Description

  • La présente invention se rapporte au domaine technique général des appareils conçus pour assurer la mise en forme d'un article textile tel qu'un vêtement, en le soumettant à l'action combinée d'un traitement thermique et d'un traitement mécanique de repassage.
  • La présente invention concerne un fer à repasser, de type électrique comportant une semelle de repassage définissant une surface d'appui, une zone arrière formant le talon du fer, ledit fer présentant un centre de gravité conférant à l'appareil une position stable de travail lorsque le fer repose sur la semelle.
  • De manière classique les fers à repasser comprennent une semelle de repassage formant l'organe principal du fer et constituant l'élément plan porteur destiné à venir en contact avec le linge. La semelle de repassage est en relation thermique avec des moyens de chauffe, par exemple une résistance blindée, destinée à porter la semelle, en matériau métallique, à haute température en vue d'accélérer l'échange thermique entre la semelle et le linge. Ce dernier est également de manière classique, étendu sur un support de repassage, tel qu'une table à repasser, s'étendant dans un plan sensiblement horizontal.
  • De tels fers sont par exemple décrits dans le GB-A-2160229. Ce document divulgue en effet un fer à repasser pourvu d'une poignée inclinée permettant une tenue plus naturelle du fer lorsqu'il est dans sa position horizontale de travail. Ce fer comporte également un talon dont les caractéristiques géométriques ne sont pas définies, pas plus d'ailleurs que l'éventuelle relation géométrique avec le centre de gravité du fer. Ce document divulgue un fer classique de l'art antérieur, dont le talon n'a aucune fonction particulière, sauf celle éventuelle de servir d'aire d'appui stable pour une position verticale du fer en vue de faciliter son remplissage. Une telle position est bien évidemment dangereuse.
  • La conception des fers à repasser, ainsi que la position de leur centre de gravité est telle que lorsque le fer repose en appui sur la table à repasser par l'intermédiaire de sa semelle, il occupe une position d'équilibre stable, même lorsqu'il est abandonné à lui-même. La position du centre de gravité, généralement sous la poignée du fer, est relativement proche de la semelle et du plan médian du fer et telle que la projection du centre de gravité se situe dans le polygone de sustentation du fer qui est représenté par la surface entière de la semelle.
  • Pendant les cycles de repassage, l'utilisatrice est amenée à se dessaisir régulièrement du fer pour pouvoir procéder à différentes manipulation nécessitant l'utilisation de ses deux mains, à savoir par exemple le déplacement, le pliage ou le retournement de l'article à repasser. Au cours de ces phases de manipulation, le fer est soit posé horizontalement et à distance de l'article à repasser, sur un support approprié, ou posé sur la partie arrière du fer formant le talon. Dans ce dernier cas le talon du fer à repasser doit bien évidemment être conformé et conçu de manière à pouvoir assurer une position stable du fer lorsque ce dernier repose sur un plan sensiblement horizontal, la semelle du fer étant alors sensiblement proche d'une position verticale. Dans ces conditions le centre de gravité du fer se trouve éloigné du point d'appui, et le polygone de sustentation du fer est représenté par la surface du talon. La position de repos du fer sur le talon est une position relativement dangereuse dans la mesure où la surface du talon est de dimension modeste par rapport à la plus grande dimension du fer, et en particulier par rapport à la surface de la semelle de repassage. La position de repos du fer sur son talon peut donc être considérée comme ne répondant pas à tous les critères de sécurité auxquels sont sensibles les utilisatrices, le fer pouvant dans cette position être plus facilement heurté et tomber ou le cordon du fer tiré par inadvertance, le fer déséquilibré tombant alors facilement.
  • Par ailleurs la nécessité de poser à intervalles réguliers ou non le fer soit verticalement, soit horizontalement dans une zone prévue à cet effet, constitue une contrainte d'utilisation perçue d'une manière particulièrement négative par l'utilisatrice. En outre, le positionnement correct du fer dans sa position de repos sensiblement verticale, nécessite malgré tout une attention soutenue de la part de l'utilisatrice, attention qui diminue dans le temps avec la fatigue et peut être à l'origine de risques de brûlures ou même de chutes du fer. En dernier lieu il est reconnu que l'opération continue de passage d'une position verticale à une position horizontale d'un fer à repasser constitue un mouvement sollicitant physiquement le poignet de l'utilisatrice et conduisant à une fatigue physique certaine.
  • L'objet de la présente invention vise par conséquent à porter remède aux différents problèmes mentionnés précédemment, et à fournir un fer à repasser dont la stabilité et la sécurité de l'utilisation est améliorée, et ne comportant qu'une seule position stable de travail en usage normal.
