Definitions
- the present invention relates to a sealing system for a wall system.
- a wide variety of wall systems are known from the prior art, including those wall systems that are only assembled in workshops.
- So-called element facades are known, for example, which are used in particular in representative buildings and have prefabricated large-area elements of curtain walls.
- the advantage of such element facades lies in the production under controlled conditions and the associated reduction or prevention of processing and installation errors.
- EPDM ethylene-propylene-diene rubber
- Such element facades are characterized by circumferential horizontal sealing levels (so-called saddle seals). These are usually applied to the upper transom after the facade elements of a floor have been installed and then form a continuous horizontal sealing plane.
- the vertical seals are usually already pre-installed on a side post of the elements. In order to seal the butt joints between vertical and horizontal seals in accordance with the requirements for air and driving rain tightness, these are usually connected with liquid sealing adhesive.
- U.S. 4,204,373 discloses a sealing system according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the present invention is therefore based on the object of creating a possibility which achieves an even more extensive prefabrication of the sealing systems already in the factory and thus under controlled conditions. Furthermore, the need for installation work and gluing or sealing measures on the construction site should be reduced as far as possible and ideally even avoided.
- a sealing system according to the invention for a wall system has at least one sealing element that is compressible in at least one compression direction and also expandable in this compression direction, which can be applied to at least one section of a first wall element, and a holding means which can be applied to this expandable sealing element in such a way that this installation of the holding means on the sealing element an expansion of the sealing element at least in the compression direction is prevented.
- the holding means has a contact area and can be applied with this contact area to a side surface of the sealing element, this side surface running essentially perpendicular to the direction of compression. Furthermore, the holding means has at least one fixing means, by means of which it can be fixed at least temporarily on the wall element, the holding means being fixable on the wall element by means of a locking means in the form of a clamping element.
- a corresponding sealing tape is already attached to the wall element at the factory, but that this cannot yet expand, but is prevented from doing so by the holding means.
- This holding means can only be released at or during assembly at the construction site and thus expand the sealing tape in order to be able to fulfill its function.
- the function of the sealing element is in particular to press the holding means against a further element and, for example, against a further holding means (of a further wall element) through its expansion and thus to achieve the sealing effect.
- the sealing element can thus also be referred to as a pushing element, which pushes the holding means against a further holding means in the assembled state of the wall.
- the term holding means refers to the state before the wall is assembled. In this state, the holding means performs a retaining function with respect to the sealing means. When the wall is in an assembled state, the holding means then functions as a sealing means, in particular in connection with a further holding means.
- the holding means is pressed against a further holding means.
- the holding means it is also possible for the holding means to be pressed against another element.
- the sealing system described here is also suitable and intended to achieve a seal against any other surface.
- a composite of two wall elements therefore preferably has two sealing means and two holding means, with these two holding means being pressed against one another by the sealing means when the wall elements are in an assembled state. It is therefore pointed out that the sealant does not have to directly effect a seal and preferably also does not directly effect a seal.
- the sealing means is used to generate a pressure on a further element, namely the holding means, which is advantageous for the sealing effect.
- the holding means is designed to be elastic.
- the first fixing means is also releasable and, in particular, releasable from said wall element.
- the compressed sealing tape consists of a flexible foam and in particular an impregnated flexible foam or has one.
- the impregnation can delay the recovery of the flexible foam by eliminating stress.
- the (or generally at least one and in particular the first or the second) fixing means can have rear engagement elements which engage behind certain areas of the wall element and thus hold it firmly.
- the fixing means can be a hooking means. This can advantageously be solved and / or loosened.
- the sealing element is designed as an elongated sealing strip which extends in a predetermined direction of extent, the direction of compression preferably running perpendicular to this direction of extent.
- This sealing element is advantageously compressible and / or deformable in several directions and in particular in several mutually perpendicular directions. For example, during the production of the wall element, this sealing tape can be pressed into a groove and then also pressed together in a direction perpendicular thereto in order to be held in this state by the holding means.
- the sealing means has an adhesive surface with which it can be glued into the groove.
- an adhesive and in particular a double-sided adhesive tape could be arranged on the flexible foam of the sealant.
- the sealant is advantageously evenly impregnated.
- the invention therefore proposes using known sealing materials for sealing wall elements and combining, for example, the advantages of these known sealing materials for common profiles (such as EPDM, silicone, TPE (thermoplastic elastomers) or the like) with those of compressed sealing tapes .
- the system thus has a combination of a sealing profile - such as made of EPDM - with a compressed sealing tape made of soft foam.
- the sealing tape (referred to here as sealing means) has the task of generating the contact pressure of the sealing profile (i.e. the holding means) and supporting it. The expansion of the sealing tape should then ideally be started by triggering from a point accessible after the element has been installed.
