Definitions

  • the invention relates to a metal lid and thereby with a formation of a position fixing a grip tab on a metal cover for attachment to a hull of a beverage can, even by way of a method.
  • the JP-A 09/226 762 uses a similar projection in the area inside the rivet island, whose upwardly curved, deformed with a further step edge regions (there 17) via a "press-bond" with the curved wall side of the projection are overlapping connected to a turnstile to reach the side wall to prevent rotating the tongue part).
  • the invention is faced with the technical problem of achieving a turnstile tab, but to improve the manufacture and reliability of the turnstile or a positional alignment of the mounted grip tab.
  • the projection may be strip-shaped (line-shaped) and preferably oriented transversely and / or parallel to a longitudinal extension of the grip tab (longitudinal axis or longitudinal plane), wherein it engages on a correspondingly aligned edge edge of the attachment portion for its blocking effect or is formed very closely adjacent , In a longitudinal extension, the projection may extend over more than 30%, preferably over more than 50% to more than 80% of the width of the attachment lobe (claim 5).
  • the longitudinal extent is shorter than the longitudinal extent of the attachment tab (rivet island) of the handle tab, preferably at a location as far as possible from the attachment point with a large distance, but the is only so large that at least a portion of the two edge lines on the at least one projection at a start of a rotational movement is able to abut (claim 6).
  • the height extension of the at least one projection is to say that they should at least correspond to the sheet thickness of the attachment portion (claim 19, claim 20), preferably slightly to significantly higher trained to obtain a reliable positional fixation, which is not affected thereby that the grip portion is actuated or raised after the attachment portion beyond the attachment point is reliably located in a plane position to the panel portion in the vicinity of the rivet (button coin area).
  • the provision of a plurality of projections is possible, wherein not all projections must be assigned to the same outer edge section of the fastening section (claims 6 to 9).
  • the projections can also be designed differently, so strip-shaped, round to oval or combined. If a straight-line outer edge portion of the attachment portion is provided, a straight-line (strip-shaped) projection configuration may be advantageous.
  • the linear strip design can also be achieved by juxtaposing at least two punctiform projections, which then form a group which is assigned to the same outer edge of the attachment section.
  • the attachment portion as a fastening tab is connected via a kink area as joint line with the rest of the grip tab, so in one piece (claim 13, 11). It is thus formed between the opening portion (the insertion nose) and preferably provided with an opening handle portion.
  • the mounting portion is substantially rectangular, forms using the hinge line and three edge lines of the substantially rectangular, flat mounting portion of (claim 12).
  • this flat section is square, wherein the rivet head after assembly does not come to rest centrally but closer to the joint line. Accordingly, the distance of the outwardly facing peripheral edge is greater than half the longitudinal extent of the attachment portion, so that a correspondingly improved force effect arises when a projection on the panel can be assigned to the edge furthest away from the attachment point.
  • At least one unbalanced in cross-section projection which is formed steeper at its flank pointing to the mounting portion than the flank remote therefrom (claim 17, 18 and 22 or 23).
  • Such a design can also be selected with punctiform or oval projections.
  • a thickness reduction of an upper side of the (strip-shaped) projection (claim 22) preferably takes place. This results in solidification of this portion and the entire projection as such as well. This also applies to the method (claim 35). Simultaneously with the reshaping and the score line can be introduced in the same operation (claim 37).
  • the invention claimed here covers the formation of the projection at such a location, which is far enough away from the intended attachment point (the molded rivet or its preform) so far that the outer edge comes in the form of a rivet island facing away from the future rivet edge very close to the projection to make the turnstile effect.
  • This space is visible in the outer edge region of a Nietkopf-courtes or "Nietfußes", which remained around the formation of the rivet center from the preform of the rivet visible (claim 24 to 28, claim 32).
  • the projection as a line or strip lies at least partially outside the weakened Nietfuß Schemes in which the sheet is thin by the shape of the attachment point.
  • the edge region of this Nietfußes is addressed (claim 25), wherein preferably more than 40% of an assumed area of a strip-shaped projection outside the Nietfuß Schemees are (claim 26).
  • a strip shape is provided as a projection, it can be made larger in its length than the diameter of the finished rivet head.
  • the attachment portion is formed from one piece of the center region of the grip tab, there are only slight visible gaps between the mounted over a double fold line down to a lower level mounting portion and the slightly above parallel plane of the remaining grip tab.
  • the attachment of the projections on at least one of the free, from the attachment portion facing outward marginal edges is therefore difficult or difficult to see from the outside, so that the rotation block is almost invisible to the viewer.
  • a possibly color-coded grip tab is not changed further in its colored form.
  • the in Figure 1 to 3 resulting sheet metal lid clearly has an edge portion 12 which is suitable for folding to a beverage can body.
  • the sheet metal lid itself is made of a sheet of small thickness, usually less than 0.24 mm, and has already undergone previous workstations before FIG. 1 represents him. It has an inner lid mirror (panel) 10, which is surrounded by the seam edge 12. Within the lid mirror 10, a line of weakness 16 is provided around an opening area which is surrounded by a substantially U-shaped bead 18.
  • the substantially O-shaped line of weakness 16 is designed as a score which has a transition portion which is not notched is and thus serves as a connecting portion to the rest of the panel 10 when the opening portion 17 is broken by the action of a later mentioned grip tab along the score line 16.
  • an attachment point 11 is provided, which can be seen later in the enlarged detail later. It is a mounting portion as sheet metal tabs 31 associated schematically, the part of the grip tab after FIG. 3 is at which he is integrally formed over a joint line as a bending line 38.

