Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'un produit de tabac à fumer. Ce procédé qui permet de réaliser un produit de tabac à fumer, d'un genre nouveau, comprend les étapes suivantes: a) production d'une matière mixte comprenant des particules de tabac, de l'amidon ou un produit contenant de l'amidon comme liant et des additifs; b) la matière mixte est comprimée dans une extrudeuse par apport d'énergie thermique et mécanique, puis plastifiée; c) de la vapeur d'eau sous pression est ensuite injectée dans la matière mixte de manière à former des canaux; d) à sa sortie de l'extrudeuse, la matière mixte plastifiée à laquelle les canaux de passage ont conféré une structure poreuse, est expansée et moussée sous l'effet de l'abaissement de la température et de la pression, elle est solidifiée sous forme de jonc continu, cylindrique et poreux, puis est mise aux longueurs voulues.
