Definitions

  • the invention relates to a door or window arrangement with the features of the preamble of claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a building enclosure with the features of the dependent claim.
  • Door or window arrangements of the type mentioned above, with, for example, a sash opening outwards relative to the frame, are known from the prior art. See also DE 10 2013 110 832 A1 . Out of DE 20 2017 106040 U1 A relevant door or window arrangement is also known.
  • Such door or window arrangements have a step on the frame side of the lower frame cross member, against which the sash, with a sash overlap formed on the underside of the sash, seals tightly in the closed position. It is possible. Since the sash typically has lateral overlaps on the sides and an overlap on the top surface, allowing the sash to seal tightly against the frame when closed, a continuous seal between the sash and the frame is achieved (continuous sealing plane).
  • the threshold poses a tripping hazard or obstacle, especially for people with physical disabilities such as wheelchair users or seniors with walkers.
  • the invention aims to provide an improved door or window arrangement. It is desirable to improve accessibility and to ensure sufficient airtightness in a cost-effective manner.
  • the invention solves this problem by means of a door or window arrangement with the features of claim 1.
  • the door or window arrangement has a frame and a sash mounted on the frame and pivotable relative to the frame, preferably towards an outside, between an open position and a closed position (possibly an outward-opening sash or outward-opening door).
  • the sash features lateral overlaps, each with an overlap seal attached for sealing against the frame or vertical frame members (when the sash is closed).
  • the sash may also have a sash overlap on its upper side with an attached overlap seal for sealing against the frame or an upper frame cross member. On its underside, however, the sash is designed without an overlap (no sash overlap on the underside).
  • the frame has a lower frame cross member extending along a longitudinal direction, with a sill having a sill surface, in particular a tread surface, arranged on the lower frame cross member towards the outside.
  • a weather bar extending along a specific direction is arranged on the outer side, incorporating an elastic seal (also extending along this direction).
  • the seal's direction of extension is oriented along or parallel to the longitudinal axis. The seal projects downwards from the weather bar (along the direction of gravity) so that, when the sash is closed, it forms a seal against the sill surface.
  • Each end cap is attached to one or both ends of the weather bar.
  • Each end cap has a downward-projecting section (along the direction of gravity) with a contact surface for the threshold, by means of which the The lower section protrudes and rests sealingly on the sill surface when the wing is in the closed position.
  • Each end cap has a lateral section that overlaps the corresponding lateral sash overlap (sideways) and seals against the lateral sash overlap and its overlap seal.
  • the lateral section may have a through-hole for fastening it to the lateral sash overlap with a screw.
  • the through-hole may be chamfered or countersunk on the outside of the lateral section (weather side) to allow for sealing with the screw head, particularly a countersunk head.
  • a receptacle is formed on or in the end cap, in particular in a base section of the end cap, which has a cross-section complementary to the sealing of the weather bar and seals an end section of the seal.
  • the proposed design improves accessibility, particularly for outward-opening sashes relative to the frame (outward-opening doors), as it eliminates the need for a sash overlap on the underside and a corresponding stop that rises from the floor.
  • the end cap attached to the front of the weather bar seals the critical interfaces for sealing: the threshold surface, the overlap seal on the side of the sash, and...
  • the elastic seal in the weather bar is tightly connected to each other when the sash is closed. This ensures a sufficient seal on the underside of the sash. If there are side sash overlaps and a sash overlap on the top side, each with its own overlap seal, a continuous sealing surface between the sash and frame can be achieved.
  • the end cap can have a base section, particularly one that is essentially cuboid, in which the receptacle for the seal is formed and/or from which the lateral section of the end cap extends. This contributes to a comparatively stable design of the end cap, as the various sections of the end cap are connected by means of the base section.
  • a fastening section can extend from the base section, by means of which the end cap is attached to the (relevant) end face of the weather bar, preferably by means of a screw. This contributes to a stable attachment of the end cap to the weather bar.
  • the fastening section has a passage for a screw (fastening screw) to secure the fastening section to the weather bar.
