Definitions
- the present invention relates to a kit for a frame, and in particular to a kit for a frame of an (insect) screen.
- an (insect, pollen, and/or sun) screen is attached to such a screen frame, spanning the opening defined by the frame.
- the screen can then be mounted on a frame (in particular a window or door frame) of a building opening (in particular a window or door).
- kits for a frame of an insect screen comprising four frame assemblies, each frame assembly having an inner profile strip and an outer profile strip, which are connected to one another via a corner connector comprising a pivot axis.
- the inner profile strips and the outer profile strips of the four frame assemblies are each aligned parallel to one another.
- the end user must unfold the frame assemblies thus delivered around the pivot axis of the corner connector, so that the inner profile strip and the outer profile strip are arranged at a 90° angle to one another.
- the end user must then align the profile strips of the frame groups with one another and push them into one another to form the frame, wherein the inner profile strip of one frame assembly corresponds to the outer profile strip of an adjacent
- the frame assembly is telescopic. This allows the frame to be easily adapted to windows of different sizes.
- a frame consisting of four frame assemblies is also US 4,279,288 A Although such kits significantly simplify assembly for the end user, the presence of four frame assemblies requires the assembly of a large number of frame assemblies.
- EP 3 835 539 A1 also a kit consisting of exactly two frame assemblies, each of which can be positioned at a right angle for assembly.
- these frame assemblies feature a plug-in connection at the free ends near the corner connectors. Therefore, different corner connector components are required at the free ends of these frame assemblies than those required to form a pivot joint within a frame assembly. Therefore, providing such a kit with exactly two frame assemblies requires a larger number of different components.
- EP 3 690 177 A1 and EP 3 910 155 A1 A solution is known for how a hinged corner connector can be protected from accidental folding back in its opened position.
- EP 3 690 177 A1 a separate fixing element which can be inserted into both connecting legs of a corner connector in the unfolded assembly position.
- EP 3 910 155 A1 suggests that the corner connector has a clamping design onto which an attachment device can be clipped.
- the fixing element which can be designed as a suspension element, is itself secured against unintentional release.
- the object of the present invention is therefore to eliminate the disadvantages described with reference to the prior art and, in particular, to provide a kit which is even easier for an end user to assemble.
- kits having the features of claim 1.
- Advantageous developments of the kit are specified in the dependent claims and in the description, wherein individual features of the description and the dependent claims can be combined with one another in a technically expedient manner.
- kits for a frame and in particular by a kit for a frame of an insect screen.
- the kit comprises a first pre-assembled frame assembly and a second pre-assembled frame assembly.
- Each of the two frame assemblies comprises a first free profile strip, a second free profile strip, and a connecting device comprising at least one further profile strip.
- the first free profile strip is connected to the connecting device at a first end of the connecting device via a first pivot joint having a pivot axis.
- the second free profile strip is connected to the connecting device at a second end of the connecting device via a second pivot joint having a pivot axis.
- each frame assembly is designed such that, in an initial position, the two free profile strips and the connecting device are aligned parallel to one another and that the free profile strips can be transferred into an assembly position in which the frame assembly is U-shaped by pivoting relative to the connecting device about the respective pivot axis. In the assembly position in which the two frame assemblies are U-shaped, the free profile strips of the first frame assembly and the free profile strips of the second frame assembly can be telescopically inserted into one another.
- the basic idea of the invention is that only exactly two modules (first pre-assembled frame module and second pre-assembled frame module) are made available to the end user for assembling the frame, which the end user can bring into a U-shaped position by unfolding the free profile strips, in which position the free profile strips of the two modules can be pushed into one another.
- the essentially parallel alignment of the free profile strip to the connecting device in the starting position ensures, on the one hand, that the kit can be made available to the end customer in a compact form in a container (packaging), while the end customer has less assembly work.
- the free profile strips are arranged essentially in a plane defined jointly with the connecting device in the assembly position, it is entirely possible that in the starting position the free profile strips are arranged orthogonally to the plane, offset from one another and directly next to one another, which is still understood as parallel.
- the at least one axis of rotation it would be conceivable for the at least one axis of rotation to be aligned in the plane spanned by the frame and approximately at a 45° angle to the direction of extension of the free profile strip.
- the axes of rotation of the pivot joints of both frame assemblies are aligned parallel to one another (when the frame is assembled) and orthogonal to a plane spanned by the frame.
- the free profile strips are arranged in the plane defined by the free profile strips and the connecting device in the assembly position, even during transfer from the starting position to the assembly position. In the latter embodiment, a particularly stable connection of the free profile strips to the connecting device in the assembly position is possible.
- the (free) profile strips are designed as inner profile strips or as outer profile strips, wherein in the assembled position, the inner profile strip of one frame assembly can be inserted into the outer profile strip of the other frame assembly.
- the free profile strips of the first frame assembly can be designed as inner profile strips and the free profile strips of the second frame assemblies to be designed as outer profile strips.
