Definitions
- the invention relates to a brake disc, in particular for an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV), with an outer ring and an inner ring, wherein these two rings are connected to each other in a floating manner at a plurality of connection points by a respective clamping connector.
- ATV All Terrain Vehicle
- Brake discs are usually one-piece made of hardened metal components. When braking, a brake calliper with brake pads is pressed against the brake disc, so that a high friction between brake disc and brake pad occurs.
- the brake disc may become so hot that it deforms and the suspension is damaged or gets stuck in the brake caliper.
- two-piece brake discs which usually consist of a hardened outer ring, which serves as an attack surface for the brake caliper and an inner ring for mounting the brake disc to a hub or an axle of the vehicle.
- the inner ring may be made of the same material as the outer ring or other material, such as aluminum.
- Outer and inner ring are connected in a floating manner by means of clamping connectors, so-called floaters, so that the two discs can perform relative movements.
- a heat-related Expansion of the outer ring is not transmitted to the extent to the inner ring, that the suspension of the brake disc is exposed to stresses. Furthermore, reduces the risk that the brake disc can settle in the brake caliper.
- a brake disc is known in which the torque is transmitted directly from the inner ring to the outer ring.
- the two rings each contact surfaces that touch during rotation and absorb the forces.
- the clamp connectors serve only as a backup in the axial direction. A wear of the clamp connector by torque transmission does not occur, thereby increasing the durability.
- the brake disc shown is mainly intended for motorcycles, in which the torque load usually occurs only in one direction of rotation.
- the brake disc is attached to the wheel hub or rim.
- mechanical forces such as bending forces, shocks and shocks are transmitted to the rim directly on the brake disc.
- These bending forces the brake calipers can be pushed back, whereby a metered braking is difficult or the brake disc can be damaged. It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a brake disc for vehicles, especially for ATVs, which withstands the increased loads and offers greater reliability.
- the outer ring and the inner ring have drivers, the m rotational direction approximately positively engage with each other.
- the carriers which engage in one another in a form-fitting manner, can transfer the power transmission in the direction of rotation so that the brake disk remains ready for operation. This also prevents the Klemmverbmder continues to wear.
- the power transmission between the outer ring and inner ring in the direction of rotation may optionally also take place from the outset exclusively or additionally via the driver. In exclusive power transmission via the driver clamp serve only for axial stabilization and to absorb lateral forces and therefore have no stress-related wear, which increases the durability and the life of the brake disc as a whole.
- the drivers may alternatively or additionally be arranged between the connection points, wherein the arrangement has no effect on the function, but only on the weight and the appearance of the brake disc.
- the form-fitting interlocking Carrier formed by in each case at least one, approximately radially oriented Anformung or molding.
- the drivers are formed on the outer ring by a respective radially inwardly projecting Anformung and if the drivers are formed on the inner ring by at least one radially outwardly projecting Anformung.
- a driver pair of inner ring and outer ring driver can be carried out asymmetrically with respect to the other driver pairs, the two carriers of the pair are simply mirrored in the circumferential direction.
- driver can also be two circumferentially spaced driver form an approximately U-shaped receptacle, which together with a driver of the mating ring form a pair, for example, can engage an outer ring driver in the rotational direction in an approximately U-shaped receptacle of two inner ring drivers.
- connection points with clamp connectors and carriers for connecting the outer ring to the inner ring are provided. Due to the small number of joints, a greater degree of freedom of movement of the outer ring is achieved. In addition, the brake disc is lighter and easier and cheaper to produce.
- a gap is provided between the two rings in the area of Connecting points.
- a radial gap can be provided between the drivers, the radial gap of which amounts to approximately 2 mm, preferably approximately 0.75 mm.
- a gap between the drivers can be provided in the direction of rotation, wherein the gap between the drivers is expediently up to about 1 mm, preferably about 0.25 mm.
- the clamping connectors provided in the region of the connection points are formed in two parts with a stop pin and a lock washer, wherein preferably at least one of the two clamp connector parts is supported with a corrugated spring axially movable against the rings.
- a bilateral support of the rings is provided by corrugated springs in the rule. This increased freedom of movement, the two rings are well decoupled from each other, creating a higher reliability is achieved.
- the clamp connector sits in the region of a junction in approximately half-shell-shaped formations of the two rings.
- the respective clamp connector can also be arranged directly between the rings.
- the clamp connector parts can be firmly connected after assembly, such as riveted, soldered or by another non-positive connection.
- the clamp connector parts are screwed or held by releasable securing elements. This preserves the possibility of disassembling the clamping connections and replacing the outer ring separately from the inner ring.
- the outer ring preferably made of hardened steel.
- the inner ring is preferably made of steel or hardened steel, but may be made of other metals or metal alloys such as aluminum.
- the inner and outer ring for example by laser cutting, can be manufactured from one part. As a result, the production is simple and inexpensive, since both parts can be manufactured in one operation.
- the gap widths in the area of the drivers automatically correspond to the cutting width of the laser beam.
- the inner ring may preferably be made of anodized aluminum.
- the inner ring may preferably be made of anodized aluminum.

- ATV All Terrain Vehicle
- the inner ring four mounting holes 4, this number depends on the rim / hub manufacturer.
- Both the outer ring 2 and the inner ring 3 have numerous recesses 6, which serve the weight reduction and the faster heat dissipation.
- the outer ring 2 and the inner ring 3 are connected to three at a distance of 120 ° uniformly distributed around the connection points 5, in each of which a Klemmverbmder 12 engages in approximately half-shell-shaped formations of the two rings 2, 3.
- the m circumferential direction next to the respective Klemmverbmder 12 located areas of the two rings 2, 3 have approximately subsequently to the half-shell-shaped form-fitting interlocking driver 7, 8, so that the two rings 2, 3 are secured against rotation in the direction of rotation relative to each other, also if the clamp connector 12 should be missing.
- the drivers 7 are each formed by the free, radially inwardly pointing ends of the schschalenför- shaped molding, which adjoin these drivers 7 laterally in the direction of rotation clearances.
- drivers 8 are also arranged in the region of the connection points 6, which points essentially radially outward and overlap over the outer sides of the drivers 7 of the outer ring 2. They each form an approximately U-shaped receptacle for the driver 7 of the outer ring 2. Between the drivers 7 and 8, a gap 9 is provided in approximately the radial direction and in the circumferential or rotational direction, a gap 11 (Fig. 2), so that despite the positive connection still freedom of movement between the outer ring 2 and the inner ring 3 m circumferential direction is present.
- the radial gap 9 between the drivers 7, 8 can be about 0.75 mm and the gap 11 m circumferential direction between the inner ring driver 7 and the outer ring drivers 8 about 0.25 mm wide.
