Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device injection and metering of a liquid additive product into a water pipe for fire fighting, this device for mixing the additive product with water circulating in a pipe, respecting a proportion predefined.
- Addition products can be emulsifying, retarding, wetting, ... In all cases, they are dosed with water, with a percentage defined for each of them to guarantee their efficiency.
- French patent application N ° 2675697 describes an addition and mixing device in constant proportion of an additive in a product main, mounted on a fire extinguisher.
- This mechanical mixing device reduces the useful power of the pump, it uses the principle of "venturi” (with the related inaccuracies), and above all it presents the inconvenience of passing the adduct with water in the fire pump.
- the French utility certificate N ° 2598922 describes a mobile station for manufacturing solutions delaying liquid.
- the device in question is made up a fire pump, two flow meters electromagnetic and a positive displacement pump for the additive product (retardant), which injects this product into the water pipe.
- the disadvantages of this device reside in the use of a transmission hydrostatic, linking the retarder pump to the pump fire, and in the complexity of regulation.
- the device uses two regulatory chains one for metering the flow of delaying, and the other allowing to regulate the pressure by output of the additive product positive displacement pump.
- the latter device has, like the previous ones, the disadvantage major to be linked to the fire pump (by the hydrostatic transmission).
- the present invention aims to solve the previously mentioned problems, by proposing a device autonomous, positioned near the reserve of additive product but independent of it and the fire pump, therefore with great flexibility of use, and using simple, reliable and at a reasonable cost, while ensuring precise dosing and a homogeneous mixture of the adduct with water, without generating pressure losses.
- the proposed device can be inserted freely downstream of the fire pump (which is therefore not not crossed by the adduct), therefore between the water pumping vehicle and the fire hose, which allows you to position it where the supply of additive is easiest.
- the device therefore has the major advantage of being able fit into existing operational schemes, and thus adapt to the material in place, which allows to obtain a complete efficient system with a reasonable investment.
- the presence of the product recycling tank addition also contributes to the autonomy of the device object of the invention, by allowing this device to operate "in closed circuit", by freeing itself from a return in the reserve of additive product, which return includes a risk of overflowing or mixing between products incompatible.
- the recycling tank is divided into two compartments, communicating with each other in a limited way, by at minus an internal anti-turbulence bulkhead, the return from motorized regulating valve leading to one of the compartments, while the other compartment has at its lower part the connection of the pipe coming from the reserve of addition product, and has at its upper part the start of the suction line supplying the pump volumetric.
- the use a motorized regulating valve combined with a block of electronic regulation, according to a diagram of simple operation, allows precise regulation the flow rate of adduct injected as a function of the programmed proportion, expressable in particular in the form a percentage setpoint, regardless of the viscosity of the adduct.
- the injector arranged tangentially to the vein of water and provided with a kind of diffuser, the mixture of product with water is carried out without pressure drop for the water pipe, and very homogeneously.
- the injector structure requires minimum pressure to introduce the adduct into the water pipe, which avoids wastage of this product and allows operate the positive displacement pump in a closed circuit (recycling of all the additive product flow).
- the single figure illustrates, in a form schematically, the principle of realization and operation of an injection and metering device a liquid adduct, such as an foam concentrate, in a water pipe 1.
- a liquid adduct such as an foam concentrate
- the water passing through pipe 1 is setting in motion and pressure in this pipe 1 by a pump 2 (fire pump), located upstream of all injection and dosing device, designated in its together by the reference 3.
- a pump 2 fire pump
- Downstream of this device 3, the mixture of water and additive, such as foam concentrate, is directed to a user device 4, such as a lance fire.
- the injection and metering device 3 comprises a positive displacement pump 5, driven by a motor 6 which can be a heat engine.
- the adduct is stored in a tank 7.
- a suction line 8 comprising a non-return valve 9 connects the bottom of the tank 7 at the bottom of a recycling tank 10.
- the output of this pump volumetric 5 supplies a motorized regulating valve 12, an outlet channel of which is connected by a pipe return 13 to the recycling tank 10.
- the other outlet of the regulating valve 12 constitutes the starting point of a pipe 14, on which is interposed with an axial turbine flow meter 15.
