Definitions

  • the invention relates to a closure cap with the features of the preamble of the independent claims.
  • closures made of plastic are known in a large number and are also used for closing, among other things, containers with carbonated drinks.
  • Such a closure is known, for example, from EP 55 916.
  • the sealing disc is pressed against the upper outer edge of the mouth of the container by a projection in the area between the cap base and the cap apron. In this way, a pressure with high surface pressure and thus a good sealing effect is achieved.
  • EP 370 272 From EP 370 272 it is known, for example, to partially close the circumferential rib for pressing on the sealing washer interrupt.
  • the sealing disc can deflect in the area of the interruptions in the event of overpressure and thus allow the pressure in the container to be reduced.
  • the construction according to EP 370 272 has the disadvantage, however, that the sealing washer is not pressed against the outer edge at all in the areas of the interruption. This can lead to leakage even if there is no increased pressure in the container.
  • a closure cap is also known, in which the bead which is intended to press the sealing disk against the container neck is not arranged as a thickening in the transition area between the cap base and the cap apron, but rather as an axially downward direction protruding, circumferential rib.
  • the problem with this construction is that the pressure is not very strong due to the gap between the rib and the inside of the cap apron.
  • the closure cap for a container has a cap base and a cap apron.
  • the cap apron is provided with inner restraining means, which with outer restraining holding means can be brought into engagement at the mouth of a container.
  • the cap can, for example, have a screw thread, but also a snap or bayonet thread.
  • the cap can be used advantageously with drinks containing C0 2 or with hot filled drinks.
  • the cap also has a sealing washer, which at least partially rests on the cap base.
  • a non-continuous sealing insert for example a sealing ring, is of course also conceivable.
  • the closure cap also has a circumferential bead in the transition area between the cap base and the cap apron for pressing the sealing washer onto the upper, outer edge of the mouth of the container.
  • the sealing cap is at least partially provided with a circumferential undercut between the bead and the apron. The undercut can extend evenly over 360 degrees over the circumference of the closure cap.
  • undercut only in segments.
  • the bead is also provided with a weakening in at least one segment-shaped section.
  • the combination of a circumferential bead with an undercut and a weakening in segment-like sections leads to a particularly good sealing effect, which nevertheless allows an excess pressure to be released.
  • the sealing washer is pressed evenly onto the container mouth.
  • the undercut gives the lower edge of the bead a certain flexibility, so that the bead can be bent outwards when pressure is applied.
  • the pressure at which the internal pressure is blown off can be precisely predetermined.
  • the weaknesses in the bead confer the bead has greater radial flexibility in the predetermined sections. In these sections, the sealing washer can be pressed outwards with increased internal pressure. A blow off is possible.
  • the undercut preferably extends from the lower edge of the bead into an area which is at a distance from the cap base. This means that the bead is continuous in the transition area between the cap base and the cap wall.
  • the weakening of the bead is formed by depressions on the outside of the bead, which faces the cap apron. This creates segment-like weakenings without creating an irregular contact surface.
  • the contact surface which presses the sealing washer against the outer upper edge of the container mouth, thus extends over 360 degrees and is essentially flat, i.e. it has no depressions or elevations.
  • the depressions on the outside of the bead nevertheless give the bead increased radial flexibility in predeterminable areas.
  • the bead can be weakened by a different choice of material, a different orientation of the material or by a different density of the material.
  • the weakening of the bead is formed by depressions which extend axially from the lower end of the bead against the cap base and which preferably extend over the entire thickness of the bead. Because the depressions do not extend to the upper end of the bead but only towards the cap base, the disadvantages of a bead with continuous breaks according to the prior art are avoided.
  • the weakening advantageously extends approximately over the height of the undercut.
  • the bead is flexible in the area between the lower end of the bead and the end of the undercut. The weakening is particularly effective in this area.
  • the sections which have weakenings of the bead preferably comprise an angular range of 90 ° to 220 ° overall (i.e. the sum of all sections together). About 3 to 15 sections with weakenings are preferably provided.
  • the inside of the cap base can also be provided with at least one radial recess, which extends radially at least over a sealing section of the cap base.
  • the sealing section defines the zone of the cap base which presses the sealing disk against the container mouth. Due to the recess in the cap base, the sealing washer can be displaced axially upwards and thus form a way to relieve excess pressure.
  • the radial recess is aligned in a radial seal with a weakening of the bead.
  • the inside of the cap base is provided with a circumferential rib which is concentric with the closure cap.
  • the circumferential rib serves to increase the contact pressure of the sealing washer.
  • Radial ribs can also be provided on the cap base.
  • the radial ribs are preferably higher than the circumferential rib.
  • the radial depressions are dispensed with. It has been found that the provision of such radial ribs is particularly advantageous for hot fillings, for example for fruit juices. Due to the heat, the sealing washer becomes softer and there is usually a risk of that the sealing washer is pulled radially inwards. This is avoided with the radial ribs and with the circumferential rib.
