Definitions

  • the invention relates to an assembly tool that can be used when assembling a protective net in a Velcro or mushroom head strap that is intended to hold the protective net on a window frame or other building structure around an opening to be protected, and for this purpose has a rubbing head with several parallel webs.
  • the invention also relates in particular to an assembly set which, in addition to a protective net and a suitable Velcro or mushroom head strap, also includes such an assembly tool, and a method for its use when assembling the protective net in the Velcro or mushroom head strap.
  • insect protection devices comprise a self-adhesive Velcro or mushroom head tape and a protective net that is permeable to light and air.
  • the protective net is typically intended to cover a window in order to protect it from the ingress of insects or pollen and other suspended particles, etc.
  • the Velcro or mushroom head tape has a large number of hooking elements which extend from a carrier tape. It is usually completely or partially attached to an inner fold of a window frame, and the protective net is "velcroed" into it. With this type of assembly, known as “velcro", a large number of interlocking elements first penetrate the safety net in order to then hold it with their interlocking geometries (such as mushroom heads or Velcro hooks).
  • rubbing brushes also referred to as rubbing brushes, pressure brushes, or in English: mounting brush or applicator
  • rubbing brushes made of plastic are known from the prior art are designed as one-piece assembly aids and the velcro fastening of protective nets
  • the document JP2017160719A is considered to be the closest prior art and discloses an auxiliary assembly tool for assembling a protective net with a plurality of mesh openings in a Velcro or mushroom head strap with a plurality of hooking elements which extend from a carrier band, each hooking element having a hooking geometry at its free end, which can engage in the mesh openings of the safety net in a fastening manner, the auxiliary assembly tool comprising a handle and at least one rubbing head, the respective rubbing head having a base plate connected to the handle and a plurality of projections, the base plate having a first main surface facing the safety net and a second main surface on the back, terminating at a free-standing front edge of the base plate, and the projections extending away from the first main surface in the heightwise direction thereof.
  • Known rubbing brushes have a straight, elongated handle connected at its distal end to a flat-shaped rectangular base.
  • a plurality of webs or semicircular disks oriented parallel to one another along the underside extend downwards from the underside of the base.
  • These ridges or discs typically all have the same shape, thickness, spacing from one another, and a longitudinal direction that is generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the handle when viewed from above the base.
  • the distances and the cross-section of the webs are dimensioned so that they can push the protective net under the engaging part of the mushroom heads or the Velcro hooks so that the mesh openings of the net can hook into the hooking geometries defined by the mushroom heads or Velcro hooks.
  • the protective net When used, the protective net is placed over the Velcro or mushroom head tape glued to the inside rabbet of a window frame and the rub-on brush is pulled in the longitudinal direction of the webs, in line with the longitudinal direction of the Velcro or mushroom head tape, over the protective net with the Velcro or mushroom head tape underneath.
  • the threads of the safety net are forced between the hooking elements of the Velcro or mushroom head strap and under one level of their hooking geometries, and the threads of the safety net hook into it as a result.
  • the so-called intervention height which is measured between a lower edge of the mushroom heads and the carrier strap, must be greater than the thickness a compressed protection network;
  • the mushroom caps must fit through the mesh openings of the protective net.
  • the object of the invention is to provide an easy-to-handle assembly aid that enables reliable assembly of a protective net with a large number of mesh openings in a Velcro or mushroom head strap with a large number of hooking elements. It is in particular an object of the invention to specify an auxiliary assembly tool and a method that enable a reliable assembly of a protective net in a Velcro or mushroom head strap even in confined spaces, for example in corners.
  • the present invention relates to an assembly tool for assembling a safety net having a plurality of mesh openings into a hook and loop or mushroom head tape having a backing tape and a plurality of hooking elements extending from the backing tape.
  • each hooking element has a hooking geometry at its free end, such as a Velcro hook or a mushroom head, which can engage in mesh openings of the safety net in a fastening manner.
  • the auxiliary assembly tool can also be referred to as a rubbing tool or as a rubbing brush. It includes a handle connected to at least one rubbing head. Depending on the embodiment, the handle can carry a single rubbing head, for example. However, it is also possible, for example, to provide two similarly or differently designed rubbing heads at different ends of the handle in order to enable different positioning or application options for the tool.
  • Each broach head includes a base plate connected to the handle and a plurality of linear ridges extending from the base plate.
  • the base plate has a first main surface (i.e. the underside) facing the protective net and a second main surface on the back (i.e. the top side). Both main areas end, among other things, at a free-standing, i. H. front edge of the base plate that does not directly merge into the handle.
