- a dielectric barrier discharge lamp with a discharge vessel and at least two electrodes thereby in that the discharge vessel has an outer bulb and a Inner piston comprises, the inner piston disposed within the outer bulb is, the inner piston and the outer bulb gas-tightly interconnected are, whereby between inner and outer piston with a discharge medium filled discharge space is formed, the electrodes on the remote from the discharge space outside of the wall of the inner piston are arranged.
- the invention is based on the finding that it is advantageous on the one hand is to a dielectric barrier discharge lamp with external electrodes too realize, because of the simple production of the electrodes without dielectric Coating and easy contacting of the electrodes with a Operating gear, without the need for a gas-tight power feedthrough to have to accept that then on the other hand, the outer electrodes also protected against contact and possibly further external influences should be.
- the solution according to the invention provides - in simplified terms - that the discharge vessel from an outer bulb and arranged therein, preferably tubular Inner piston with a smaller diameter made gas-tight and that the electrodes are on the outside of the discharge vessel wall but are arranged inside the inner piston.
- the wall of the Inner piston spans namely a cavity, the kind of a kind Invagination forms in the discharge vessel in which the outer electrodes are located.
- the external electrodes are inadvertent Access protected.
- the cavity at least from one or both end faces the lamp is accessible can be preferably strip or line-shaped electrodes easily on the side facing away from the discharge space Apply outside of the inner piston, preferably parallel to Longitudinal axis of the inner piston oriented.
- the electrodes are preferred with respect to arranged uniformly distributed the circumference of the inner piston.
- the electrodes can be easily connected via suitable power supply an electrical supply device, preferably for in the US 5,604,410 disclosed pulsed operation is designed, connect and Although without elaborate gas-tight power feedthrough.
- this part is compared Saved to the volume covered by the outer bulb. This is even more true, as the distance between the wall of the inner piston and the wall of the outer bulb at least in partial areas of the discharge vessel less or even significantly smaller than the inside diameter of the inner piston is, typically only a few millimeters.
- the tubular inner piston and the tubular Outer bulb of equal length sits concentrically inside the outer bulb and is gas-tight with the latter at both ends connected.
- the two pistons at one end of the discharge vessel of the tubular inner piston shorter than the tubular outer bulb. There are the two pistons each closed with a dome-shaped dome. At the other End of the discharge vessel, both pistons are gas-tight with each other connected.
