder is tilted, the changes Angular position of the plate on the plate cylinder with respect to itself rubber blanket located on the blanket cylinder. The angular position of the colored image, which from the plate onto the rubber blanket - and thus on the web - is also transferred changed. By adjusting the inclination device the Alignment of the image with respect to the web adjusted.
  • An offset printing unit also includes a storage device.
