Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device vibration dampening of a cable. She finds a particular but not exclusive application in the field civil engineering works whose structure uses such cables, for example suspension or cable-stayed bridges.
  • cables or shrouds are subjected to vibrations due to wind and / or rain or to the circulation of vehicles on deck.
  • the invention relates more precisely to a device comprising a first member surrounding a section of the cable and secured to said section, a second member, connected to an element to which a portion of the cable is fixed, and placed around the first organ, and damping means placed between the first and second organs.
  • a device of this type for absorbing the vibrations of a shroud, is described in the European patent EP 0 343 054A.
  • the two organs define a cavity ring finger filled with a viscous substance providing the desired amortization during relative movements of two organs.
  • An object of the present invention is to provide a damping device for a live cable, responding in a simple and reliable way to sealing problems, and whose development is facilitated.
  • the invention thus provides a device depreciation of the type indicated in the introduction, in which the damping means comprise on the one hand a ring elastic or viscoelastic resting on the first organ and on the second member, on the other hand, a flexible tank containing a viscous substance, this flexible tank being housed in an annular compartment formed between the first and second organs.
  • the flexible tank constitutes a chamber constant volume damping for which the tightness is easily achieved. Cable vibrations are effectively mitigated by the combined effect of the ring elastic or viscoelastic and viscous damping provided by the substance contained in the flexible tank. The dissipation of vibrational energy results from displacements of the viscous substance in the tank flexible, stressed when the cable vibrates in relation to the element to which it is attached.
  • the reservoir flexible consists of a hose wound in the compartment annular. We can thus adapt to different dimensions cable or shroud to be damped, by simply adjusting the hose length.
  • the elastic or viscoelastic ring can consist of two generally semi-cylindrical parts which can be fixed to each other by means of pins substantially parallel to the cable section, assembly bolts or still a tightening belt.
  • each of these parts comprises several metal half-rings embedded in a material elastic or viscoelastic molded, the ends of half-rings protruding from the molded material and being respectively provided with assembly means such as pinout holes.
  • each piece has two outer half-rings of same diameter, located on both sides, a half-ring inner of smaller diameter relative to the direction of the cable section. This is the flexibility of the elastic or viscoelastic material between the half-ring inner and outer half-rings which allows the relative movement of the cable section relative to the second organ, while exerting a return effort towards the normal position.
  • Figure 1 schematically shows where a damping device can be placed according to the invention on the stay cable 6 of a structure 8 such as a bridge wire.
  • the stay cable is anchored at its two ends on respective blocks 10 integral with foundations or appropriate structural elements 12.
  • the device damping is placed near the lower end 14 of the stay cable 6, anchored in the deck 12 of the bridge.
  • a similar structure can be placed near from the upper end of the stay cable 6, anchored in a pylon from the bridge.
  • the end 14 of the guy wire passes through a guide rigid tubular 16 fixed to the anchor block 10.
  • FIGs 2 and 3 illustrate a possible mounting of the inner tube 20 on the shroud 6 in the case where the latter consists of strands gathered in a section bundle hexagonal.
  • the tube 20 consists of two semi-cylindrical portions 20a, 20b each belonging to a shell respective.
  • Each of the shells has three plates 34 which are applied against sides of the section hexagonal shroud, with interposition of a strip of glue 36.
  • Longitudinal shims 38 are welded between the semi-cylindrical portion 20a and the plates 34, in the center of these last.
  • the plates 34 have two axial ends protruding from the tube 20. At these ends, both shells have edges side 40 allowing their assembly by means of screws 42. Tightening the screws 42 makes it possible to block the tube 20 on the stay section 6.
  • the outer tube 22 is presented as a box cylindrical which, in service, is fixed to the tubular guide 16 anchored to the foundation.
  • the outer tube 22 presents towards the lower end of the shroud a flange 46 bolted on a complementary flange 48 provided at the outlet of the guide tubular 16.
  • the elastic ring 24 is made up of two shaped halves general semi-cylindrical assembled after their implementation place on the inner tube 20.
  • Such a half of a ring 50 is shown on the figure 4. It consists of three metal half-rings 52, 54, 56 embedded by molding in an elastomeric material 58, namely two outer half-rings of the same diameter 52, 54 and an inner half-ring of smaller diameter 56.
  • the elastomeric material 58 has a cross section generally V-shaped, the inner half-ring 56 being located at the base of this V, and the two half-rings 52, 54 being located at the ends of the branches of this V.