- the two frame assemblies each have an outer profile strip and an inner profile strip as free profile strips.
- the profile strips can be designed as tubes (with a circular or rectangular cross-section) that can be pushed into one another.
- the profile strips have at least one contour extending along their longitudinal extent, which allows the attachment of a seal and/or a protective grille.
- a A groove extending in the longitudinal direction of the profile strip can be provided for accommodating a (brush) seal.
- a contour projection or recess can be provided that extends along the longitudinal extent of the profile strip, to which an (insect) screen can be attached, if necessary using additional components (such as a fixing strip).
- the outer contour of the inner profile strip is matched to the inner contour of the outer profile strip so that they can be telescopically pushed into each other.
- the free profile strips of the frame assembly are arranged substantially parallel but offset to one another and to the connecting device in the initial position.
- the free profile strips of a frame assembly can be offset from one another orthogonally to the plane and arranged on the same side of the connecting device.
- the free profile strips are arranged in one plane in the assembly position, they can be arranged directly next to one another (orthogonally to the plane) in the initial position by means of slight bracing.
- the connecting device it is possible for the connecting device to be fixed in length.
- the frame could only be adjustable in size in one direction.
- the connecting device of a frame assembly comprises at least one inner profile strip and at least one outer profile strip.
- the frame is adjustable in size in its plane in two mutually orthogonal directions.
- the pivot joint containing the pivot axis it is possible for the pivot joint containing the pivot axis to be formed as a single piece with a profile strip.
- the pivot joint be formed by a separate component, namely a profile connector. is formed.
- the first profile strip and the second profile strip are each connected to the connecting device via a profile connector forming the pivot joint.
- a first connecting leg of a profile connector is inserted into a free profile strip and a second connecting leg of the profile connector, which can be pivoted about the axis of rotation relative to the first connecting leg, is inserted into a profile strip of the connecting device.
- the two frame assemblies are each secured in their assembled position by a fixing device.
- the frame assemblies can have locking mechanisms in the area of the swivel joint that interlock in the assembled position, thus preventing accidental pivoting back.
- the fixing can be realized by a separate fixing element that secures the swivel joint in its unfolded position against unintentional pivoting back.
- the kit include packaging (e.g., a cardboard box) in which the two frame assemblies are arranged in their initial position.
- packaging e.g., a cardboard box
- other components of the kit such as fixing elements, suspension elements, and/or insect screens, can be arranged in the packaging.
- the profile connector for a frame and in particular for a frame assembly of the previously described kit.
- the profile connector comprises at least one first connecting leg, which can in particular be inserted into a profile strip, and a second connecting leg, which can in particular be inserted into a profile strip.
- the profile connector also comprises a pivot joint having at least one axis of rotation between the first connecting leg and the second connecting leg, which is designed such that the first connecting leg and the second connecting leg can be transferred from an initial position by a relative pivoting movement about the at least one axis of rotation into an assembly position in which the first connecting leg and the second connecting leg are arranged in a plane at a right angle to one another.
- a first aspect relating to the profile connector provides that the profile connector comprises a functional element (such as a suspension element), wherein at least the first connecting leg has a receptacle for the functional element and the receptacle is arranged such that the functional element can be inserted into the receptacle in the starting position and that the functional element inserted into the receptacle is secured against removal from the receptacle in the assembly position by the second connecting leg.
- a functional element such as a suspension element
- a further aspect relating to the profile connector provides that at least one connecting leg has a terminal receptacle for receiving one end of a seal, wherein the terminal receptacle extends into the plane.
- the profile connector comprises, in particular, a connecting leg that can be at least partially inserted into a previously described profile strip, in particular in a force-fitting manner.
- the outer profile of the section of the connecting leg that can be inserted into the profile strip is thus adapted to the inner profile of the corresponding profile strip.
- the profile connector has at least one axis of rotation for forming the pivot joint. If the movement of the connecting legs from the initial position to the assembly position occurs in the plane defined by the assembly position, preferably exactly one axis of rotation is formed.
- the profile connector has exactly two connecting legs that can be brought into a right angle to each other, it is also referred to as a corner connector.
- the profile connector can also have three connecting legs, in which case each connecting leg is arranged at a right angle to at least one other connecting leg in the installed position.
- Such a profile connector can be used, for example, to form a frame for an insect screen door.
- the at least one connecting leg has in particular a receiving groove for a seal, which in the assembled state (i.e. in a state inserted into a profile strip) fits into a corresponding groove formed in the profile strip so that the seal can be guided continuously from the profile strip into the profile connector.
- the end receptacle can be formed on a side of a connecting leg that can be regarded as the end face, at least in the starting position, and preferably adjoins the receiving groove.
- the end receptacle is thus designed such that one end of the seal can be inserted into the end receptacle, wherein the end of the seal, when inserted into the end receptacle, is aligned approximately at a right angle to the section of the seal arranged outside the end receptacle.
- the end receptacle therefore has an opening, in particular on the surface of the connecting leg facing the window frame in the installed state, through which opening the end of the seal can be inserted into the end receptacle.
