Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for strapping packaged goods by means of a strapping, in particular consisting of thermoplastic, with the features specified in the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such a strapping device is known from DE 33 03 956 A1. It has a machine table on which the packaged goods can be moved into and out of the strapping device in a transport direction by means of a transport device in the form of a conveyor belt or a roller conveyor. Furthermore, a strap guide device is provided on the machine table, by means of which the strapping strap can be guided around the packaged goods as a loose loop. For this purpose, a strap guide frame is provided in which a strap channel receiving the strapping strap is formed.
  • thermoplastic strapping tape is shot into the tape channel of the tape guide device by means of a shooting-in and retraction device and then pulled tight around the packaged goods.
  • a connecting device which is in particular a welding head, fixes the strapping band loop, which is tightened around the packaged goods, in particular by welding the overlapping strapping ends and separates the band from the incoming band supply.
  • the construction of the belt guide device discussed above brings with it problems in the longitudinal strapping of packaged goods.
  • transverse strapping in which the packaged goods can be inserted unhindered into the opening of the belt guide frame standing transversely and vertically to the transport direction
  • the belt guide frame is in the transport path of the packaged goods during longitudinal strapping.
  • the vertical limbs of the belt guide frame crossing the transport path must be pivotable away or displaceable to the side, as indicated in DE 33 03 956 A1. This entails considerable design effort.
  • a possible starting point for solving this problem is already specified in the specified publication, namely to place the two intersecting strap guide frames for transverse and longitudinal strapping diagonally to the transport route of the packaged goods.
  • the packaged goods themselves have to be rotated, which in turn entails additional design effort.
  • this twisting can impair the packaged goods, for example a stack of magazines that has not yet been strapped can be shifted within itself or even collapse when rotated.
  • a strapping device is known in which the strapping must be pulled by hand over a free distance in a band guide and must be re-threaded into a returning, funnel-shaped part of this band guide.
  • the arrangement shown is completely unsuitable for automatic strapping.
  • the strapping is "pushed" into a loop, the free end of the band always remaining in a so-called turning clamp.
  • the strapping tape is not shot at any time during the banding process, as is provided in a device of the generic type.
  • GB-A-915 173 discloses a machine for securing a metal band, wire or similar flexible binder around a container, box, packaging or the like.
  • a metal strip is pushed between guide sections over a free air gap, which obviously takes place at a relatively slow speed, since the metal strip is pulled off directly from a supply roll.
  • the object of the invention is to further develop a strapping device of the generic type with regard to its strap guiding device in such a way that straight guidance of the strap is ensured during the passage through the air gap.
  • the transport path in a longitudinal strapping machine remains completely free and consequently no belt frame parts need to be pivoted away from the transport path in order to move the packaged goods into or out of the strapping position.
  • the strapping is rather practically "shot” over the free air gap.
  • the strapping tape is guided with compressed air as it is guided over the at least one free air gap. Due to this compressed air support, an air flow surrounds the belt in the area of the free air gap, which stabilizes the belt against buckling.
  • the compressed air nozzle arrangement provided according to the invention generates a compressed air jet flowing along the respective free air gap, which pneumatically guides the strapping band passing through the air gap.
  • the nozzle arrangement preferably consists of two compressed air nozzles arranged next to one another, between which the strapping tape is passed with its flat sides facing the nozzles or from an annular compressed air nozzle (claims 2 and 3).
  • a catching device is provided according to claim 4 for the beginning of the strap leading in when the strapping is shot in, which is preferably an inlet funnel (claim 5).
  • the additional belt drive devices provided according to claims 6 and 7 in the inlet area of the guide channel sections ensure trouble-free guiding of the strapping around the packaged goods.
  • the additional strap drive devices support the introduction of the leading strap start of the strapping strap from the free air gap into the following guide channel section.
  • Claims 8 and 9 and 10 identify alternative embodiments of the subject matter of the invention which are particularly advantageous for longitudinal strapping machines.