  • the webs have a longitudinal direction in which they extend parallel to one another along the first main surface of the base plate at a predetermined distance from one another.
  • the ridges also have a height direction in which they extend away from the first major surface, i. H. usually perpendicular, extend.
  • the parallel webs protrude in their longitudinal direction by a predetermined excess length beyond the front edge of the base plate, so that their corresponding forward protruding ends are visible in the top view of the second main surface of the base plate, i.e. are virtually exposed.
  • the bars of the rubbing head at the corners or other narrow places of a frame can be pressed against the protective net with the comparatively narrow front edge of the base plate (i.e. in its transverse position) instead of with the first main surface of the base plate (i.e. in its parallel position).
  • the front edge of the base plate can in particular be designed to be essentially rectilinear and extend approximately perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the webs. This can be advantageous both for the manufacture and for the use of the tool, for example in order to achieve a uniform arrangement and effect of the webs along the entire front edge.
  • the base plate can be designed essentially rectangular in plan view on its second main surface by having an opposite rear edge approximately parallel to the front edge and two opposite parallel side edges connecting the front edge to the rear edge, between which the first main surface is located and extend the second main surface.
  • the webs can be aligned with their longitudinal direction parallel to the side edges of the base plate and particularly advantageously extend from the rear edge to the front edge and beyond, which means that on the one hand the entire first main surface is fully utilized and on the other hand a uniform effect of the webs over whose width and length is achievable.
  • the first main surface and/or the second main surface of the base plate is flat or essentially (i.e. apart from slight deviations from the planar geometry in terms of area and height, which is necessary for any markings or fasteners, etc. are required during manufacture or application) are planar.
  • this can be particularly material-saving and enable a uniform effect of the webs over the entire first main surface of the base plate in its above-mentioned parallel position.
  • the handle can be elongate and have at least one straight longitudinal section extending from its free end, which in a projection onto a plane perpendicular to the plane of the base plate in is at an obtuse angle to the first major surface of the base plate.
  • This obtuse angle can be in a range between 140° and 175°, for example.
  • the handle is elongate and has at least one straight handle longitudinal section which, in a projection onto a base plate plane, extends essentially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the webs.
  • this can be that longitudinal section of the handle that extends directly from the base plate.
  • the base plate can, for example, as described above, be designed to be essentially rectangular in plan view, with the handle being connected to its rear edge. If the first main surface of the base plate is designed to be essentially flat, then the base plate plane is spanned by this surface.
  • the elongate handle has at least one straight lengthwise section of the handle, which extends essentially perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the webs in a projection onto the plane of the base plate mentioned.
  • longitudinal section of the handle that extends directly from the base plate.
  • the base plate can, for example, as described above, be designed to be essentially rectangular in plan view, with the handle being connected to one of its side edges.
  • the elongate handle has at least one straight lengthwise section of the handle, which encloses an obtuse angle with the straight webs in a projection onto the said base plate plane.
  • This obtuse angle can be in a range between 135° and 175°, for example.
  • the base plate can, for example, as described above, be designed to be essentially rectangular in plan view, with the handle being connected to its rear edge. The advantage of this configuration is that two of the four corners of the window frame can be reached particularly easily by the rubbing head.
  • the tool can, for example, be mirrored at its free-standing handle end and then has two rubbing heads which are arranged at its opposite ends in the manner just described.
  • the elongate handle has at least two different straight handle lengthwise sections which, in a projection onto a base plate plane and/or in a projection onto a plane extending from the longitudinal - Is spanned and height direction of the webs form an obtuse angle to each other.
  • Free undersides of the webs facing away from the first main surface can essentially run in a straight line and parallel to the first main surface of the base plate.
  • the recesses and/or wavy elevations of individual webs or of uniformly formed web blocks, which comprise a plurality of webs can be offset in relation to one another in the longitudinal direction. This can be advantageous in particular because hooking elements on the carrier tapes are often arranged in rows offset from one another.
  • the auxiliary assembly tool can in particular be designed in one piece, for example by injection molding from a suitable thermoplastic material. As a result, the tool can be particularly simple to manufacture and/or robust to use.
  • the tool can be made, for example, from POM (polyoxymethylene), PEEK (polyetheretherketone), ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer), PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene) or a metal alloy.
  • the entire tool or at least its rubbing head or at least its webs is made of a material which has a higher abrasion resistance than the material of the hooking elements of the mushroom head or Velcro tape, such as. B. POM, PEEK or a metal alloy. In this way, rapid wear of the tool during use can be prevented.
