Abstract

Ein Trockner (1) für Gegenstände, insbesondere für Fahrzeugkarosserien, weist in an und für sich bekannter Weise ein Gehäuse (2) auf, in dem ein die Gegenstände aufnehmender Trockenraum (3) ausgebildet ist. Dort werden die Gegenstände mit einer IR-Strahlung beaufschlagt, die von mindestens einem Katalytstrahler (5) erzeugt wird. Der Trockner (1) lässt sich dadurch als Einrichtung zur Reinigung schadstoffhaltiger Luft verwenden, daß die dem Trockenraum (3) zugeführte Zuluft ausschließlich über die katalytisch aktive Schicht (13) des Katalytstrahlers (5) geführt wird, so daß dort die in der Zuluft enthaltenen organischen Verunreinigungen kontrolliert katalytisch oxidiert werden können. Der Katalytstrahler (5) muß in diesem Falle in dem Sinne hitzebeständig ausgebildet sein, daß er keiner Luftkühlung bedarf. In dem Trockner (1) kann sowohl verunreinigte Luft, die an anderer Stelle angefallen ist, als auch die im Trockner (1) selbst erzeugte, organische Verunreinigungen enthaltende Luft gereinigt werden.
