Definitions
- the invention relates to the field of sliding sports and more specifically that snowboarding or snowboarding. It relates more particularly to an element interface set up between the sole of the shoe and the binding (or the board to fill the empty space between the soleplate and the binding or board. Such interface elements are commonly called in the field of snowboard by the English expression of "gas pedal”.
- the invention is described in the application to snowboard, but it could be transposed to any type of board gliding such as alpine skiing, cross-country skiing or other.
- the invention relates more precisely to this family of flexible shoes and suitable fasteners.
- Such shoes are indeed used for their quality of comfort allowing the user to walk without discomfort when he has taken off his board.
- the soft shoes have a sole that has a slight curvature such that the front and rear ends are slightly raised.
- This material-free volume therefore does not allow the user to transmit forces at the front and / or rear ends of the foot, which also knows that they constitute one of the main areas of transmission of supports.
- One of the problems which the invention proposes to solve is therefore that of optimizing the contact between the wedge interface element and the sole of the shoe, to obtain the best possible transmission of forces.
- the invention therefore proposes to provide an interface element intended to be interposed between the sole of the shoe and the binding or the upper face of the board, which provides optimal support whatever the size of the shoe and its geometry.
- the invention therefore relates to an interface element used on a board of slides, said element being interposed between the sole of the user's shoe and the upper face of the board, so as to allow the transmission of supports exerted towards the board by the user at least at the front end of the sole.
- the element according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises at least an area made of a thermoformable material capable of marrying after exposure heat, the imprint of at least the front end of the sole of the shoe, so as to fill the volume between the upper face of the board and the shoe sole.
- the characteristic element is made of a material which can adopt the exact shape of the bottom of the sole of the shoe, which ensures a locking in extremely precise position of the shoe relative to the binding.
- thermoformable zone ensures almost perfect immobilization of the shoe relative to the binding, whatever the geometry of the sole.
- thermoformable material used is compressed and therefore stiffened when molding time by the sole, which increases the transmission capacity supports, in particular with respect to the devices of the prior art produced in elastomeric materials.
- the interface element according to the invention can be implemented either directly above the mounting base, or directly above the upper face of the board when the architecture of the binding does not include as in the bindings of the type known as "baseless".
- the interface element can also be placed directly on the face top of the board and pass through the base of the binding in openings carried out for this purpose in the latter.
- the interface element according to the invention may be present either at the level of the front end of the shoe, either at the rear end of this last, still at these two ends. It can still form a single element covering the entire surface of the sole of the shoe extending from end to end of the latter.
- the interface element comprises, at the level of front and / or rear ends, and below the material area thermoformable, an additional zone of rigid material, so that ensure good transmission of the supports exerted towards the board.
- the rigidity of the interface element is relatively important, and combines the rigidity of the thermoformable zone proper with that of the underlying zone.
- the interface element extends under the entire length of the shoe, it may be advantageous for it to have, at least at the heel, and below or in place of the thermoformable material zone, a zone in flexible material, so as to dampen vibrations in origin of the board, and to absorb shocks especially when receiving jumps.
- the interface element has at its rear level a zone relatively compressible which absorbs part of the energy of vibrations transmitted by the board, at the level of the sole where the transmission of support is not preponderant.
- the interface element according to the invention can be covered with an impermeable protective layer, for example made of a fabric coated with polytetrafluoroethylene.
- an impermeable protective layer prevents snow, water and ice to come inside the alveoli of the foam the thermoformable element.
- Such a protective layer can also receive a decor.
- the invention relates to an interface element intended to be put in place between the sole of the shoe and the binding or the upper face of the board, so as to compensate for the curvature of the sole of the shoe.
- the characteristic element (10) can be set place on the base (2) of the fixing (1).
- this base (2) comprises a rear arch (3) passing behind the foot, and receiving an articulated gutter (4) intended to serve back support to the upper of the shoe.
- the invention is not limited to this single architecture of binding, and can in particular be used in so-called “baseless” bindings which do not have no base itself, but only two side members side, the interface element then resting directly on the upper face of the board (8).
- the invention is not limited to the embodiment illustrated in Figure 1, wherein the interface element (10) extends over the entire base surface (2), but it also covers variants in which the interface element is present only at the front end and / or at the rear end.
- the characteristic element (10) shown as non-limiting example extends over the entire length of the sole (20).
