Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a wall module for a building structure, a building structure and relative methods of making a wall module for a building structure and a building structure
  • the erected walls have poor load bearing capacity or resistance, given that the sheets of plasterboard and the filled portion inserted in the interspace have no load bearing function but merely infill and heat-noise insulation functions.
  • plasterboard solutions of the prior art are not entirely detachable and re-utilisable : in other words, the removal of the plasterboard structure involves destruction and prevents the recycling of all the parts removed.
  • figure 1 shows a perspective view of a wall for a building structure comprising wall modules according to one embodiment of the present invention
  • figure 2 is a cross-section view of a wall module according to the present invention.
  • figure 3 shows the enlarged detail III in figure 2;
  • figure 4 shows the enlarged detail IV in figure 2;
  • figures 5-7 show views from different angles of a component of the ' wall module according to the present invention.
  • figure 8 shows a perspective view of the component in figures 5-7 in a configuration of partial assembly with a structural panel
  • figure 9 shows a side view of a component of the wall module according to a further embodiment of the present invention.
  • figure 10 shows a perspective view of a component of the wall module according to a further embodiment of the present invention.
  • reference numeral 4 globally denotes a wall module for a building structure.
  • the wall module 4 is shown in a rectangular shape: for the purposes of the present invention the shape and dimensions of the module may be varied as needed while remaining within the sphere of the invention .
  • the wall module 4 comprises a lower rail 8 defining a lower base of the module 4 wherein the lower rail 8 has at least one base plate 12 and a pair of lateral portions 16 bent in relation -to the base plate 12 so as to assume an overall "U" configuration defining a first seat 20.
  • the module 4 further comprises an upper rail 24, defining an upper base of the module 4, the upper rail 24 having at least one base plate 12 and a pair of lateral portions 16 bent in relation to the base plate 12 so as to assume an overall "U" configuration defining a second seat 28.
  • at least one of said lower 8 and upper 24 rails is aligned in an axial direction X-X.
  • each of said lower and upper rails 8, 24 is aligned in an axial direction X-X. It is also possible for the lower and upper rails 8, 24 not to be parallel but incident, as happens for example when making wall modules for attics.
  • said lower and upper rails 8, 24 are parallel to each other.
  • the lower and upper rails 8, 24 are positioned so as to present the respective first and second seats 20, 28 facing each other.
  • the lateral portions 16 terminate with appendages 32 recessed towards a centreline M- of the rails 8, 24 so as to delimit an entrance 36 of the first and of the second seat 20, 28 in a recessed position in relation to the lateral portions 16.
  • the module 4 comprises a structural panel 40 which extends from a lower rim 44 to an upper rim 48, wherein the lower rim 44 is inserted in the first seat 20 and the upper rim 48 is inserted in the second seat 28, so as to connect and attach the rails to each other and stiffen the wall module 4.
  • the structural panel 40 is for example made from OSB; further materials may be used, even metal and/or polymer materials. [0030]
  • the structural panel 40 has a load bearing function for the module, as well as a wind bracing function.
  • connection means such as gluing, threaded connection means, nails, rivets and the like.
  • the structural panel 40 is subject to bending and twisting.
  • the rails 8, 24, 60 stiffen it, reducing these: in other words, the rails positioned perimetrally to the structural panel 40 have the function of stiffening the panel itself.
  • the wall module 4 can "stand up” without falling, merely by coupling to the structural panel 40, without needing, at least at an initial phase, further attachment .
  • the wall module 4 preferably comprises a pair of longitudinal rails 60, positioned perpendicular to the lower and upper rails 8,24 so as to form with the latter a perimetral frame of the module 4, in which the longitudinal rails 60 comprise at least one base plate 12 and a pair of lateral portions 16 bent in relation to the base plate 12 so as to assume an overall "U" configuration defining a longitudinal seat 64, each longitudinal seat 64 housing a longitudinal rim 68 of the structural panel 40.
  • the module 4 comprises a pair of cover panels 52, joined on opposite sides to the lower and upper rails 8, 24 at the lateral portions 16, so as to enclose said rails 8, 24 between them.
  • the wall module 4 delimits internally a pair of interspaces 56, at least one interspace 56 being delimited between a cover panel 52 and the structural panel 40. According to one embodiment, each interspace 56 is delimited between a cover panel 52 and the structural panel 40.
  • the wall module 4 comprises a tripartite structure having in sequence, a first cover panel 52, the structural panel 40 and a second cover panel 52. Said cover panels 52 and structural panel 40 are separated from each other by respective interspaces 56.
  • the cover panels 52 may be made of any material, depending on the function/positioning of the wall module which may for example be used both for internal and external applications.
  • cover panels 52 are attached to the respective lateral portions 16 by gluing, threaded connection means, nails and the like.
  • the wall module 4 may comprise at least one intermediate rail 72, positioned inside said interspaces 56 in an intermediate position between pairs of lower 44 and upper 48 rails or between pairs of longitudinal rails 60.
  • the intermediate rail 72 may be positioned parallel to the longitudinal rails 60 or to the lower and upper rails 44 or diagonally to increase the wind bracing (tie rod and strut) .
  • the intermediate rail 72 may in turn be attached to the structural panel 40 and/or to said rails.
  • the function of the intermediate rail 72 is for example that of creating a support for the cover panels 52 at the overhanging portion between the respective lower, upper and longitudinal rails 8, 24, 60 to which said cover panels 52 are constrained.