  • a further technical measure can be provided in a strapping device according to the invention in order to support the straightforward and precise "overshoot" of the strapping over the at least one free air gap. Accordingly, provision is made to produce a stretching effect on the band by suddenly braking the strapping band while leading its leading band beginning over the at least one free air gap. If the beginning of the tape deviates from a straight trajectory during its "overshoot", braking makes it practical stretched like a kind of "whip".
  • the braking mechanism of the strapping device can be stopped briefly, for example, for braking.
  • the roller arrangement for leveling the strapping which is provided according to claim 12, provides a further supportive measure for a straightforward and precise "shooting" of the strapping over the at least one free air gap.
  • a basic problem with strapping tapes, in particular made of thermoplastic, is that these tapes are delivered on a supply reel in the wound state and are inserted into the strapping device. This winding impresses a tendency toward curvature, which manifests itself, for example, in the fact that a strip that has been unwound from the spool and left to itself rolls up again in the direction of winding.
  • the explained tendency to curvature entails the risk that the leading start of the band will automatically deflect while it is being guided over the at least one free air gap, so that the accuracy of accuracy suffers.
  • a roller arrangement is provided according to claim 12, through which the strapping is passed with alternating directions of curvature. After this roller arrangement had been run through, a strapping left to itself would lie flat on a support and would no longer show any tendency to curl up. As a result, the leading strap start of a strapping treated in this way no longer shows any tendency to deflect.
  • FIG. 1 to 3 show partially broken away, schematic perspective representations of three different embodiments of a strapping device according to the invention.
  • the strapping device shown in FIG. 1 is a longitudinal strapping machine and has a machine table 1 with a base frame 2 and a table surface 3.
  • a pair of conveyor belts arranged parallel to one another is arranged on the table surface 3, of which only the conveyor belt 4 can be seen in the drawing.
  • the packaged goods (not shown) - for example a stack of magazines - can be moved into the strapping device in the transport direction T and can be removed therefrom.
  • the injection and retraction device 8 consists of a pair of drive rollers 10 which is driven by an electric motor 11 which is reversible in its direction of rotation. Otherwise, the band storage with intermediate storage 7, the shooting-in and retraction device 8 and the welding head 9 are of a type which is common in strapping devices and therefore do not require any further discussion with regard to their structure and function.
  • a roller arrangement 45 is arranged in the course of the band between the supply reel 5 and the intermediate store 7 - that is generally in front of the insertion and retraction device 8 - through which the strapping band 6 is guided.
  • the roller arrangement 45 consists of a central embossing roller 46 and two pressure rollers 47, 48, each with a circumference forming a nip, which are arranged on the inlet or outlet side of the roller arrangement 45. This roller arrangement 45 serves - as explained - to align the strapping band 6.
  • the band is guided around the inlet-side pressure roller 47 with a direction of curvature in a clockwise direction, then runs over the embossing roller 46 with a direction of curvature in the counterclockwise direction and then again over the outlet-side pressure roller 48 with a clockwise direction of curvature.
  • a strap guide device designated as a whole by 12, is provided in the strapping device, by means of which the strapping strap 6 can be guided as a loop, loosely oriented vertically and parallel to the transport direction T, around the packaged goods that have been moved into the strapping position.
  • This belt guide device 12 has a lower guide channel section 13, which runs parallel to the transport direction T and is located below the table surface 3 in the machine table 1. Above the table surface 3, an upper guide channel section 16 is arranged on gallows-shaped supports 14, 15, which runs parallel to the lower guide channel section 13 and is aligned with the latter in the vertical direction. Both guide channel sections 13, 16 are formed in a known manner by profile parts with a U-shaped cross section, in which the strapping 6 runs along.
  • the band guide device 12 also has a free, vertically oriented air gap 17, 18 (indicated by dashed lines in the drawing) between the respectively associated ends 19, 20 or 21 or 22 of the lower and upper guide channel sections 13, 16.
