Definitions
- the invention relates to an internal combustion engine for a Motor vehicle with a combustion chamber, the an inlet channel to Supply of fuel gas, an outlet channel for the removal of Combustion products and a fuel supply unit associated with the supply of liquid fuel.
- the object of the invention is to provide an internal combustion engine for a Motor vehicle with reduced hydrocarbon emissions, in particular the lowest possible cold start emissions provide.
- the internal combustion engine according to the invention is characterized from that the exhaust duct in an exhaust manifold from a thin-walled metal sheet with a roughened inner surface for the adsorption of unburned or partially burned Fuel is arranged.
- Such exhaust manifold is in capable of caching by adsorption unburned or partially burned fuel to realize.
- liquid or gaseous fuel adsorbed mainly in the first seconds of high and high Warming an internal combustion engine unburned or partially burned out of the combustion chamber is ejected.
- the Fuel is attached to the exhaust manifold.
- the exhaust manifold is made at least two separate, not reshaped part shells constructed, the inner surfaces by non-cutting machining roughened are. This is a particularly easy to produce, single-walled exhaust manifold with the invention Properties proposed. It can also be double-walled Versions be provided.
- the inner surface the exhaust manifold at least partially by sand or Roughened shot peening.
- the inner surface the exhaust manifold at least partially by high temperature coating roughened with a metal powder.
- material order can be finely divided and with continuous Transitions a changing surface roughness on the Inner surface of the exhaust manifold can be achieved.
- the inner surface the exhaust manifold at least partially by chemical etching roughened.
- the inner surface the exhaust manifold at least partially by non-cutting forming with a regular and / or irregularly structured Unevenness, in particular with knobs and / or grooves provided is.
- Such macroscopic surface structures can be also to the flow line in the exhaust manifold use. Further let can combine surface treatments almost arbitrarily.
- An internal combustion engine according to the invention for a motor vehicle has a cylinder head, which together with a movable Piston for limiting a preferably cylindrical Combustion chamber in an engine block of the internal combustion engine is used.
- a fuel supply unit for supplying liquid fuel into the Combustion chamber provided; this is preferably a Inlet or direct injection system with appropriate Nozzles or injectors and at least one conveyor unit (Fuel pump).
- fuel are preferably at Environmental conditions liquid hydrocarbons, e.g. petrol or diesel fuel used.
- the outlet channel is at least partially in a so-called Exhaust manifold led, in which several outlet channels of several be combined in parallel cylinder.
- the exhaust manifold is preferably made of a thin-walled made of pressed high-alloy steel sheet, wherein the Exhaust manifold composed of several separate partial shells is screwed, welded, soldered or screwed together are otherwise connected.
- the exhaust manifold can both be designed as single-walled as well as double-walled.
- the internal surface of the exhaust manifold, with the Exhaust gas flow is in direct contact, is with a provided increased roughness. These can be macroscopic as well as microscopic and submicroscopic asperities be provided.
- Exhaust manifold are its inner surface over a corresponding structuring of the production press tool Depressions or elevations (in particular grooves, nubs, Crater or similar).
- Exhaust manifold is the inner surface by means of a Sandoder Roughened shot peening process.
- a modified Embodiment come any other particles in the Surface treatment used.
- Exhaust manifold is the inner surface by means of a grinding or Sanding roughened.
- Exhaust manifold is the inner surface by means of a chemical etching process microscopically and / or submicroscopically roughened.
- Exhaust manifold is the inner surface by means of a High-temperature metal spraying process coated such that a macroscopically and / or microscopically uneven and rough surface texture results.
- catalytically active metals especially nickel, silver, gold, platinum, palladium, etc.
- Coating materials preferably in powder form
- Variants for structuring an exhaust manifold according to the invention can be combined with each other as desired. Especially are macroscopic with microscopic surface structuring combined. surface structures also leave on certain areas of the inner surface of the Restrict exhaust manifold and also to the flow line use.
- the exhaust manifold according to the invention is characterized by a low weight, low heat capacity and a certain - on the nature and quality of the surface structure dependent - Adsorption potential for unburned or partially burned Fuel.
- the proposed measures can be partially or unburned from a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine ejected fuel components directly in or on Bind exhaust manifold, recondense and / or adsorb. Though may result in only short storage times, however These can be designed longer than those for heating the Outlet duct required time at this point.
- Hydrocarbon emissions significantly improved cold start behavior provided.