  • Les objets assignés à l'invention sont atteints à l'aide d'un fer à repasser comportant une semelle de repassage définissant une surface d'appui, une zone arrière formant le talon du fer et un centre de gravité G conférant au fer une position stable de travail lorsque le fer repose sur la semelle caractérisé en ce que le talon du fer forme une aire d'appui instable qui est conformée et disposée géométriquement par rapport au centre de gravité G pour qu'en référence au plan horizontal et en cas d'appui sur ledit plan de l'une quelconque des aires unitaires de l'aire d'appui instable la projection du centre de gravité G sur ledit plan soit située hors de l'aire d'appui instable.
  • D'autres particularités et avantages de l'invention apparaîtront et ressortiront plus en détail à la lecture de la description faite ci-après en référence aux dessins annexés, donnés à titre d'exemples illustratifs et non limitatifs, dans lesquels :
    • La figure 1 illustre, selon une vue latérale, un fer à repasser conforme à l'invention en position stable de travail sur un support plan.
    • Les figures 2, 3 et 4 illustrent de manière non limitative, quelques positions d'appui instables sur son talon, d'un fer à repasser conforme à l'invention.
  • La figure 1 montre une vue générale schématique d'un fer à repasser conforme à l'invention comportant une enveloppe externe en matériau plastique formant un habillage 1 dans lequel est ménagée à sa partie supérieure, une poignée 2. Le fer à repasser comprend également une semelle de repassage 3 qui peut être pourvue, selon une version préférentielle de l'invention, d'orifices de distribution de vapeur non représentés aux figures. La semelle de repassage 3 est, de manière classique, réalisée en un matériau métallique, tel que l'aluminium, et définit une surface d'appui sensiblement plane pour le fer à repasser.
  • Le fer à repasser conforme à l'invention comporte tous les éléments essentiels au fonctionnement normal d'un fer à repasser classique, tels qu'une chambre de vaporisation, un ou plusieurs éléments chauffants et en particulier un élément chauffant plat tel que celui qui est décrit dans la demande de brevet Français FR-92.00.970. De tels éléments sont classiques et bien connus de l'art antérieur et ne seront donc pas décrits en détail dans la description qui suit.
  • Le fer à repasser conforme à l'invention comporte un centre de gravité G, situé sensiblement selon le plan médian M du fer et de préférence dans sa partie basse, c'est à dire dans une zone plus proche de la semelle de repassage 3 que de la poignée 2. Un tel positionnement géométrique est classique dans l'art antérieur et permet au fer d'occuper une position stable de travail sur un support plan horizontal 4 lorsqu'il est en appui sur la surface formée par la semelle de repassage 3. Dans cette position, la surface de repassage 3 forme le polygone de sustentation du fer, la projection du centre de gravité G passant alors obligatoirement par la surface représentée par la semelle de repassage 3.
  • Le fer à repasser conforme à l'invention comporte également une zone arrière 5 formant le talon du fer. Cette zone relie la partie arrière de la semelle de repassage 3 à la partie supérieure du fer formée dans le cas présent par une extrémité de la poignée 2. Selon une caractéristique essentielle de l'invention, le talon 5 forme une aire d'appui instable qui est conformée et disposée géométriquement par rapport au centre de gravité G pour qu'en référence au plan horizontal, et dans le cas présent à la surface d'appui 4, et en cas d'appui sur ledit plan, de l'une quelconque des aires unitaires constituant l'aire d'appui instable, la projection du centre de gravité G sur ledit plan soit située hors de l'aire d'appui instable. Cette caractéristique empêche donc de faire reposer de manière stable le fer sur son talon qui a donc une tendance naturelle à venir reposer naturellement, de préférence à plat, sur la semelle 3.
  • Selon l'une des versions préférentielles de l'invention montrée à l'une quelconque des figures 1 à 4, le talon 5 forme une aire d'appui instable qui est formée de plusieurs aires unitaires 5a, 5b, 5c par exemple, qui s'étendent suivant des plans d'extension différents les uns des autres.
  • Tel que cela est montré aux figures 1 à 4, l'aire d'appui instable comporte au moins une aire unitaire bombée, et en particulier trois, constituant une suite de zone 5a, 5b, 5c, alternativement concaves et convexes. Dans les exemples de réalisations pratiques représentées, l'aire d'appui instable débute à la jonction avec la partie arrière de la semelle de repassage 3 par une zone de convexité 5a, tournée vers l'extérieur, suivie par une zone concave 5b, elle-même suivie par une zone convexe 5c formant la partie terminale du talon 5.
  • La poignée 2 laisse à la ménagère la possibilité de poser le fer sur son talon, et la figure 2 illustre un exemple particulier de possibilité de positionnement du fer. Dans la position montrée à la figure 2, lorsque la ménagère pose le fer sur l'extrémité terminale de la seconde zone convexe 5c, le contact entre cette zone et le plan d'appui 4 est ponctuel et la ménagère ne peut lâcher son fer sans qu'il bascule vers l'avant sous l'action de la pesanteur de manière à venir en appui au moins sur la partie centrale de la seconde zone convexe 5c. Dans cette position (non représentée aux figures) la projection du centre de gravité G sur le plan d'appui 4 est situé hors de l'aire d'appui instable représentée par l'aire du talon 5.
