Definitions

  • the present invention relates to packaging of compact discs and the like into relative envelopes.
  • Compact discs can be packaged not only in the traditional cases formed by two shells made of a plastic material, but also inserted into envelopes of different shape made from sheet material like paper or cardboard.
  • these envelopes are obtained from a sheet of cardboard folded along a median line, so as to form two surfaces facing each other, that are joined along two sides adjacent to the fold side by gluing of respective flaps.
  • the side of the envelopes opposite to the fold side is open.

  • These closing strips may have different shapes and dimensions; in particular, they may extend on an area equal to the envelopes surfaces.
  • one of the envelope surfaces has an aperture, generally circular, covered with a sheet of a transparent material, so that a corresponding face of the compact disc contained in the envelope can be seen from outside.
  • the compact discs are usually accompanied by respective cover sheets, sometimes book-like made, containing information about the disc contents and the like.
  • Packaging of the compact discs inside the envelopes of different shape is difficult because of little versatility of the packaging lines.