  • the strapping band 6 is guided with compressed air by means of these two free air gaps 17, 18 when it is shot into the band guiding device 12.
  • compressed air nozzle arrangements 23, 24 are arranged at the outlet (end 19 or 21) of the lower or upper guide channel section 13 or 16, each of which has a compressed air jet flowing along the free air gap 17, 18 in the direction of the opposite guide channel section 13 or 16 Generate D o or D u .
  • the nozzle arrangements 23, 24 each consist of two compressed air nozzles 25 arranged next to one another, between which the strapping 6 is passed with its flat sides facing the nozzles 25.
  • the air pressure nozzles 25 of the lower compressed air nozzle arrangement 23 at the end 19 of the lower guide channel section 13 are below the table surface 3 arranged and generate a vertically upward compressed air jet D o .
  • the two other air pressure nozzles 25 of the compressed air nozzle arrangement 24 arranged at the end 21 of the upper guide channel section 16 are aligned in such a way that they produce a compressed air jet D u pointing downwards.
  • a catching device in the form of a funnel-shaped collecting opening 26, 27 is provided, which ensures that the leading beginning of the strip reliably enters the respective guide channel section 13, 16.
  • An additional belt drive device 30, 31, which has a pair of drive rollers 33 actuated by an electric motor 32, adjoins the funnel part of the collecting opening 26, 27 in the inlet region 28, 29 of the two guide channel sections 13, 16.
  • the two drive devices 30, 31 are thus arranged in the deflection areas at the inlet-side ends 20, 22 of the two guide channel sections 13, 16.
  • There, just as at the other ends 19, 21, are provided conventional deflection pieces, not shown, which deflect the strapping 6 from its horizontal direction in the two guide channel sections 13, 16 into the vertical air gap 17, 18, respectively.
  • the additional belt drive devices 30, 31 and the nozzle arrangements 23, 24 are controlled via a control device 34, the nozzle arrangements 23, 24 being connected in a conventional manner to a compressed air source and the compressed air supply being switched on and off by electromagnetic valves becomes.
  • the valves are omitted in the drawing for the sake of clarity. Only the control lines 35, 36 controlling the valves and the two control lines 37, 38 for the additional belt drive devices 30, 31 are indicated.
  • the functioning of the strapping device can be explained as follows: As soon as a packaged good, for example a stack of magazines, is moved into the strapping position on the machine table 1 with the aid of the conveyor belts 4 , the pair of drive rollers 10 of the insertion and retraction device 8 is actuated and the strapping 6 is inserted from the intermediate storage 7 into the lower guide channel section 13 of the tape guide device 12, passed through the welding head 9 in the insertion direction E and, after being deflected, enters the end 19 of the lower one Guide channel section 13 into the air gap 17.
  • a packaged good for example a stack of magazines
  • the tape drive device 30 was already set in motion beforehand, so that the leading tape start is picked up by the drive roller pair 33 and the strapping tape 6 is shot into the upper guide channel section 16.
  • the compressed air supply to the nozzle arrangement 23 can be switched off since the pneumatic guidance of the strapping 6 along the air gap 17 is no longer required.
  • the strand of the strapping 6 passing through the air gap 17 is pulled by the belt drive device 30.
  • the strapping 6 After the leading beginning of the band has passed through the upper guide channel section 16 with its deflection at the end 21, the strapping 6 enters the second air gap 18, which it runs vertically from top to bottom. Before entering, the nozzle arrangement 24 there was already activated, so that the downward compressed air jet D u in turn guides the strip. In the accompanying drawing, a snapshot is practically recorded, which shows the strapping 6 as it travels through the air gap 18 with its leading strap 39. In this context, it should be mentioned that in order to support a straight trajectory of the leading band start 39 over the free air gap 17 or 18, the strapping 6 can be delayed, for example, by sudden braking of the drive roller pair 33. An effect which can best be described as a "whip effect" occurs, through which the leading band beginning 39 - if it has been deflected from the imaginary straight line along the free air gap 17 or 18 - again stretches due to its inertia.