  • the groove 32 is thus defined between the two branches of the V made of elastomeric material capable of compress under the effect of transverse vibrations of the guy 6.
  • the metal half-rings 52, 54, 56 each have, over the majority of their perimeter, a section rectangular in shape.
  • the half-rings 52, 54, 56 each have their two ends 62, 64, 66 which protrude from the material molded elastomer 58.
  • One end 62, 64, 66 of each half ring 52, 54, 56 is in the form of a yoke provided with a pinout hole 72, 74, 76, while the other end 63, 65, 67 has a shape complementary to the screed and is provided with a corresponding pin hole 73, 75, 77.
  • the pinholes 72-77 allow the assembly of two ring halves 50 using three pairs of pins 82, 84, 86 extending parallel to the direction of the shroud section 6 (see the lower part of the figure 2).
  • Half a ring 50 is easily manufactured in injecting the elastomeric material 58 into a form mold appropriate in which we have previously placed the three half-rings 52, 54, 56, then by vulcanizing the elastomeric material.
  • the stiffness of the elastic ring 24 can be adjusted according to the dynamic properties sought in playing on the elasticity parameters and the thicknesses of the elastic or viscoelastic molded material.
  • the flexible hose 26 is helically wound in compartment 30 delimited on the one hand by the groove 32 of the ring 24, and on the other hand by the inner face of the outer tube 22.
  • the hose 26 has a of its closed ends, and its other end which communicates with the outside of compartment 30 by through a bore 90 formed in a spindle 84 of one of the pairs of half-rings outer 54 of the elastic ring 24.
  • This end 92 hose 26 is thus accessible to fill the latter with viscous damping substance.
  • This substance 28 is typically an oil or other viscous fluid, or a viscous gel whose viscosity is optimized as a function characteristics of the shroud to be amortized.
  • the installation of the damping device described above takes place for example as follows.
  • the guy wires 6 are installed and anchored at their two ends, passing them through the tubular guide 16 and the outer tube 22.
  • the tube 22 is then moved away from the guide 16 to give access to the section of the shroud receiving the device.
  • the inner tube 20 is put in place and blocked on the stay section by assembling its two shells and by tightening the screws 42.
  • the two halves of the ring 24 are then placed around the inner tube 20, then paperbacks.
  • the outer tube 22 is engaged around together, we fill the hose 26 with the oil 28, and we fixes the outer tube 22 on the flange 48 of the guide tubular 16.
  • the strand 6 has an envelope external protector, it can be fixed on the end of the outer tube 22 opposite the guide 16.
  • Figure 5 shows an alternative embodiment of the invention, in which the ring 24 and the compartment annular where the flexible tank is housed are juxtaposed the along the direction of the shroud section 6.
  • the tube interior is divided into two juxtaposed sections 100,101 attached to the shroud as described with reference to the Figure 3.
  • One of these sections 100 receives the ring 24 which has the same structure and the same mounting method as previously ( Figure 4), except that the groove 32 is not used to contain the viscous substance tank.
  • the other section 101 of the inner tube is provided with two transverse flanges 103,104 at its two ends axial.
  • the annular compartment 105 receiving the flexible tank 106 of viscous material 28, is internally delimited by the section 101 of the tube inside, and axially by the two flanges 103,104. Towards the outside, this compartment 105 is delimited by a ring 107 acting like a piston.
  • This ring 107 is presented in the form of two half-rings assembled around the shroud during the installation of the device. Outwards, the half-rings have radial protrusions 108 by which they bear against the outer tube 22.
  • the flexible tank 106 consists of a pocket occupying the axial length of annular compartment 105 and enveloping the perimeter of the tube section 101.
  • This pocket 106 is filled with viscous substance 28 after installation of the assembly by conduits 109 passing through the ring 107 and its outgrowths 108 as shown in FIG. 5.
  • the vibrations of the shroud make the piston ring 107 moves radially relative to the tube section 101 and to the flanges 103,104 so that the substance contained in pocket 106 moves into a chamber constant volume and provides the desired amortization.
  • a device according to the invention can be used to absorb the vibrations of a cable other than a stay cable, for example a load-bearing cable or a suspension from a suspension bridge or an undersea cable ...
  • the portion of the cable attached to a foundation or the like is not necessarily one of its extremities.
  • the element to which is fixed this portion can be a foundation or any element of structure, including a network of cables.