  • the passage can be chamfered or countersunk on the outside of the fastening section (weather side) to seal against the screw head, in particular a countersunk head.
  • the fastening section On the inside of the fastening section (non-weather side), a groove is formed for the sealing reception of an end section of the weather bar.
  • the fastening section extends, in particular, transversely to the aforementioned direction of extension from the base section of the end cap.
  • a coupling section can extend from the base section along or parallel to the direction of extension, penetrating a corresponding pocket on the weather bar, the pocket being formed on a web of the weather bar that engages the underside of the wing. This stabilizes the coupling between the end cap and the weather bar and contributes to a good seal.
  • a groove extending along or parallel to the direction of extension can be formed on the web of the weather bar that engages the wing, for securing the weather bar seal.
  • the base section can have a contact surface on its upper surface (oriented upwards along the direction of gravity) by means of which the base section contacts the wing on its underside, or, in other words, is in contact with the underside of the wing. This achieves improved sealing and increased stability between the end cap and the wing.
  • the threshold can have a slope towards the outside, with the threshold contact surface of the downward-projecting section of the end cap being adapted to the slope of the threshold.
  • the threshold contact surface is adapted to the slope of the threshold in such a way that, when the sash is closed, the threshold contact surface rests uniformly and tightly on the threshold surface.
  • the outward slope of the threshold compensates for any height difference between a floor covering on the outside and the lower frame cross member or the highest point of the lower frame cross member. This improves accessibility. Furthermore, it provides a direction of water runoff should water reach the threshold surface.
  • the threshold contact surface of the downward-projecting section and the threshold surface can be oriented parallel to each other when the sash is closed.
  • the threshold can be designed separately from the lower frame cross member and be in contact with and/or connected to it.
  • the threshold can be positioned directly next to the frame cross member and be in contact with it, i.e., resting against it. This simplifies installation, as the threshold can be subsequently mounted to the lower frame cross member, for example, after the installation of flooring on the exterior. Furthermore, repairs are easier, since in the event of a repair, only the lower frame cross member needs to be removed. Only the threshold, and not the entire lower frame crossmember, needs to be replaced.
  • Adaptation to the surroundings of the door or window assembly is also possible, for example, by using thresholds of varying widths (the width here refers to the extent of the threshold in the direction of passage through the door or window assembly).
  • the width here refers to the extent of the threshold in the direction of passage through the door or window assembly.
  • the seal can be spaced at one or both of its end faces from the overlap seal of the relevant side wing overlap, with a section of the end cap, in particular the base section of the end cap, being arranged within this space.
  • the seal deliberately terminates at one or both end faces with a gap to the relevant overlap seal, thereby creating space for a section of the end cap.
  • the end cap can connect the various interfaces and perform its sealing function.
  • the end cap can be made in one piece and/or from elastic soft plastic. This contributes to a stable design and a sufficiently good sealing effect.
  • the building enclosure is designed and/or intended to separate the interior of a building from its surroundings (exterior or building exterior).
  • the building enclosure includes a door or window arrangement with one or more of the aspects described above.
  • the building enclosure has an interior floor covering (interior floor covering) adjacent to the lower frame cross member and an exterior floor covering (exterior floor covering) adjacent to the lower frame cross member and the sill.
  • the height difference (h) along the direction of gravity between the highest point of the sill and the lower frame cross member, relative to the interior and exterior floor coverings, is more than 0 mm and a maximum of 20 mm (0 ⁇ h ⁇ 20 mm), preferably more than 5 mm and a maximum of 15 mm (5 ⁇ h ⁇ 15 mm).
  • Figure 1 shows a section of a building enclosure, which is designated in its entirety by the reference symbol 100.
  • the building enclosure 100 is designed and intended to separate an interior building surface 102 from the exterior or surroundings 104 (building exterior).
  • the building termination 100 has a door or window arrangement 10, which in turn has a lower frame cross member 26 with a sill 28 arranged on it and which is described in more detail below.
