- a soft shoe binding has a calf support (so-called Highback "), which is supported at least on a load on the calf-side longitudinal edge of the snowboard on a calf area of the shoe upper and thus gives the driver support and simplifies the introduction of force due to the then more favorable leverage.
- a calf support is usually located on a so-called, below
- shoe-binding combinations in which the calf support is attached to the shoe and is supported, for example, on said heel strap when the shoe is inserted into the binding.
- the holding means of a soft shoe binding generally have holding straps or holding brackets which overlap the shoe. These retaining straps or retaining brackets preferably overlap the shoe from the front and from above, ie essentially in the instep area of the shoe.
- the binding equipped with such holding means requires a type of abutment on which the shoe can be supported at the back or against which the shoe can be braced using the holding brackets or holding straps.
- Such an abutment is usually formed by the above-mentioned heel strap, which engages around the heel area of the shoe and usually as Heelloop "is called.
- a heel strap gives the shoe inserted in the binding also a support to facilitate a heel-side Edge insert.
- step-in principle a binding principle in which the holding means engage automatically when entering the binding and the shoe in this way without further manipulation secure in the binding.
