Abstract
L'invention porte sur un joint intumescent qui peut être inséré dans des bases d'ossatures ou cadres d'éléments de fixation, de type pare-feu, et comprenant au moins une gaine (G) principalement tubulaire de façon à former à l'intérieur de celle-ci une chambre C ; un mélange intumescent (M) capable de se dilater sous l'effet de la chaleur et pouvant être inséré dans la chambre (C). Le joint intumescent se caractérise en que le mélange intumescent (M) comprend une solution aqueuse d'un polysilicate de métal alcalin et de silice colloïdale dispersée dans l'eau et ayant un rapport molaire, SiO2/Me2O, compris entre 3 et 6, de préférence proche de 4,5, et une teneur en eau comprise entre 40 % et 65 % en poids, de préférence proche de 60 % en poids. La gaine (G) est conçue dans un matériau de base relativement rigide ou à déformation plastique, ce matériau étant un plastique ou un métal ou une combinaison des deux ou un matériau intumescent thermoplastique extrudé.
