Definitions

  • connecting the housing components of the electrical connector assembly can be difficult because the male contact element is no longer freely accessible due to the cap placed on it, making it impossible to establish an electrically conductive connection between the male and female contact elements.
  • a plug-in housing for at least partially receiving a housing plug-in component with the features of claim 1 and an electrical plug connection arrangement for connecting a male contact element and a female contact element with the features of claim 7.
  • male contact element can refer to a protruding, freely accessible, electrically conductive element.
  • female contact element can refer to an electrically conductive element that may have a receptacle for receiving a male contact element.
  • the plug-in housing according to the invention is therefore based on the concept of permanently covering an outwardly facing end face of an exposed male contact element by means of a contact element arranged, in particular, in line with the through-opening of the plug-in housing. This ensures finger contact protection or, more generally, contact protection of the plug-in housing, since the end face of the male contact element cannot be freely accessible when the plug-in housing and the housing insert are not connected, thus preventing unintentional contact with the male contact element at this end face.
  • the freely accessible cross-section of the recess can be reduced by providing the contact element in a mating face of the plug-in housing, thereby reducing the risks of accidentally reaching past the contact element and of laterally touching the male contact element.
  • the touch safety of the connector housing can be achieved very simply and cost-effectively, since no additional cap made of electrically insulating material is required to cover the male contact element.
  • the handling of the connector housing and the electrical connector assembly can be simplified in use, as the connector housing and the housing insert can be plugged into each other without any further steps.
  • the female contact element can be connected to a first conductor arrangement and/or the male contact element can be connected to a second conductor arrangement, so that a corresponding electrical contact between both is possible.
  • Conductor arrangements can be made possible via the male and female contact elements.
  • the female contact element can be part of the first conductor arrangement and/or the male contact element can be part of the second conductor arrangement.
  • the contact element can be essentially U-shaped, with leg ends of the contact element being connected to the bottom wall of the recess adjacent to an edge section of the opening. This allows the male contact element to be held particularly securely in the recess, as the contact element can be surrounded by several end faces. Furthermore, the touch safety of the connector housing can be further increased, as additional exposed end faces of the male contact element can be covered by the contact element.
  • the legs of the contact element can be at least partially, for example along a longitudinal extension of the legs, partially or completely connected to opposite side walls of the recess. Therefore, the contact element can be particularly stable and firmly connected to the base body, thus preventing unintentional bending or breakage of the contact element. Furthermore, the freely accessible cross-section of the recess can be reduced in the longitudinal direction of the contact element, thus providing a particularly high level of touch resistance for the plug housing.
  • the recess is chamber-shaped with a substantially rectangular cross-section, with the U-shaped contact element being arranged centrally within the recess. This measure allows the freely accessible cross-section of the recess to be uniformly reduced, so that the touch safety of the plug housing can be equally good across the entire cross-section of the recess.
  • the plug-in housing can also have a rib-shaped reinforcing element that can be arranged in the recess and extend transversely, in particular perpendicularly, to the mating element, wherein the reinforcing element can connect the mating element to a side wall of the recess.
  • the reinforcing element can be designed as a rib or in a rib-like form. This allows the mating element to be supported against the side wall of the recess, thus improving the positional stability of the mating element in the recess of the plug-in housing. Furthermore, the exposed cross-section of the recess between the mating element and the side wall can be further reduced, thus additionally improving the touch safety of the plug-in housing.
  • the reinforcing element can be connected to the base wall.
  • a reinforcing element can be provided on each side of the system element.
  • the base body, the contact element, and/or the reinforcement element can be formed in one piece and/or comprise or be formed from electrically insulating material, in particular plastic. This allows the plug housing to be manufactured particularly simply and therefore cost-effectively. Manufacturing the base body, the contact element, and/or the reinforcement element from electrically insulating material can prevent an electrically conductive connection of the male contact element via adjacent components.
  • At least one further section of the male contact element can be positively engaged in the through-hole and/or the section of the contact element can be positively engaged on the inside of the mounting element, so that unintentional release of the male contact element from the or the plug housing can be prevented.
  • the male contact element can have a contact blade or be designed as a contact blade, and the through-hole can have an elongated cross-section.