  • the arranged grip tab 30 is substantially parallel to the panel, which itself need not be formed exactly in a plane, but may be slightly curved, but the area around the attachment point 11 is substantially planar and here allows a substantially parallel arrangement of the attachment tab 31 of the pull tab 30.
  • longitudinal center plane 100 is shown, which extends in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the grip tab 30.
  • a transverse plane 101 is perpendicular thereto.
  • the grip portion 32 of the grip tab engages over the finger recess 13, which is mounted approximately the same distance as the inner reinforcing rib 18 a on the other side of the attachment point 11 in the panel 10.
  • the grip tab is in the course of the emergence of the finished metal lid only in the FIG. 3 appropriate.
  • the attachment point is first formed as a bubble in order to attach the attachment portion 31 of the handle tab 30 to the panel can.
  • Around this attachment point 11 are around according to FIG. 1 three strip-shaped projections formed as beads projecting upwards (ie to the outside of the sheet metal lid).
  • the bead 20 lying transversely to the center plane 100 is longer than the two adjacent beads, which run parallel to the center plane 100. They are in FIG. 4 illustrated with 21a, 21b illustrated, as there, the longer bead 20 is shown in more detail with respect to the attachment tabs 31.
  • the attachment tab 31 is in the FIG. 1 located only to illustrate the distances of the beads of the attachment point 11, but is not yet here on the sheet metal lid.
  • the shape of the three beads 20,21a, 21b is improved or made more accurate. This "reforming" leads to a formation of the beads (protrusions), as they later for the positional fixation FIG. 3 and the figures described below is used.
  • these projections receive their correct profile geometries after they have been integrally molded out of the cover sheet (the panel) and extend in the height direction h at least at a height corresponding to the sheet thickness of the attachment portion 31 of the grip tab 30.
  • this grip tab 30 when this grip tab 30 is added, it is placed over the rivet shank, which is formed in a molding operation with a rivet head, wherein it is shown larger in diameter than in the preceding Figures 1 and 2 , With this Nietkopf Struktur the grip tab 30 is attached to the panel and that on the mounting portion 31, which is connected via the fold line 38 with the rest of the handle tab 30.

  • the front nose end of the opening portion 33 would be moved away from the exact location intended to ensure the breaking force, the tearing and the subsequent complete opening of the opening portion 17. Desirable it is after FIG. 4 that is, to design the movement ⁇ as small as possible, preferably even to suppress it altogether.
  • FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 three strip-shaped projections 21 a, 21 b and 20 are provided, which are assigned to the three free marginal edges 31 a, 31 b, 31 c of the attachment portion 31 of the handle portion 30.
  • a small gap 21 ', 21 "and 20' can remain between the respective outwardly facing edge and the respective inner edge of the respective projection, for example. 31 c of 20" in the projection 20.

If, on the other hand, a projection is selected which is assigned to a peripheral edge extending parallel to the longitudinal plane 100, at least two projections on two edges available to this extent must be provided as "stop edges" for a symmetrical limitation of rotary movements of the grip tab 30.
  • All described projections are arranged outside of the mounting portion 30, so that they with at least one of its respective outer peripheral edges (edge) can work together blocking.
  • FIGS. 9a and 9b The effect of the torques is on the FIGS. 9a and 9b illustrated. It is assumed with a view from above of the mounting portion 31 that this is arranged on the attachment point 11 (usually a rivet head) on the panel 10. Schematically, a parallel to the center plane 100 of the tab (the handle tab 30) lying lateral projection 21a is drawn, which is loaded with a force by an assumed rotation in the direction of ⁇ . With an assumed length I of the attachment portion 31, the attachment point 11 is closer to the hinge line 38 than to the rear end 31c of the attachment portion 31, so that an effective force arm I 1 is greater than half the length I of the attachment portion 31. Due to the placement of the line or strip-shaped projection 21 a near the rear edge line 31 c, a force on a large lever arm can apply a large torque to lock (blocking torque) to prevent rotation.
  • FIG. 10 illustrates a thinned area visible around the rivet head 11 from the inside of the lid.
  • This rivet base portion 11a is a portion left after the second forming of the rivet head 11 on the outer side, usually visible by circular lines around the center of the rivet as the attachment point 11 around.
