Es hat sich gezeigt, dass derartige Betonkonstruktionen den Vorteil besitzen, in einer Aufprallsituation nicht nachzugeben und deshalb in relativ eng bemessenen Einbausituationen zum Absichern von Fahrbahnen eingesetzt werden können. Dieser vermeintliche Vorteil hat allerdings schwerwiegende Folgen für die Insassen eines anprallenden Fahrzeugs. Die Tatsache, dass die Betonkonstruktion im Anprallfall nicht nachgibt, führt dazu, dass die gesamte Anprallenergie vom Fahrzeug selbst abgebaut werden muss. Regelmäßig kommt es aufgrund der konischen Profilierung der Konstruktion dazu, dass insbesondere kleinere leichtgewichtige Fahrzeuge in Folge eines Anpralls an der Konstruktion aufsteigen, zur Fahrbahn zurückgelenkt werden und dann wieder auf die Fahrbahn herunterfallen. Dabei kommt es zu erheblichen Schwankbewegungen des Fahrzeugs, die auf die Fahrzeuginsassen übertragen werden. Schlimmstenfalls kann es in Folge eines solchen Aufpralls dazu kommen, dass die Insassen mit dem Kopf an einen Seitenholm des Fahrzeugs schlagen und sich dabei schwerwiegende Verletzungen zuziehen. Auch bei Ausbleiben eines solchen Anschlagens führen die erheblichen Schwankbewegungen, die durch das schlagartige Zurückwerfen des Fahrzeugs von der nicht nachgebenden Betonkonstruktionen resultieren, zu erheblichen Krafteinwirkungen auf den Körper des Fahrers sowie etwaiger Fahrzeuginsassen, die massive innere Verletzungen bis hin zu Genickbrücken nach sich ziehen.Such vehicle restraint systems are known from the prior art. In Figur 1 ist ein erfindungsgemäßes Fahrzeugrückhaltesystem gezeigt und allgemein mit 10 bezeichnet. Die in Figur 5 gezeigte Abwandlung kann auch nur einen vorübergehenden Zustand während der Montage darstellen. So wird dann der Befestigungsbügel 40 lediglich vorübergehend als Montagehilfe für die Elastomermatten 20, 20, 24 verwendet und nach Befestigung der Elastomermatten an der Betonwand mittels geeigneter Befestigungsbolzen 26 in der in Figur 4 gezeigten Weise anschließend wieder entfernt. Beide Varianten - Befestigungsbügel 40 als dauerhafte Befestigung oder Befestigungsbügel 40 als Montagehilfe - sind von Vorteil.