  • FIG. 1 shows a cross section through a closure cap according to the invention
  • FIG. 2 shows a schematic perspective illustration of a section of a closure cap according to the invention
  • FIGS. 4a and 4b show two exemplary embodiments of the weakening of the bead
  • Figure 5 shows a cap ge ass Figure 4a on a container with increased internal pressure.
  • FIG. 1 shows a closure cap 1 according to the invention in cross section.
  • the closure cap 1 essentially consists of a cap base 2 and a cap apron 3 which meet in a transition region 7.
  • the closure cap is provided with an inserted sealing washer 5 which bears against the inside of the cap base 2.
  • the sealing disk serves to seal a container mouth of a container 20, shown schematically.
  • a bead 6 is provided, which presses the sealing disk 5 against the upper edge 22 of the container 20.
  • An undercut 8 is provided between the bead 6 and the inside of the cap apron 3, which gives the lower end 14 (see FIGS. 3 and 4) increased radial flexibility.
  • the bead 6 is provided with weakenings 10 in the area of the undercut 8. The weakenings 10 give the bead 6 an additional increased radial flexibility in selected sections 9 (see FIGS. 2 to 4).
  • the sealing disk 5 is pressed in a sealing area 17 from the cap base 2 to the container mouth. As soon as an increased internal pressure arises in the interior of the container, the cap base 2 is pressed upwards, as a result of which the sealing disk in the sealing section 17 is relieved of pressure. Due to the weakening 10 in the bead 6, the sealing disk 5 can be pressed radially outwards in the region of the sections 9 with weakening and the increased internal pressure is reduced.
  • closure cap can also be provided with further design details known for closure caps.
  • a guarantee tape 19 is shown, which should indicate unauthorized opening of the closure.
  • the closure cap is provided with ventilation cutouts 18, which promote gas release.
  • FIG 2 a section of the closure cap 1 according to the invention without a sealing washer is shown in perspective.
  • the segmental sections 9 can be seen, in which the bead 6 is provided with weaknesses 10.
  • the weakenings 10 are designed as depressions 12 which are arranged on the outside 13 of the bead 6.
  • the inside 15 of the cap base 2 is also provided with radial ribs 16.
  • the radial ribs 16 extend at least over the sealing section 17, in which a sealing disk 5 (see FIG. 1) can be pressed against a container mouth.
  • the cap base 2 is also provided with a circumferential rib 23 which increases the pressure of the sealing washer 5 in the area outside the radial recesses 16.
  • the height h : of the radial ribs 16 is greater than the height h 2 of the circumferential rib 23.
  • FIG. 3 shows a closure cap according to the invention without a sealing washer from below.
  • the circumferential bead 6 has a continuous inside. On the outside 13 of the bead 6, which is directed against the cap apron 3, the bead 6 is provided with depressions 12. The depressions 12 lead to weakening of the bead 6 in segment-like sections 9. The depressions 12 are distributed uniformly over the entire circumference of the closure cap. They each extend over an angular range of approximately 5 ° to 40 °.
  • radial ribs 16 are shown in the cap base 2, which end between the recesses 12.
  • On the inside of the cap base 2 there is also shown a circumferential rib 23 which presses the sealing disk 5 (not shown) against the container mouth in the sealing section 17.
  • the undercut 8 between the cap apron 3 and the bead 6 gives the bead 6 in combination with the depressions 12 increased flexibility in the direction of the arrow r.
  • FIGS. 4a and 4b show various exemplary embodiments for forming the weakenings 10 of the bead 6.
  • the bead 6 is provided with a recess 12 only on the outside 13, which is directed against the cap apron 2.
  • the recess 12 extends axially from the lower end 14 towards the cap base 2.
  • the undercut 8 has a height h.
  • the end of the rear Cut 8 is at a distance from the inside 15 of the cap base 2. This means that the bead 6 in the transition region 7 between the cap apron 2 and the cap base 3 between the cap base and cap apron is continuous.
  • the sealing disk 5 is pressed by the bead 6 against a mouth 20 of a container 20, which is only shown schematically.
  • FIG. 4b An alternative exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in FIG. 4b.
  • the depression 12 ', which forms the weakening 10 in the bead 6, is continuous in the radial direction. Otherwise, the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4b corresponds to the example from FIG. 4a.
  • FIG 5 the embodiment shown in Figure 4a is shown on a container with increased internal pressure. Due to the increased internal pressure in the container 20, the cap base 2 is curved axially outwards (so-called doming). As a result, the sealing disk 5 is relieved of pressure in the sealing section 17, so that gas can escape. Due to the weakening 10 of the bead 6, the bead and thus the sealing disk 5 can be pressed radially outward in the direction of the arrow r, as a result of which gas can also escape in this area. The position of the bead in normal position is shown in dashed lines. The bulge 6 assumes this original position in the peripheral sections outside the sections 9 with weakenings 10. The venting is therefore only in segments and can therefore be precisely controlled. In the remaining sections, the pressure on the sealing disk 5 is still so great that a seal is ensured.
