Definitions

  • the invention relates to multi-wall sheets made of polycarbonate for hard roofing of buildings or parts of buildings.
  • the materials used must not burn or melt when burning objects hit them in such a way that the burning object falls into the roofed part of the building and can trigger a secondary fire there.
  • the suitability of roofing material is checked according to DIN 4102 Part 7 by a fire test. In this test, wood wool, which is located in a wire frame, is burned off at four points on the test roof under defined conditions.
  • Essential criteria for passing the test are that on the surface or inside, destroyed surfaces do not exceed a defined size, no liquid, burning parts drip down the roof edge, no flames occur on the underside of the roof, no parts burn off or glow and that the roof remains closed so that no burning or smoldering parts can fall through.
  • DIN 4102 Part 7 and provide protection against secondary fire are approved as roofing of buildings or parts of buildings. Exemptions are only granted if there is no significant risk from the risk of secondary fires. This can be the case, for example, for buildings or parts of buildings that are generally not entered by people and do not contain any highly flammable substances, or for roofs of small size where it is easy to avoid secondary fires without endangering them.
  • DE-U-94 08 574 describes extruded flat multi-wall sheets made of thermoplastic material, in which one outer wall is at least 1.3 times as thick as the other, whereby the hail resistance is improved. A thickness between 0.3 and 2.5 mm is proposed for the lower flange. In the case of polycarbonate, 0.8 to 1.1 mm are stated to be favorable.
  • the object of the present invention was to develop a multi-wall sheet that meets the requirements for hard roofing according to DIN 4102 Part 7.
  • the object was achieved by a multi-wall plate made of polycarbonate, in which the belt surfaces are at least 3 mm thick, the webs are at least 2.5 mm thick, the webs are at a distance of at most 40 mm and the height of the plate is at least 30 mm.
  • the effect of the invention is based essentially on the specified geometric dimensions of the multi-wall sheet, which are designed so that surprisingly there is no burning of the lump of wood wool in the fire test.
  • the multi-wall sheets made of polycarbonate according to the invention are so far the only sheets of this type that meet the requirements according to DIN 4102 Part 7 for hard roofing . It is therefore possible to use the well-known architectural and structural advantages of the multi-wall sheet for large-scale roofing without the need for individual exemptions from the authorities. The need for justification and, if necessary, the dispute in the event of disagreement as to the existence of an exception requirement does not apply. This considerably extends the possible area of application for this type of high-quality, transparent or translucent roofing. Since in many cases, regardless of building regulations, builders have the desire for high safety standards, the multi-wall sheet according to the invention can also be used for elements previously designed as soft, transparent or translucent roofing, since it generally offers greater protection against burning objects hitting from above.
  • the multi-wall sheets according to the invention can be known per se Way are made by extrusion.
  • the belt surfaces must be at least 3 mm thick, the webs are at least 2.5 mm thick, the distance between the webs being at most 40 mm may be.
  • the plate height must be at least 30 mm.
  • the Dimensions of the belt surfaces, webs, web spacing and the plate height are essential for the fulfillment of the criteria of the fire test according to DIN 4102 Part 7.
  • the at least 3 mm thick belt on the top prevents a rapid melting of the surface.
  • the at least 2.5 mm thick Bridges hold the after the upper belt surface has melted glowing lump of wood wool removed from the lower belt surface. This however, only appears at a spacing of 40 mm or more of the plate of at least 30 mm possible.
  • Preferred dimensions for the thickness of the belt surfaces are 3 to 8 mm, particularly 3 to 4 mm are preferred.
  • Favorable dimensions for the thickness of the webs are 2.5 to 6 mm, particularly preferred are 3 to 4 mm.
  • Preferred The spacing between the bars is 20 to 40 mm.
  • the preferred plate height is 40 to 60 mm.
  • Usual other plate dimensions are 1 m to 10 m x 0.6 m to 2.1 m (length x Width).
  • Known thermoplastic bisphenol A plastics are known as polycarbonate used. Also copolymers that have limited proportions of others Bisphenol residues can be used. Usually contains the Plastic low proportions of UV absorbers. It is a matter of transparent or translucent colored polycarbonate. The Visibility is at least 20%, preferably 45 to 85%.
  • At least one panel surface is weatherproof, for example by a co-extruded layer of thermoplastic Plastic with a high proportion of UV absorbers. Suitable is e.g. a 50 ⁇ m thick layer with 5 - 10 wt .-% UV absorbers, preferably under Extrusion conditions are not or only slightly volatile.
  • Corresponding Equipped polycarbonate sheets are known from EP 0 372 213 B1. It has surprisingly it has been shown that plates with such coextruded cover layers behave even more advantageously in the fire test than corresponding panels without a top layer. Apparently emerges among the Fire conditions a charred insulation layer that the underlying Shields material.
  • the multi-wall sheets are used as material for transparent, hard but also for soft roofing of buildings or parts of buildings.
  • light strips of more than 20 m in length and more than 2 m in width can be carried out without interruption.
  • Large-scale transparent roofing of parts of buildings or entire buildings can be realized regardless of their external dimensions. Examples of large-scale roofing objects are roofs for shopping arcades, football stadiums, bus stops, train station halls, etc. In this sense, large-area roofing is to be seen as coherent areas, possibly interrupted by laying profiles, which go beyond the permissible exceptions within the hard roofing .
  • the multi-wall sheets according to the invention can be used in order to maintain the higher safety standard according to DIN 4102 Part 7.
  • roofing is created from a large number of individual, usually rectangular, slabs, which can be arranged in one or more rows.
  • customary laying systems for example with clamp connections, are considered, which are generally used in the construction of soft roofs.
  • Elastic sealing profiles on the legs and / or cover strips can be used to manufacture wind and waterproof roof covers.
  • Such mounting accessories are known, for example, from the delivery programs of manufacturers of multi-wall sheets.
  • the following table shows the results of the fire tests according to DIN 4102 Part 7 with four double-wall sheets of different designs.
  • the double-wall sheet 1 not according to the invention does not meet the requirements, while the double-wall sheets 2, 3 and 4 according to the invention pass the test.
  • Test according to DIN 4102 part 7 passed yes / no No Yes Yes Yes Yes