  • the auxiliary assembly tool can be removed more easily from a mold, for example during production by injection molding, and/or scratching or banging on the protective net or a window frame etc. by any sharp web or base plate edges can be avoided when the rubbing head is pulled along the protective net. If all edges, in particular those of the webs, are advantageously rounded, the tool will not get caught anywhere when it is used as intended, and the webs can slide along like ice skates or runners.
  • Suitable application instructions e.g. B. directional arrows may be provided to indicate the direction in which the rubbing head is to be guided during use.
  • the present invention further also relates to an assembly kit which firstly comprises a protective net with a plurality of mesh openings. Second, it comprises a hook and loop or mushroom head tape having a backing tape and a plurality of hooking elements extending from the backing tape, each hooking element at its free end having a Possesses hooking geometry that can engage in mesh openings of the safety net in a fastening manner. Third, the assembly kit includes an auxiliary assembly tool of the type set forth herein that is configured to assemble the safety net into the hook and loop or mushroom head strap.
  • a protective net is understood to mean net-like fabrics that are intended to close an opening sufficiently to prevent unwanted substances such as airborne dust (pollen, fine dust, etc.), aerosol particles or leaves, and/or animals such as arthropods (insects, spiders, etc.) and rodents (mice, rats, etc.) from entering a building or other room through this opening.
  • the protective net can be designed, for example, in a manner known per se as a knitted fabric made of polyester, plastic-coated fiberglass fibers or wire. If the protective net consists of textile materials, it can be suitably equipped, for example chemically, thermally and/or mechanically, against wear and tear or stress.
  • the mesh openings can be tetragonal, for example, but also have other, mostly polygonal, shapes.
  • the Velcro or mushroom head tape can be present, for example, in unwindable form and include a band-shaped, elongated carrier strip z. B. can be about 6 meters long and about 9 millimeters wide.
  • the underside of the carrier strip can in particular be provided with an adhesive or self-adhesive layer, while the opposite upper side carries a large number of hooking elements.
  • Each of these hooking elements has a stem that protrudes from the carrier and a hooking geometry arranged at the free end of the stem, e.g. B. in the form of a mushroom head or a Velcro hook.
  • Interlocking elements can be arranged in particular in staggered rows one behind the other in the longitudinal direction on the carrier.
  • the height of the hooking elements can be between about 1 mm and about 3 mm, for example.
  • a characteristic variable is the height, referred to herein as the engagement height, between the carrier and a bottom edge of the hooking geometry.
  • the predetermined excess length by which the webs protrude in their longitudinal direction beyond the front edge of the base plate can be at least the said engagement height of the hooking elements, preferably a maximum of 10 times this engagement height preferably a maximum of 5 times this engagement height.
  • the same can also apply to a predetermined height of the webs by which they extend away from the first main surface. This can favor the assembly process.
  • the predetermined distance between the parallel webs can correspond approximately to a distance between the interlocking elements in the transverse direction of the carrier tape or to a multiple thereof. Furthermore, a predetermined thickness of the webs transverse to their longitudinal and vertical direction can be less than a distance between the interlocking elements in the transverse direction of the carrier tape and/or at least not significantly thicker than the interlocking elements. This too can contribute to an efficient assembling operation.
  • the present invention also relates to a method for installing a safety net in a Velcro or mushroom head strap using an installation set of the type set out herein.
  • the safety net is placed over the Velcro or mushroom head strap and the installation tool is then pulled with its rubbing head lengthwise and/or or vertical direction of its webs, ideally corresponding to a longitudinal direction of the Velcro or mushroom head tape, pulled over the protective net and the underlying Velcro or mushroom head tape, whereby threads that form the protective net between the hooking elements of the Velcro or mushroom head tape and under the lower edges of them Interlocking geometries are forced and can get caught in these.
  • the rubbing head can be pressed against the protective net in its parallel position when mounting the protective net in the Velcro or mushroom head strap, in which the first main surface of the base plate is aligned parallel to the protective net, so that the webs with their free undersides facing away from the first main surface slide in their longitudinal direction on the protective net, or are pressed against the protective net in its transverse position, in which the base plate is aligned with its front edge to the protective net, so that the webs with their over the front edge of the Slide base plate protruding exposed ends in the height direction on the safety net.