  • the leading band start 39 enters the catch opening 27, the strapping band 6 is gripped by the band drive device 31 and transported further into the lower guide channel section 13 until the leading band start 39 enters the welding head 9.
  • the drive roller pairs 10, 33 are switched off, the leading strip start is held in the welding head and the drive roller pair 10 is put into operation in the opposite direction of rotation.
  • the upper and lower guide channel sections 13 and 16 are opened and the rollers of the drive roller pairs 33 pointing towards the inside are pivoted away.
  • the strapping 6 can emerge freely from the strap guide device 12 and lie tightly around the packaged goods.
  • the retracted strand of the strapping 6 is stored in the buffer 7.
  • the welding head 9 is activated.
  • the strapping band parts overlapping there are welded together and separated from the band supply.
  • the packaged goods are thus strapped lengthways and can be moved out of the strapping device in the transport direction T by means of the conveyor belts 4.
  • the funnel parts forming the collecting openings 26, 27 have slots 40 on their inside through which the strapping 6 can pass when it is pulled back.
  • the strapping device shown in FIG. 2 is also a longitudinal strapping machine and differs from the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 only in the design of the upper guide channel section 16. Although this is in a common vertical plane with the lower guide channel section 13, it is in its Longitudinal course formed as a flat arc 41, which connects the inlet-side collecting opening 26 with the outlet-side nozzle arrangement 24. Due to the flat, curved shape of the upper guide channel section 16, the belt drive device 30 can be dispensed with. The strapping 6 is rather advanced by the feed of the shooting-in and retraction device 8 over the sheet 41 and occurs at it End through the compressed air nozzle assembly 24 into the second air gap 18.
  • the strapping device shown in FIG. 3 is again a longitudinal strapping machine, the construction of which corresponds to that of the device according to FIG. 1 except for the differences described below. Matching components are therefore again provided with the same reference symbols.
  • the longitudinal strapping machine shown in FIG. 3 has on its gallows-shaped supports 14, 15 a longitudinal strut 42, on the center of which a funnel-shaped collecting opening 26 'for the strapping 6 is arranged.
  • the latter is thus located centrally above the machine table 1 in a common vertical plane with the lower guide channel section 13. Due to the offset of the collecting opening 26 'with respect to the transport direction T with respect to the compressed air nozzle arrangement 23, the air gap 17 no longer runs vertically, but at an acute angle W to the machine table 1 in the vertical plane mentioned above.
  • a tape drive device 30 ' connects to the collecting opening 26' as an intermediate drive, which in turn has an electric motor 32 'and a pair of drive rollers 33'.
  • the strapping 6 is injected into a buffer store 43 and from there reaches the compressed air nozzle arrangement 24' directly adjacent to the collecting opening 26 ', by means of which the strapping 6 in turn is at an acute angle W' to the machine table 1 in the mentioned one Vertical plane towards the collecting opening 27 over the inclined Air gap 18 'is shot.
  • the nozzle arrangements 23 and 24 ' are inclined in a manner not shown in detail.
  • the belt guide device 12 'of the embodiment according to FIG. 3 has the lower guide channel section 13 already discussed in the machine table 1 and the two free air gaps 17', 18 'which adjoin upwards at both ends thereof by guiding the strapping so that the loose strapping loop formed when it is shot is essentially in the form of a vertically standing triangle.
  • the belt drive device 30 ' is otherwise provided with an additional roller 44 to which the electric motor 32' can be switched over, so that the intermediate drive formed thereby acts both on the inlet side and on the outlet side.
  • the strapping device according to FIG. 3 is comparable in terms of its function with that according to FIG. 1, so that a further explanation is unnecessary. It should also be noted that the strapping devices according to FIGS. 2 and 3 can also be provided with a roller arrangement 45, as shown in FIG. 1.