  • La figure 3 illustre la mise en appui du fer conforme à l'invention selon les zones 5a et 5c qui sont avantageusement réglées et dont les lignes de contact définissent un polygone dont la verticale issue du point G est extérieure au polygone. Ceci correspond en conséquence à une zone d'appui instable du fer qui à nouveau bascule vers l'avant.
  • La figure 4 illustre une position instable du fer correspondant à un contact qui s'établit dans une zone voisine de la semelle de repassage 3, par exemple au niveau de la zone convexe 5a. Dans cette position la projection du centre de gravité G est située hors de l'aire d'appui instable ce qui contribue à initier le basculement du fer vers l'avant.
  • La forme du fer conforme à l'invention, et en particulier la conformation spécifique du talon 5 empêche l'utilisatrice d'utiliser le fer autrement que dans la position la plus stable de l'appareil, c'est à dire en appui sur la semelle de repassage 3. Ceci constitue un facteur de sécurité supplémentaire puisqu'il s'est avéré que toute position même instable du fer sur son talon était considérée comme dangereuse et moins stable que sur la semelle de repassage 3. Par ailleurs la possibilité de s'affranchir de la nécessité de disposer d'au moins une position stable du fer sur son talon permet de conférer à cette zone des fonctions techniques supplémentaires, et en particulier d'y placer ou loger d'autres éléments ou unités techniques au préalable nécessairement disposées dans une autre zone du fer.
  • Il est bien évident que le recours à une zone arrière du fer formant nécessairement une aire d'appui instable implique de fournir avec le fer les moyens nécessaires pour que ce dernier repose sur sa semelle de repassage sans risque de brûler le support ou le linge à repasser lorsque le fer est à l'arrêt. Les moyens nécessaires pour remplir cette fonction peuvent consister soit de manière classique en une zone de repos spécifique sur laquelle vient reposer le fer, soit en une semelle de repassage 3 à faible inertie thermique, telle que celle décrite par exemple dans la demande de brevet n° 93.13.304 du même demandeur, dont le contenu est considéré comme incorporé dans la présente demande. Selon cette demande, la semelle a une épaisseur inférieure à 1 mm et est solidaire du corps du fer par l'intermédiaire d'une structure de raidissement perméable et réalisée en un matériau isolant thermique. Une telle semelle permet une baisse de température extrêmement rapide de la semelle lorsque le fer est à l'arrêt. Dans ce dernier cas, le fer est équipé d'un moyen de détection du mouvement du fer permettant à l'arrêt, au bout d'une durée de consigne, par exemple au bout de 3 secondes d'immobilité, d'interrompre l'alimentation électrique. Une autre possibilité est de n'alimenter le fer que lorsqu'on s'en saisit comme décrit dans la demande de brevet français N° 93.11624, dont le contenu est également considéré comme incorporé dans la présente demande.

Claims (6)

  1. Fer à repasser comportant une semelle de repassage (3) définissant une surface d'appui, une zone arrière formant le talon (5) du fer et un centre de gravité G conférant au fer une position stable de travail lorsque le fer repose sur la semelle (3)
    caractérisé en ce que le talon (5) du fer forme une aire d'appui instable qui est conformée et disposée géométriquement par rapport au centre de gravité G pour qu'en référence au plan horizontal et en cas d'appui sur ledit plan de l'une quelconque des aires unitaires (5a, 5b, 5c) de l'aire d'appui instable la projection du centre de gravité G sur ledit plan soit située hors de l'aire d'appui instable.
  2. Fer à repasser selon la revendication 1 caractérisé en ce que l'aire d'appui instable est formée de plusieurs aires unitaires (5a, 5b, 5c) qui s'étendent dans des plans d'extension différents les uns des autres.
  3. Fer à repasser selon la revendication 1 ou 2 caractérisé en ce que l'aire d'appui instable comporte au moins une aire unitaire bombée.
  4. Fer à repasser selon la revendication 3 caractérisé en ce que l'aire d'appui instable comporte une série d'aires unitaires bombées constituant une suite de zones alternativement concaves et convexes.
  5. Fer à repasser selon la revendication 4 caractérisé en ce que l'aire d'appui instable débute à la jonction avec la partie arrière de la semelle de repassage (3) par une zone de convexité (5a) tournée vers l'extérieur, suivie par une zone concave (5b), suivie elle-même par une seconde zone convexe (5c).
  6. Fer à repasser selon l'une des revendications 1 à 5 caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte une semelle de repassage (3) à faible inertie thermique.
