Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a method for determining the HIFI position of an audio system, in particular a car radio, with at least two loudspeakers, the volume and / or transit time of the individual loudspeaker signals being measured and the volume and / or phase of the loudspeaker signals emitted as a function of the result the measurement can be changed.
  • the invention further relates to a device for performing this method.
  • a method of the type mentioned at the outset is known from the prior art of car radios (for example car radio Blau Vietnamese fries RCM 127, company Bosch, Germany).
  • a supplied microphone is attached to the headlining with the opening facing downwards. This can be done in particular for a first position above the driver and for a second position above the front passenger seat.
  • the calibration process is then started by pressing a button.
  • the loudspeakers of the car radio send test signals separately and at different frequencies, which are recorded by the microphone.
  • a 9-way equalizer is then adapted for each of the four speaker positions.
  • This so-called DSA system uses a digital signal processor to determine the acoustic frequency response in the vehicle interior via the measuring microphone and to control the equalizer.
  • the equalizer is a tone control device, with which the volume of several frequency bands of the entire audio frequency range can be controlled separately for equalization, correction or other influencing of the sound image.
  • a calm environment must be available for the measurements. External noise falsifies the measurement. There should therefore be no occupants in the vehicle and objects must not interfere with the emission of the volume.
  • the measuring process is therefore relatively cumbersome and requires a complex procedure to be carried out by the user.
  • a new definition or change in the HIFI position requires a new, equally complex measurement process every time.
  • the provision of a separate microphone with appropriate cabling and the plug connections on the car radio causes a correspondingly high cost.
  • the object of the present invention was to improve a method of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it can be carried out in a simplified manner, offers more sound options and allows greater freedom of position for the setting of the HIFI positions. Furthermore, an inexpensive to manufacture device for carrying out the method should be developed.
  • the volumes and / or the transit times of the individual loudspeaker signals are measured and the volumes and / or phases of the emitted loudspeaker signals are changed depending on the result of this measurement.
  • the method is characterized in that the measurement takes place at a reference position and from this the changes in the loudspeaker signals necessary to shift the HIFI position are calculated.
  • a microphone does not have to be attached to this position to determine the desired HIFI position, so that the loudspeaker signals can be measured and changed for this position. Rather, the measurement is carried out at a more or less freely selectable reference position, a single measurement generally being sufficient for any number of subsequent changes in the HIFI position.
  • the definition of a new HIFI position is considerably simplified, since no own measurement with a microphone at the desired position is necessary for this, but because the required parameters can be determined by calculations from the one-time measurement at the reference position. However, such calculations can be automated and therefore do not burden the user of the audio system.
  • the method preferably measures and changes the loudspeaker signals separately in different frequency ranges. Taking into account the frequency dependency of the acoustics allows a significant improvement in the achievable sound quality.
  • Claim 3 shows a further development of the method, which allows a particularly simple determination of the necessary changes in the loudspeaker signals for a desired HIFI position.
  • the reference positions on measured volumes of a first loudspeaker or a second loudspeaker, gain correction factors ⁇ or f 2 for said first loudspeaker or second loudspeaker are determined in such a way that application of these amplification factors to the respective loudspeaker leads to the signals of these loudspeakers then at the reference position achieve the same volume or a desired delay time difference (especially zero).
  • the application of these gain correction factors makes the reference position the optimal HIFI position.
  • the factors can also be multidimensional (vectors) to allow different amplifications for different frequency bands.
  • the HIFI position in space can now be shifted by specifying a single (scalar) parameter ⁇ , the gain factor for a given ⁇ being the first loudspeaker
  • the described method has the effect that the HIFI position can be shifted along an axis parallel to the connecting line of the two loudspeakers with the aid of the parameter ⁇ . If doing so the reference position at the level of one of the loudspeakers, the parameter ⁇ will move primarily in the range between 0 and 1, whereby the HIFI position is accordingly shifted between the two loudspeakers.
  • a control method is particularly advantageous for shifting the HIFI position in the direction of the vehicle axis (from front to back and back). This applies in particular if the reference position is at the height of the front loudspeaker, which is usually the case when the reference position is integrated into the car radio.
  • the invention further comprises a device according to claim 4 for carrying out the above-described method, which contains a microphone integrated in the audio system for measuring the loudspeaker signals at the reference position, and an adjusting device for changing the emitted loudspeaker signals. Due to the fixed installation of the microphone for measuring the audio system, there is no need for a separate microphone with complex cabling and with suitable plug-in systems compared to the known systems. This reduces the manufacturing costs of the audio system or car radio. Furthermore, with such a device, the advantages which can be achieved with the above-described method can be realized, that is to say in particular a simpler and more flexible determination of the HIFI position.
  • the adjusting device of the device preferably contains an equalizer for each of the connected loudspeakers.
  • the device contains at least one input device for specifying the desired HIFI position by the user.
  • Such an input device can be, in particular, an adjustment button or adjustment slide or act like that.
  • two such input devices are provided, which shift the HIFI position in mutually orthogonal spatial directions.
  • a third device can be provided which shifts the HIFI position in a third spatial direction orthogonal to the first two spatial directions.
  • the spatial directions that are perpendicular to one another are primarily parallel or perpendicular to the vehicle axis. This means that the right / left position of the HIFI position can be set using one controller and the front / rear position can be specified using another controller (fading, balance).
  • the figure shows schematically the conditions in a car which contains a car radio 10 and four loudspeakers RF, RR, LR, LF arranged approximately at the corners of a rectangle.
  • Car radio is generally to be understood as an audio system used in a car, which in particular can contain a cassette recorder and / or a CD player.
  • the sound waves emanating from the loudspeakers (indicated by arrows) reach different points in the room at different times and with different volumes, since they have to travel differently long and differently shaped paths to these points.
  • the optimal HIFI position is the position in the room where all loudspeaker signals arrive at the "right" time and at the "right” volume, which correspond to the conditions in the real sound recording. It is therefore endeavored to change the amplification of the individual Speaker and, if necessary, by changing their phase (time correction) to move the HIFI position to the location of the room where the listener (e.g. driver or passenger) is sitting.
  • a microphone is brought to the desired HIFI position for this purpose and the parameters of the loudspeaker signals are then corrected until the HIFI position comes to rest on the location of the microphone.