- the end receptacle is arranged in particular on the associated connecting leg such that the end receptacle is accessible from the corresponding end face in the starting position and is covered by the other connecting leg in the installed position, wherein the other connecting leg in particular can have a locking element with which the end of the seal is fixed in the end receptacle in the installed position.
- the end receptacle has a front opening through which a locking element of the other connecting leg (e.g., a projection on the other connecting leg) extends in the assembled position.
- the end receptacle can thus be designed as a type of groove in the front of the connecting leg.
- the holder for the functional element is arranged so that the functional element can be inserted into the holder in the starting position
- the receptacle is formed in the initial position on an accessible end face of the connecting leg, which end face is covered by the other connecting leg in the assembly position.
- the functional element which is inserted into the receptacle in the initial position, is secured by the other connecting leg in the assembly position.
- the functional element can, for example, be designed as a suspension element, which preferably has an insertion section that can be inserted into the receptacle, a connecting section arranged at right angles thereto and an overlapping section that engages behind the window frame (in the position of the frame installed on the window), which overlapping section is formed at right angles to the connecting section and parallel to the insertion section.
- the profile connector can be designed in such a way that the functional element is still movable even in the assembly position by allowing the functional element to be moved back and forth in the holder.
- a receptacle be formed in each connecting leg. The end user can thus decide which connecting leg the functional element should be inserted into, depending on the desired orientation of the frame in its installed position.
- the kit 3 for a frame shown comprises a first frame assembly 1 and a second frame assembly 2.
- the first frame assembly 1 comprises a first free profile strip 1.1, a second free profile strip 1.2 and a connecting device 1.3 formed from two profile strips 1.3a and 1.3b.
- the second frame assembly 2 comprises a first free profile strip 2.1, a second free profile strip 2.2, and a connecting device 2.3 formed from two profile strips 2.3a and 2.3b.
- the first free profile strips 1.1 and 2.1 are each connected to the connecting device 1.3, 2.3 via a first pivot joint 4.1 having a pivot axis 4.1a.
- the second profile strips 1.2 and 2.2 are each connected to the respective connecting device 1.3, 2.3 via a second pivot joint 4.2 having a pivot axis 4.2a.
- the frame spans a plane.
- the rotation axes 4.1a and 4.2a are aligned orthogonally to this plane.
- the free profile strips 1.1, 1.2, 2.1 and 2.2 can be removed from the Figure 1
- the frame assemblies 1, 2 can also be folded toward the connecting device 1.3 or 2.3, in which case all profile strips are aligned approximately parallel to one another. In this initial position, the frame assemblies 1, 2 can be easily and compactly stored in a single package.
- a profile connector 5 designed as a corner connector is shown, which is also used in the frame assemblies of the Figures 1 and 2 can be used.
- the profile connector 5 has a first connecting leg 5.1 and a second connecting leg 5.2, each of which can be inserted in sections into a profile strip.
- a pivot axis 4.1a is formed between the first connecting leg 5.1 and the second connecting leg 5.2, so that the connecting legs 5.1, 5.2 can be pivoted from an initial position, in which the connecting legs 5.1, 5.2 or the profile strips are aligned approximately parallel to one another, into an assembly position, in which the connecting legs 5.1, 5.2 or the profile strips are arranged at a right angle to one another.
- Figures 3 and 4 the connecting legs 5.1 and 5.2 are in an intermediate position between the initial position and the assembly position.
- the second connecting leg 5.2 has a receiving groove 9, which adjoins a receiving groove of the profile strip.
- the second connecting leg 5.2 has a terminal receptacle 10, which merges into the receiving groove 9.
- the terminal receptacle 10 thus adjoins the receiving groove 9. It is now possible to insert a seal, starting from the receiving groove of the profile connector, into the receiving groove 9 of the connecting leg 5.2, whereby one end of the seal can be inserted into the terminal receptacle 10. In the installed state, the end of the seal arranged in the terminal receptacle 10 is angled towards the section of the seal arranged in the receiving groove 9.
- the terminal receptacle 10 In the assembled position of the profile connector 5, the terminal receptacle 10 is not accessible, as it is covered by the first connecting leg 5.1. Rather, the first connecting leg 5.1 comprises a locking element 7 designed as a projection, which in the Figure 5 shown assembly position engages in the end receptacle 10 and thus fixes the end of the seal in the end receptacle 10.
- a functional element 6 designed as a suspension element can be inserted into a receptacle 8 in the first connecting leg 5.1 or into a receptacle 8 in the second connecting leg 5.2.
- the receptacle 8 is arranged at a front end of the connecting leg 5.1 or 5.2, so that the receptacles 8 are accessible in the initial position (or a slightly pivoted state) of the profile connector 5.
- the functional element 6 can be inserted into the receptacle 8 (see Figures 3 and 4 ).
- the end user can decide in which of the two receptacles 8 he wishes to mount the functional element 6.