- this sole (20) belongs to a flexible shoe which is especially used for its qualities of comfort when walking.
- This sole presents, illustrated in an exaggerated way, a certain curvature, which allows a place of the foot when walking.
- This curvature makes the tip (21) of the shoe and the rear end (22) of the heel are slightly raised from the lowest level (23) of the shoe located substantially on either side of the arch of the foot. This height difference is about a centimeter.
- the interface element (10) has a part (11, 12) intended to fill the space between the front (21) and / or rear ends (22) of the sole (20), and the base (2) of the fixing.
- these parts (11, 12) of the element interface (10) are essentially made of a thermoformable material, suitable to deform under the action of heat.
- the user can give the upper face (13) of the interface element (10) a shape complementary to that of its sole (20), which increases the contact surface between the sole and the interface element (see Figures 2 and 3).
- thermoformable material of the characteristic element (11) deforms to be inserted at least partly between the different reliefs (24) and constitute zones very effective hooking (14).
- thermoformable material follows the particular curve of the sole (20) so as to ensure contact as effective as possible.
- thermoformable material In practice, it suffices for the user to expose the thermoformable material to a heat source, such as a heat gun, or an oven for temporarily give the material a deformation capacity, then apply the sole of the shoe on the interface element by positioning it in the fastening as illustrated in figure 1. By fitting the latter, and tightening it normally, then allowing to cool so that the element adopts, in its areas thermoformable, the footprint of the sole as illustrated in Figure 2.
- a heat source such as a heat gun, or an oven for temporarily give the material a deformation capacity
- the element is equipped with a resistance electric embedded in the material or trapped under the thermoformable zones, so as to be heated by an electric current.
- thermoforming Multiple materials can be used to perform this function of thermoforming, from the moment their softening temperature is sufficiently low. Mention may be made, for example, of ethylene vinyl acetate foam with closed cells of the ULTRALON® type from the company ULTRALON PRODUCT.
- the interface element (10) may comprise thermoformable regions below (11, 12), zones (16, 17) made of a relatively rigid plastic material intended to ensure the transmission of the supports exerted by the end of the foot in direction of the board.
- Such a plastic material can for example be a foam of polyurethane, or even a solid material such as acrylonitrilbutadiene styrene.
- the part of the interface element (10) located directly above the ends (21) front and / or rear (22) has sufficient rigidity so that the supports are effectively transmitted.
- the intermediate region (18) of the interface element located between the front and rear ends, directly above the central part (23) or arch of the shoe, present, below the thermoformable part (15), an area made of a relatively more flexible material, made of a material shock absorbing plastic.
- Such a zone (15) can be made of ethylene vinyl acetate low density or any other cellular material.
- the area (15, 18) of the interface element (10) located below the arch of the foot has a certain elasticity which makes it possible to absorb part of the vibrations transmitted by the board. User comfort is thus improved.
- a damping zone can extend relatively moved backwards, for example under the heel.
- the need for a effective transmission of support at the heel level is less important than the similar transmission at the tip of the shoe, since the rear gutter (4) of the binding provides most of the transmission supports backwards.
- Such a zone will preferably be produced in one shock absorbing, viscoelastic material, of the PODIANE® or SORBOTANE® type.
- the interface element can be wrapped in a fabric advantageously covered with polytetrafluoroethylene intended to seal the assembly.
- This fabric can advantageously receive a decoration.
- the interface element can adopt multiple architectures for its cooperation with the binding and the gliding board.
- the element (30) interfaces has a lower part (32) which rests on the board.
- Element (30) receives the base (31) of the fixing, in housings provided for this purpose, so that the thermoformable zones (33, 34, 35) of this element pass through recesses (37) provided between the parts of the base.
- the characteristic element may have holes (38) intended to receive the fixing screws (39) of the base (31) on the board proper.
- the interface element (10) can be either glued to the base, with an appropriate adhesive material, or have a shape such that it fits inside the base without requiring the use of material adhesive.
- the interface element according to the invention has multiple advantages, in particular that of optimizing the transmission of supports the front and rear areas of the shoe by eliminating any play between the shoe and the base of the binding.
- the use of thermoformable material ensures as large a contact surface between the sole and the characteristic element, which prevents any slipping or any play detrimental to the transmission of support.