- the holding means therefore also performs a sealing function. This can be done, for example, in that this holding means against a further opposing holding means, which is arranged on the further wall element is pressed. As mentioned above, the holding means can also be pressed against other elements, in particular other (sealing) surfaces.
- the holding means is preferably made from EPDM.
- the sealing tape is preferably inserted into a groove.
- This joint preferably has a groove width which is between 5mm and 50mm, preferably between 5mm and 30mm, preferably between 10mm and 30mm.
- the groove preferably has a height which is greater than 2 mm, preferably greater than 3 mm and particularly preferably greater than 5 mm.
- the groove preferably has a height that is less than 50 mm, preferably less than 40 mm, preferably less than 30 mm and particularly preferably less than 20 mm.
- the system according to the invention described in this way should also be suitable for special element connectors such as swords.
- relative movements between the wall elements should also be possible.
- the holding means preferably rests with one surface on the sealing means.
- a further surface opposite this surface is designed as a sealing surface and in particular is intended to rest with this sealing surface on a further sealing surface (of a further holding means).
- this further surface has a coating and in particular a sliding coating.
- joint seals and in particular the vertical joint seals between the individual wall elements can be "released” after installation.
- fuse strips are pulled out upwards.
- Horizontal (joint) seals can also be triggered differently. So this is, for example, directly after setting the element by pulling out a fuse strip from the side or before Mounting of the element possible.
- the securing profile (which can be designed in the manner of a bar, but does not have to) is removed upwards or is so flexible that it can be pulled away laterally over or behind the adjacent element.
- the first fixing means has an enlarged section which can be clamped into a groove provided in the wall element.
- This enlarged section can be, for example, a head or a welt or the like. By clamping this projection, a tension can be produced which, for example, retains the sealing element in its groove.
- the connection between this enlarged section and said wall element can advantageously be detachable.
- the first fixing means is advantageously arranged at the end of the holding means.
- the holding means has a second fixing means, which can also be fixed on the wall element.
- This second fixing means is advantageously also arranged at the end of the holding means. It is possible here for a fixing means to be permanently attached to the wall element, since in the installed state the holding means should also act as a sealing element when it rests on another holding means or, as mentioned above, on another element.
- the contact area of the holding means is arranged between the first fixing means and the second fixing means.
- a surface which lies opposite this contact area also serves as a sealing surface and is in particular applied to a further corresponding surface of a further holding means (or another element).
- the sealing system furthermore has a solvent that can be fastened to a wall element and detached from the wall element, a detachment of this solvent also causing at least one-sided detachment of the holding means from the wall element.
- This release element can be, for example, a securing profile which can be pulled out or pushed out in order to remove a jamming of the fixing means and in particular an (enlarged) projection of the fixing means
- the present invention is further directed to a sealable wall element.
- This wall element has a first elongated groove in which a sealing means is inserted, this sealing means being compressible in at least one direction of compression, and a holding means which can be placed and in particular tensioned over an open side of the groove, in such a way that the Holding means prevents expansion of the sealant arranged in the groove.
- At least one section of the holding means is opposite releasably fixed to the wall element.
- precisely one section of the holding means and in particular one end section is releasably fixed with respect to the wall element.
- the wall element has at least one locking means in the form of a clamping element in order to fix the holding means on the wall element.
- a locking groove formed by a clamping element can be provided into which an end section of the holding means can be inserted.
- this locking means can be reset.
- this locking means can be designed to be resilient, compressible and / or deformable. It is thus possible that a solvent also urges the locking means in a certain direction, and thus the fixing means is fastened. As soon as this solvent is removed, the locking means can swing back and thus release the fixing means.
- the wall element has a second locking means which is opposite the first.
- This can be a wall section, for example, a groove preferably being formed by the clamping element and the wall section.
- the groove for the sealing means is advantageously arranged between these two locking means.
- Said grooves and / or locking means are particularly preferably elongated and extend in particular in the direction of the longitudinal or transverse axes of the respective wall element.
- the holding means can be designed as described above.
- the fixing means are preferably designed as hooks and / or so-called piping.
- the sealant is a foam element and in particular an impregnated foam.
- the wall profile is advantageously made of aluminum.
- the wall element could also consist of other materials, such as, in particular, but not exclusively of steel or plastic.
- the sealing system described here can basically be used on all profiles.
- This infill can have a material which is selected from a group of materials which includes glass, stone, sheet metal, insulation, terracotta and the like.
- the present invention is further directed to a wall which has a plurality of the sealable wall elements described above. These wall elements are advantageously in direct contact with one another and preferably with their longitudinal or transverse edges in contact with one another.
- Figure 1 shows an illustration of a structure of a wall 10, which is composed of a plurality of wall elements 12.
- the reference numeral 28 denotes a carrier for carrying the wall elements 12.
- the wall here consists of a plurality of prefabricated elements, ie here the wall elements 12. Between these prefabricated or wall elements 12 there are vertical and horizontal seals, which are still in the prior art had to be assembled on site.