  • the intermediate rails 72 have the function of stiffening the structure but also of support for example for the attachment of furnishings to the wall module 4.
  • the lateral portions 16 and the appendages 32 of the rails composing the module 4 are the same as each other in shape and size, so that the lower, upper and/or intermediate rails 8, 24, 60, 72 are interchangeable with each other.
  • the rail is single and may be cut if too long or elongated, for example by joints, always using a portion of the same type of rail which thus proves interchangeable.
  • the first and/or second seat 20, 28 is a continuous seat between opposite lateral ends 76 of the wall module 4, so as to allow sliding of the structural panel 40 along said seat.
  • the appendages 32 are substantially perpendicular to the lateral portions 16.
  • the appendages 32 end with tabs 80 bent towards the base plate 12 so as to constitute a pinching of the structural panel 40.
  • the tabs 80 substantially define the entrance 36 of the housing seat for the structural panel 40.
  • said tabs 80 after the insertion of the structural panel 40, are substantially perpendicular to the base plate 12 and to the appendages 32. Consequently, the base plate 12, the lateral portions 16, the appendages 32 and the tabs 80 form a substantially quadrangular structure; preferably such structure is square.
  • the lateral portions 16 and the appendages 32 are the same length L, said length being measured in relation to a cross-section plane perpendicular to a main direction of extension S-S of the said rails.
  • the thickness T of the interspace 56 is equal to the length "L" of the appendages 32 and also makes it possible to house an intermediate panel 72 directly facing the structural panel 40, so as to position it with its lateral portions 16 perpendicular to said structural panel 40 (figure 2).
  • the base plate 12 comprises at least one groove or recess 84 parallel to the main direction of extension S-S of the rail.
  • the base plate comprises at least a pair of grooves or recesses 84 parallel to the main direction of extension S-S of the rail .
  • the grooves are suitable for favouring the elasticity of the rail for the insertion and subsequent pinching of the structural panel 40.
  • the grooves 84 may have different geometries, said geometries being measured in relation to a cross-section plane perpendicular to a main direction of extension S-S of the rail: for example the grooves may have a triangular, isosceles triangle or rectangular geometry.
  • Grooves 84 may be provided at the base plate 12, the lateral portions 16, the appendages 32 and the tabs 80.
  • the grooves 84 are positioned on the various portions of the rail so as to prove overall symmetrical to the centreline M-M of said rail.
  • holes or windows 88 are provided on the rail, for the insertion of attachment screws or for the passage of installations and cables.
  • the holes or windows 88 may be made at the base plate 12, the lateral portions 16, the appendages 32 and the tabs 80.
  • the holes or windows 88 may be any shape or size; preferring circular or elliptical geometries, with a shallow indentation effect and such as not to excessively weaken the mechanical resistance of said rail.
  • the rails 8,24, 60, 72 may be made from metal or metal at least partially coated with polymeric material. Obviously other materials may also be used. [0059] The modules described above may be placed alongside each other and joined to make walls and entire building structures .
  • the wall modules 4 are for example connected at respective longitudinal rails 60 adjacent to each other, said longitudinal rails 60 being joined to each other by placing the respective base plates 12 alongside each other and attaching them by connection, means such as slats or tongues made on the base plate 12 by means of punching, gluing, threaded connections, nails and the like.
  • the wall modules 4 may also be used to make floors and any type of structure.
  • a second longitudinal rail 60 on a second longitudinal rim 68 of the structural panel 40 so as to delimit the structural panel 40 by means of a perimetral frame, preferably but not necessarily closed.
  • the perimetral frame may in fact comprise portions of rails which are not connected to each other at their respective ends.
  • Adj acent rails may be constrained to each other by connection means such as slats or tongues made on the base plate 12 by means of punching, threaded connections, nails, gluing and similar means.
  • the present invention makes it possible to overcome the drawbacks presented in relation to the prior art. [0070] In particular all the elements can be dismantled and re-utilised without any waste of material and without requiring any destruction.
  • stiffening rails are not necessarily whole, but may also be cut into pieces, thus avoiding waste.
  • the structural panel 40 may also be in pieces and not a whole. This way waste is reduced and the walls can be closed in points which would otherwise be difficult to reach.
  • the structure may thus be completely dismantled and removed, recovering each element thereof.
  • the profile is safe because it does not present visible sharp parts, is at right angles and is easy to install .
  • Installation is fast, requires the use of few tools (such as a hammer, screwdriver and hacksaw) .
  • the wall module is easy not just to assemble but also to use: for example accessories (such as a picture, a shelf etc.) may be screwed to the external covering material, that is to say the cover panel 52 and the structural panel 40.
  • the single profile/rail used is substantially universal and proves lightweight and manageable.
  • the same profile may be used as attachment to the ceiling, to the floor, as an intermediate attachment between adjacent panels and as an intermediate support.
  • the profile/rail may be turned by 90 degrees as a spacer between the finishing/cover panels and support/point of attachment, on any point of the wall .
  • the profile/rail has bends which give it greater resistance and also a slight flexing in inserting the panel inside it: thereby facilitating assembly of the wall and ensuring the. load bearing function thereof.
  • the profile acts as a secondary frame for the window or door.
  • the profile/rail may be advantageously used to insert windows, doors and frames of any kind, facilitating the subsequent assembly step.
  • the system according to the present invention is extremely versatile in that it can be used in various ways, for 'inside, outside walls, ceilings, floors etc.
