If a magnetic field is applied adiabatically to a Gd sample, its temperature increases a few degrees. In the same way, if the applied magnetic field is switched off, then the temperature of the sample decreases.

If a magnet is placed near the substrate on which the security pattern is printed, the temperature of the liquid crystals increases as a result of the increasing temperature of gadolinium so that the colour of the security pattern changes, e.g. the colour becomes blue-violet. When the magnet is removed, the temperature of the liquid crystals decreases as a result of the decreasing temperature of the gadolinium so that the colour of the security pattern changes again, e.g. the colour becomes red.

Claims (14)
- Sicherheitsdokument aufweisend Substratmittel (2) und auf einem vorbestimmten Bereich (4) der Substratmittel vorgesehene Sicherheitsmittel (5) zur Authentifizierung, wobei die Sicherheitsmittel (5) Mittel, die sichtbares Licht abhängig von der Temperatur selektiv reflektieren, und Mittel, die die Temperatur abhängig von der Anlegung eines Magnetfelds ändern, aufweisen, wobei die Mittel, die sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren, und die Mittel, die die Temperatur änderen, angeordnet sind, um die Sicherheitsmittel (5) zu bilden, die abhängig von einem an die Substratmittel angelegten Magnetfeld unterschiedliche Farben zeigen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Funktionsprinzip der Mittel, die die Temperatur abhängig von der Anlegung eines Magnetfelds ändern, auf dem magnetokalorischen Effekt beruht.
- Sicherheitsdokument nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Mittel, die sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren, Flüssigkristalle aufweisen.
- Sicherheitsdokument nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Mittel, die die Temperatur ändern, Gadolinium aufweisen.
- Sicherheitsdokument nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Mittel, die sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren, und die Mittel, die die Temperatur ändern, in einer Tinte eingebettet sind, die auf dem vorbestimmten Bereich der Oberfläche der Substratmittel aufgebracht ist.
- Sicherheitsdokument nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Temperaturbereich, in dem die Mittel sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren, in dem Bereich von -50 bis +60°C, vorzugsweise -20 bis +40°C, bevorzugter 15 bis 25°C, liegt.
- Sicherheitsdokument nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Substratmittel (2) ein oder mehrere Materialien aufweisen, die aus der Gruppe ausgewählt sind, die aus Papieren, Kunststoffen, Polymeren, Metallfolien und Metalllegierungsfolien besteht.
- Sicherheitsdokument nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Sicherheitsdokument eine Banknote ist.
- Verfahren zur Authentifizierung eines Sicherheitsdokuments mit den folgenden Schritten:Bereitstellen von Mitteln, die sichtbares Licht abhängig von der Temperatur selektiv reflektieren, und Mitteln, die die Temperatur abhängig von der Anlegung eines Magnetfelds ändern,Anordnen der Mittel, die sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren und der Mittel, die die Temperatur abhängig von der Anlegung eines Magnetfelds ändern so dass Sicherheitsmittel gebildet werden, die abhängig von einem an Substratmittel angelegten Magnetfeld unterschiedliche Farben zeigen,Bereitstellen der Sicherheitsmittel auf oder in den Substratmitteln, undAnlegen eines Magnetfelds an die Substratmittel, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Funktionsprinzip der Mittel, die die Temperatur abhängig von der Anlegung eines Magnetfeld ändern, auf dem magnetokalorischen Effekt beruht.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Mittel, die sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren, Flüssigkristalle aufweisen.
- Verfahren nach Anspruch 8 oder 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Mittel, die die Temperatur ändern, Gadolinium aufweisen.
- Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 10, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Mittel, die sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren, und die Mittel, die die Temperatur ändern, in einer Tinte eingebettet werden und die Tinte auf dem vorbestimmten Bereich der Oberfläche der Substratmittel aufgebracht wird.
- Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Temperaturbereich, in dem die Mittel sichtbares Licht selektiv reflektieren, in dem Bereich von -50 bis +60°C, vorzugsweise -20 bis +40°C, bevorzugter 15 bis 25°C, liegt.
- Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 12, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Substratmittel ein oder mehrere Materialien aufweisen, die aus der Gruppe ausgewählt sind, die aus Papieren, Kunststoffen, Polymeren, Metallfolien und Metalllegierungsfolien besteht.
- Verfahren nach einem der Ansprüche 8 bis 13, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Sicherheitsdokument eine Banknote ist.