- Line 14 leads to an injector 16 disposed at inside the water pipe 1.
- Another turbine flow meter 17 is placed in the water line 1 upstream of the injector 16, for the measurement of the water flow sent by pump 2.
- the injector 16 and the flow meter 17 are fixed on a support tube which can be easily inserted into water line 1 thanks to suitable fittings.
- the injector 16 itself consists of a fixed tubular pipe 18 arranged parallel to the axis of the water pipe 1, of a movable piston 19 of conical shape suitable for closing the outlet before the line 18, and a return spring 20 placed at the rear of the injector 16 and acting on the rod of the piston 19 in the direction of closing the pipe 18.
- the injection of the additive product takes place when the pressure of this additive product, brought through line 14, is sufficient to take off the piston 19 from its seat.
- the conical shape of this piston 19 allows, in the open position, better diffusion of the additive product in water, therefore a good mixture of water with this additive product.
- the flow meter 15 mounted on the pipe 14 traversed by the additive product, and the other flow meter 17 placed in water line 1, are connected electrically to an electronic control unit 21, by respective electrical connections 22 and 23 which convey signals representative of product flow additive d and water flow D, respectively.
- the box electronic 21 has an input 24 for introduction a percentage setpoint C programmed by the operator, and an output 25 for controlling the motor electric 26 of the regulating valve 12.
- the recycling tank 10 is divided in two separate compartments 27 and 28, one communicating with the other in a limited way, by one or more partitions anti-turbulence interior 29.
- One of the compartments 27, in which the return line 13 ends, is reserved recycling the adduct.
- the other compartment 28 has at its lower part the admission of the product addition, arriving via line 8 from the tank 7, and has at its upper part the start of the line 11 directing the adduct towards the orifice of the positive displacement pump 5.
- fire pump 2 and positive displacement pump 5 operate simultaneously, providing each a certain flow, and the motorized regulating valve 12 calibrate the return flow rate of the additive product, brought back by the return line 13 to the recycling tank 10.
- the electronic means contained in the housing of regulation 21, calculate the percentage at all times expressing the ratio between the flow rate of additive product d given by the flow meter 15, and the water flow D given by the flow meter 17, and compare this calculated percentage to the percentage setpoint C programmed by the operator. In depending on the result of the comparison, these means control the motorized valve 12, sending to its motor 26 electric control pulses more or less long, negative or positive, depending on the difference between the actual percentage determined by measurement and calculation, and the programmed percentage C.
- valve motorized 12 is actuated so as to further close the outlet channel opening into the return line 13, and correspondingly increase the flow rate of additive product sent via line 14 to injector 16. Conversely, if the actual percentage is greater than percentage programmed, motorized valve 12 is actuated so as to further open the through exit route in return line 13, and to decrease correlatively the flow rate of additive product sent by the line 14 to the injector 17.
- the motorized valve 12 can close or completely open the product passage addition to the return pipe 13.
- the regulation system operating in a loop closed electric, thus allows, whatever the flow or the water pressure in line 1, to inject into the latter an additive product with a concentration specifies, without the operator having to intervene.
- All regulation parameters, or those relating to flowmeters 15 and 17, are programmable at from a keyboard (not shown).
- Functions main of the regulation unit 21 are, as for them, programmed during the manufacture of the device, to from a standard regulation card.
- the control unit 21 can be equipped with so as to display the programmed percentage C (defined above), as well as the actual percentage calculated from flow information d and D delivered respectively by the two flowmeters 15 and 17.
- the value of the flow of water D running along line 1 can also be directly displayed.
- the housing 21 can also be equipped to perform other functions such as: totalization of flows, determination of the volume of Addition product remaining in tank 7 or indication any other information, as requested by users.
- an alternator mounted on the motor 6 of the pump 5 allows to supply a battery, constituting the energy source flowmeters 15 and 17, electronic control unit regulation 21 and all the ancillary electrical equipment.
- the reserve of additive product can be integrated to the device, or constituted by a tank truck, or still be carried out in the form of small cans ability, without moving away from the mind of the invention.