  • the terms "contact blade” or “blade contact” can each denote an end section of an electrical conductor, which can be particularly flat or rectangular, for example, similar to the shape of a knife or knife end.
  • This design of the male contact element especially compared to a design with a contact pin, can create an enlarged contact area for electrical contact. Furthermore, the large friction surface of the contact blade can make it more difficult to detach.
  • the male contact element can have a contact pin or be designed as a contact pin, and the through-hole of the connector housing can have a corresponding shape that may be adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the contact pin.
  • the term "contact pin" can, in particular, refer to an end section of an electrical conductor, which may be cylindrical in shape.
  • the invention further relates to an electrical plug-in connection arrangement for connecting a male contact element and a female contact element, comprising a housing plug-in component having a recess and a through-opening in a bottom wall of the recess, the female contact element arranged in the recess, a plug-in housing as described above, and the male contact element, wherein a section of the male contact element is inserted through a through-opening of the plug-in housing into a recess of the plug-in housing and rests against a side of a U-shaped contact element of the plug-in housing facing the through-opening, and wherein the housing plug-in component can be inserted into the recess of the plug-in housing such that the female contact element at least partially receives the U-shaped contact element and the section of the male contact element arranged in the recess when the housing plug-in component is inserted and contacts opposing sides of the section of the male contact element on the inside.
  • the female contact element can partially or completely slide past the mating element and partially or completely past the section of the male contact element, so that the male and female contact elements can be electrically connected via the lateral end faces of the male contact element. This can enable good electrical contact between the male and female contact elements while simultaneously ensuring touch safety and ease of handling of the plug-in assembly.
  • an outer surface of the bottom wall of the recess of the housing plug-in component can be supported against the bottom wall of the recess of the plug-in housing when plugged in.
  • the female contact element can have two or more opposing, and in particular pre-tensioned, spring arms into which the section of the male contact element can be forcefully inserted when the housing insert component is in the inserted state.
  • the female contact element can be designed as a contact tulip.
  • the term "contact tulip" can, in particular, refer to a multi-segmented female contact element. This allows the female contact element to be designed with a particularly simple structure, and unintentional release of the male contact element from the female contact element can be prevented due to the spring arms pressing against the male contact element.
  • the number of opposing spring arms can be the same, so that the force that can be applied to the male contact element is both increased and evenly distributed across freely accessible, lateral end faces of the male contact element. This can enable a particularly secure arrangement of the male contact element within the female contact element, while simultaneously minimizing material stress on the male contact element when inserted.
  • At least one spring arm, or several, and especially all, of the opposing spring arms can be multi-segmented, especially with an equal number of elongated finger sections or elongated tongue sections.
  • this can enable a particularly secure arrangement of the male contact element within the female contact element, while simultaneously minimizing the material stress on the male contact element in its inserted state.
  • the ends of the spring arms can be spaced apart, particularly slightly, from sections of a bottom wall of the recess which extend transversely, in particular perpendicularly, to a longitudinal extent of the recess, so that the female contact element can be electrically isolated from the housing insert component.
  • the plug connection arrangement can also have an overspring that can forcefully surround the spring arms of the female contact element. This allows the force of the spring arms on the male contact element to be increased and remain constant over time, thus ensuring consistently good electrical contact between the female and male contacts. A male contact element can be ensured.
  • An electrical connector arrangement 10 has a Figures 1a - 1h shown plug housing 12 and one in Figures 2a - 2g shown housing plug-in component 14, which can be partially received in the plug-in housing 12 in a plugged-in state of the housing plug-in component 14.

Each recess 18 of the plug-in housing 12 is chamber-shaped with a rectangular cross-section and is formed into the base body 16 from a common top surface. Six through-openings 20 of the body 16 of the plug-in housing 12 extend through the body 16, and each through-opening 20 opens into a bottom wall 22 of a recess 18. The through-opening 20 tapers in a stepped manner towards the recess 18 and has an elongated, rectangular cross-section. A depth direction of the through-opening 20 corresponds to a depth direction of the recess 18.
  • a section 24 of a boundary wall 26 of the through-opening 20 extends perpendicular to the depth direction of the through-opening 20 and forms a full-circumference contact surface for a male contact element 28 designed as a contact knife of the electrical plug connection arrangement 10.