  • FIG 1A shows a schematic, perspective representation of an auxiliary assembly tool 1 according to an embodiment of the invention, which in this example is particularly suitable for assembling a protective net with a large number of mesh openings on a building window by velcroing the protective net into a self-adhesive Velcro or mushroom-head tape as described above, wherein the Velcro or mushroom head tape can be glued all the way around in an inner fold of a rectangular window frame.
  • the tool 1 which can also be referred to as a rubbing brush or a rubbing brush, is in this example made in one piece and comprises a rubbing head 2 from which an elongate handle 3 extends. When used as intended, the tool 1 can be held comfortably with the fingers of one hand on its handle 3 .
  • the tool 1 can, for example, by injection molding from a suitable thermoplastic material, such as for example POM (polyoxymethylene) or PEEK (polyetheretherketone) or a metal alloy.
  • the rubbing head 2 comprises a base plate 4 connected to the handle 3 and, purely by way of example in this example, seven straight webs 5 which extend from the base plate 4 in Figure 1A extend downward in its height direction.
  • the base plate 4 has a first main surface 6 (i.e. the underside) to face the safety net during intended use and a second main surface 7 on the back (ie the top side).
  • the base plate 4 is designed as a flat plate of approximately rectangular shape and has a rear edge 8, from which the handle 3 extends, an opposite front edge 9, which is approximately parallel to the rear edge 8, and two opposite ones, the front edge 9 with the Rear edge 8 connecting parallel side edges 10 and 11 forming the four edges of the rectangular base plate 4, between which its first, underside major surface 6 and its second, topside major surface 7 extend.
  • the webs 5 are aligned parallel to the side edges 10 and 11 of the base plate 4 with their longitudinal direction L, which in this example is marked on the second main surface 7 by a double arrow. All webs 5 extend in their longitudinal direction L along the first main surface 6 of the base plate 4 parallel to one another at the same predetermined distance from one another, which is ideally dimensioned such that it corresponds to the distances between the hooking elements of the Velcro or mushroom head strap in its transverse direction or a multiple of which amounts to. Likewise, the thickness of the webs 5, which is measured in the direction parallel to the front edge 9, is suitably dimensioned such that the webs 5 with this thickness fit between the hooking elements or are at least not significantly thicker than these.
  • the vertical direction of the webs 5, in which they extend away from the first main surface 6, is suitably perpendicular to the first main surface 6.
  • the thickness of the webs 5 can taper in their height direction away from the first main surface 6, for example uniformly.
  • Such a tapering of the webs 5 towards their lower tips can be beneficial for the above-mentioned reasons for velcroing the protective net with, for example, particularly narrow mesh openings in the velcro or mushroom head tape.
  • the parallel webs 5 protrude in their longitudinal direction L by a predetermined excess length beyond the front edge 9 of the base plate 4, so that their corresponding ends 12 protruding forward are also visible in the plan view of the second main surface 7 of the base plate 4, i.e almost exposed. Thanks to this configuration of the tool 1, it is thus possible to reliably rub the protective net into corners of a door or window rebate that are otherwise difficult to reach.
  • the rubbing head 2 of the tool 1 can be pressed against the safety net in a parallel position, in which the first main surface 6 of the base plate 4 is aligned parallel to the protective net, so that the webs 5 slide with their free undersides 14 facing away from the first main surface 6 in their longitudinal direction L on the protective net, or are pressed against the protective net in a transverse position in which the base plate 4 is aligned with its front edge 9 to the safety net, so that the webs 5 slide with their exposed ends 12 protruding beyond the front edge 9 of the base plate 4 in the height direction on the safety net.
  • the handle 3 is elongate and in this example consists of a single straight longitudinal section which, in a projection onto a plane perpendicular to the plane of the base plate, is at an obtuse angle to the first main surface 6 of the base plate 4 is.
  • This obtuse angle is in Figure 1A about 155 degrees.
  • Figure 1B shows the auxiliary assembly tool 1 of Figure 1B from a different perspective (obliquely from below), which offers a better view of its bridges 5.
  • Figure 1B It is particularly easy to see that the free undersides 14 of the webs 5 facing away from the first main surface 6 have recesses 15 in certain areas, which are suitably dimensioned such that the hooking elements that may have been flattened by the webs 5 and thus could not penetrate the mesh openings of the protective net can rise up again and get another chance to hook.
  • the recesses 15 of individual webs 5 or web blocks, which comprise a plurality of webs 5, are offset in relation to one another in the longitudinal direction L. This can be advantageous in particular because hooking elements on the carrier tapes are often arranged in rows offset from one another.
