Definitions
- the present invention relates to an umbrella comprising a mast with one end serving as a handle, while the other end constitutes a tip on which are articulated radial breaths, and a sliding slide axial along the mast between an open position in which it abuts against said whales by now in the deployed position and a closed position in which the whales can fold up against the mast.
- This umbrella of the type comprising a slide such that that described in the preamble, includes blocking means disconnectable including a slide conformation arranged to cooperate with a conformation of the whales to ensure, in the deployed position of the umbrella, the times a whale lock in the deployed position and a temporary locking, in axial position, of the slide.
- the purpose of the present invention is to provide a simplified structure umbrella to remedy disadvantages of the simplified umbrella described in WO-A-90/11702.
- the invention relates to an umbrella comprising a mast, one end of which serves as a handle, while the other end constitutes a tip on which are articulated radial ribs, and a sliding slide axial along the mast between an open position in which it abuts against said whales by now in the deployed position and a closed position in which the whales can fold up against the mast, the slide comprising an upper part having a outer surface with declining diameter upwards, each whales comprising a reinforcement part having a substantially straight generator surface oriented to be in a position substantially parallel to the outer surface of the slide in the open position of the umbrella, as defined in claim 1.
- the umbrella according to the invention can advantageously be entirely made of plastic.
- the umbrella shown in Figure 1 has a mast 1 ending at its lower part by a handle 2 and a plurality of whales 3 (for example eight) intended for deployment of the umbrella canvas.
- a slide 4 is mounted along the mast 1 so that it can slide axially along the mast between a closed position in which the whales can be folded up against the mast, and a open position (as shown in Figures 1 and 2) in which it abuts against the whales, so as to keep them in the deployed position.
- the slide 4 has a lower part 41 of tubular shape, with an internal diameter substantially equal to outside diameter of mast 1, surmounted by a second part 42 of frustoconical shape opening upwards, thick substantially equal to that of the lower part and whose smaller diameter is equal to the diameter of the first part.
- the second part is itself surmounted by a third part 43 constituting in its lower zone a flare 44 projecting outwardly from the outer surface of the second part 42 and comprising a upper zone whose outside diameter decreases towards the high, so as to constitute a frustoconical rim 46 intended to cooperate with the whales 3 for their deployment as we will describe later.
- the inner diameter of the third part 43 can be constant over its entire height, as shown in Figure 2, equal to the inside diameter of the upper end of the second part 42.
- the third part 43 can also be performed with a variable internal diameter, the slide having then a substantially constant thickness over its entire height.
- the slide can be made in one piece molded.
- this member 5 comprises at its lower end a tongue 51 secured to the mast 1 of the umbrella and at its upper end a support flange 52 intended to block the slide 4 in the open position of the umbrella.
- this member 5 In order to unlock the slide, it suffices press with your thumb in the direction of arrow F1 on the frontal part 53 of member 5 which then flexes in the tongue area 51.
- Whales can be made in pairs of whales 3, 3 ', each of the whales of a pair being connected by a circular central element 37 via a reduced thickness portion 33 forming a hinge elastic. Each pair of whales can be made in one single piece of molded plastic.
- the upper part 6 in the form of a hat arranged at the end of the mast 1, as well as the fixing of the cap and the central part 37 of each pair of whales on the mast can be realized, as to their principle, in the way described in document WO-A-90/11702.
- the element central 37 has a central hole, intended to come snap onto a cylindrical portion arranged at the upper end of the mast and on which also comes snap on the cap part 6.
- Each of the whales 3 presents in section ( Figures 3 and 4) a T-shape, comprising an upper main part 32 plate and a reinforcing part 31 whose end 35 located on the hinge side 33 of the whale presents preferably a convex shape, intended to cooperate with the slide 4 for the deployment of whales.
- the reinforcement thickens gradually from the top and towards its end, so to increase its rigidity.
- Whale deployment is achieved through cooperation of the frustoconical edge 46 of the upper part of the slide 4 with the end 35 of the reinforcing part of each of the whales.
- the combination of the tapered conformation 46 of the upper part of the slide and the end part 35 reinforcement parts of the whales implies that the more push the slide up, the more the whales get deploy and consequently the more the canvas is stretched.
- the height of the part reinforcement 31 gradually decreases by two thirds of its height along the first third of the length of the whale (counted from the articulated end of the whale) then stays almost constant over the rest of the length of the whale.
- This conformation implying a greater flexibility of the whales at their peripheral ends obligatory bracing or bending of the whale when the canvas, which is fixed on the one hand to the center of the umbrella inside the hat 6 and on the other hand to the peripheral end 34 of each whale, is put in voltage.
- the result is a taut shape almost equal to that of a conventional umbrella, without risk of sagging of the umbrella. Attaching the canvas to the end of the whales can be done for example by welding or gluing.
- the shape of the slide including the inside diameter important of the upper part of the slide in combination with the rounding of the upper edge of the slide allows a easy storage of the ends of the whales and the canvas umbrella inside the slide when the whales have were arranged in the folded position along the mast.
- this member 7 has at its upper end a tongue 71 secured to the mast 1 of the umbrella and part main 72 constituting an upper rim 73 on the part outside of which abuts the lower end of the slide. Thanks to the conformation of the member 7 and to its positioning in the rest state relative to the end slide 4, unlocking the slide is done by a simple pull of the slide down in the direction of arrow F2, which is enough to make it bend the member 7 as shown in dashed lines in FIG. 8.
- a or several holes can be made in the hat.
- the cap 6 can present a lower part 62 of external shape frustoconical with rounded lower edges and part upper 61 of cylindrical shape.
- the upper part 61 can be made as a storage compartment and have an upper closure cap. In that case, the water drainage holes will be made in part upper part of the frustoconical part 62.
- the mast (1) can be made of tubular shape or so as to present an S-shaped section, similar to that proposed in document WO-A-90/11702, and made of extruded or injected plastic.