- this represents both a disadvantage and a potential for error, for example with regard to environmental influences, and also leads to an increased expenditure of time.
- the task arose of achieving a high degree of prefabrication for the sealing system as well and, if possible, also to provide further finished elements on a construction site.
- the sealing system should be triggered after the element has been installed. In this way, a minimization of errors in the critical components of the element facade, ie the seal, should be achieved through an assembly-friendly solution.
- Figure 2 illustrates the assembly of a plurality of wall elements 12, each of which has edge-side seals.
- the reference number 2 denotes an expandable sealing element or the holding means 4, under which this sealing element 2 is arranged.
- the sealing system described here allows the vertical joint seals between the individual wall elements to be "released” after installation. For this purpose - as described in more detail below - fuse strips can be pulled out.
- Figure 3 14 shows a detailed representation of the sealing system 1 including two wall elements 12 lying next to one another.
- Reference numeral 14a denotes an open side of this groove. Above this open side 14a or above this sealing means there is a holding means 4 which, by means of a contact area 42, rests against the sealing means and holds it back in the state before assembly.
- the reference numeral 46 identifies a second fixing means of the holding means, which (permanently) rests in a groove 16 of the wall element 12.
- the reference symbol Z denotes the direction of compression in which the sealant 2 can expand
- fixing means (not shown) can be released, the holding means can be released and - as shown by the dashed line - the sealing means 2 or the sealing means 2 can expand in the direction Z and two press opposing holding means 4 against one another. In this way, a tight bond between the two holding means 4 or their contact surfaces 48 is produced.
- the distance between two adjacent wall elements 12 is approx. 5-100mm here.
- the holding means 4 then bring about the sealing effect in the mutually abutting state or in the state pressed against one another.
- the fixing means 46 (also referred to as a sealing foot) remains permanently in the groove 16 of the wall element 12.
- the fixing means 46 is releasably fastened in the associated groove 16.
- the sealing profile or retaining means spans a pre-compressed joint sealing tape.
- This joint sealing tape can be a soft foam element, which can be both impregnated and not impregnated.
- Fig. 4 shows a sealing system in which 2 is the sealant.
- This locking and release mechanism can for example consist of plastic or aluminum or a combination of these materials. It is also possible for this mechanism to be partially molded onto the wall elements. In addition, it would also be possible to attach this mechanism and in particular its base body as an additional profile or in the wall profile (for example by clipping in, screwing or rolling in, or the like).
- the reference number 52 denotes a release element which can also be pushed into the wall element 12 or the longitudinal groove. In the pre-assembly state, this solvent causes the fixing means 44 of the holding means 4 to be jammed.
- This solvent which can be designed as a safety strip, for example, must be easy to pull out of the mechanism over several meters.
- This solvent therefore advantageously consists of a material which is selected from a group of materials which contains plastic or anodized aluminum.
- Such a holding means which also acts as a sealing profile, is preferably arranged on the two opposing profiles of the wall element 12.
- the joint sealing tape or the sealing means lies in a groove which, for example, can have a width between 30mm and 40mm and a height between 10mm and 20mm. These dimensions of the groove for the sealant or sealing tape are dependent on the respective joint geometry but also on the requirements and the facade profiles.
- the groove is preferably dimensioned as small as possible, taking these framework conditions into account.
- the Figures 5a-5g show several representations of the possible releasable jamming of the fixing means 44 in a groove 18 of the wall element 12 assigned to it To release hold of the fixing agent from the wall element wall element.
- a resettable clamping element 56 is used in the situation shown in FIG Figure 5a shown pressed against the fixing means so that it cannot escape from its groove 18.
- this clamping element 56 can swing to the right and thus release the fixing means.
- This solvent can be pressed in in the Z direction for the first fixation.
- the grooves or recesses 18 and 54 thus result as gaps between the clamping element and the adjacent profile walls.
- Figure 5b shows a further possible embodiment in which, by removing the release element 52 from the recess 54, the clamping effect for the fixing means 44 can also be canceled and this can be released.
- the Figures 5e to 5g show three representations to illustrate the fastening and detachment of the fixing means 44, since the clamping element is pushed to the left and in this way the fixing means 44 is clamped in the groove 18. If - as in the Figure 5g shown - the release element 52 along the extension or longitudinal direction E (the groove 54 is pulled out, the clamping means 56 can swing to the right again and in this way the holding means 4, more precisely its fixing means 44 is released.
- a combination of a classic sealing material with a pre-compressed sealing tape results in an improved sealing effect through a contact pressure on a Sealing profile reached.
- This sealing profile creates an "architect-friendly look” and shields the sealing tape from UV radiation and also forms a waterproof layer.
- the locking and release mechanism is stretched over the sealant with a clamped-in sealing profile.
