Definitions
- Screen in particular flat screen, and system comprising the screen
- the present invention relates to an umbrella, comprising an umbrella cover for protection against the effects of the weather, a support element with a central guide and a slider which is displaceably mounted on the central guide and which can be displaced from a first position to a second position, thereby transferring the umbrella from a closed state to an open state, a pivotable first spoke which is articulated to the support element and a first rod which is connected to the first spoke and the slider.
- flat umbrellas are understood to mean umbrellas in which the spokes are not arranged radially around a central support element, but in the stretched state form an umbrella surface on a longitudinal side of the support element.
- the present invention therefore aims to improve an umbrella of the type mentioned above so that it can be manufactured in a simple and cost-effective manner and has high stability and durability. Such an umbrella can thus be associated with high economic potential.
- the umbrella in the sense of the present invention is a flat umbrella in which the spokes and the umbrella cover are not arranged radially around the central support element, but span an umbrella surface on one longitudinal side of the support element.
- the umbrella has an umbrella cover.
- the umbrella cover can be any type of cover suitable for protection against the elements.
- reference refers to any flexible or dimensionally unstable element which, in an open state, forms the screen surface of the screen.
- the umbrella surface is the surface exposed to the elements and forms a barrier to protect people or objects beneath or behind the umbrella surface from the elements.
- weather or environmental influences can include sunlight, rain, wind, and other atmospheric conditions.
- the umbrella can be used as a parasol, umbrella, windbreak, advertising umbrella, or similar.
- the umbrella has a support element with a central guide and a slider which is displaceably mounted on the central guide and which can be moved from a first position to a second position, thereby changing the umbrella from a closed state to an open state.
- a support element with a central guide and a slider which is displaceably mounted on the central guide and which can be moved from a first position to a second position, thereby changing the umbrella from a closed state to an open state.
- the umbrella has a pivotable first spoke articulated to the support element, and a first rod connected to the first spoke and the slider. Because the first rod is connected to both the slider and the first spoke, the angle between the support element and the first spoke can be changed by moving the slider along the central guide on the support element. Thus, by changing the position of the slider, pressure can be exerted on the first spoke, which can be used to flatten the umbrella cover.
- the umbrella cover has at least one first edge guide, in which the first spoke is guided so as to be displaceable along its longitudinal direction.
- the first spoke can thus move essentially freely within the first edge guide, so that it can change its position within the first edge guide when opening or closing the umbrella.
- the first spoke is guided in a sliding or sliding manner. within the rim guide; the first spoke can therefore slide up and down within the rim guide.
- the maximum tension exerted by the spoke on the umbrella cover can also be increased, since the spoke can exert pressure evenly over an extended edge area of the umbrella cover.
- Flat umbrellas known from the prior art usually have rib-like spokes that extend from the support element to an edge area of the umbrella cover and usually exert pressure there at specific points (e.g., by the spoke engaging in an edge pocket of the umbrella cover - in which the spoke is not freely movable - or by the spoke being fixedly attached to an edge end of the umbrella cover).
- the spoke engaging in an edge pocket of the umbrella cover - in which the spoke is not freely movable - or by the spoke being fixedly attached to an edge end of the umbrella cover can exert a high pressure over the entire length of the edge guide of the umbrella cover.
- the length of the first spoke can be limited to the length of the support element without significantly restricting the available canopy area. This is particularly in contrast to umbrellas in which both ends of the first spoke are directly connected to the support element. In this case, the length of the first spoke must correspond to a multiple of the projected length of the (bent) spoke onto the support element in order to achieve a corresponding curvature and thus expansion of the canopy area. An umbrella with a particularly compact design can thus be created.
- the first spoke is at least partially connected to the umbrella cover, so that by changing the angle
- the umbrella cover is stretched between the first spoke and the supporting element.
- the connection between the first spoke and the umbrella cover can be achieved by guiding the first spoke in the first edge guide of the umbrella cover.
- connections between the spoke segments, the rod segments or the segments of the supporting element can be secured by securing elements such as pins, screws, cords, elastic bands, etc.
- the umbrella cover and the first guide can have a recess in the region of the connection between the first rod and the first spoke.
- the recess can be provided in such a way that a edge-side hole is provided in the umbrella cover and that the first edge guide is recessed in the area of the hole or divided into an upper and a lower part.
- the screen may have a drive for displacing the slider along the central guide.
- the drive may be a linear drive, a crank drive, or the like.
- the axes of rotation of the joint between the first spoke and the support element and/or the joint between the second spoke and the support element can be tilted by the angle of attack relative to the longitudinal extension of the support element on its upper side.
- the umbrella cover can extend between the first spoke and the second spoke. In this case, the umbrella cover does not need to be separately connected to the support element, but can be stretched by the spokes alone. This allows for a particularly simple umbrella design. Furthermore, this allows for easier replacement of the umbrella cover.
- the support element can be curved along its longitudinal direction.
- the curvature of the support element also creates a curved shape for the umbrella cover when opened, allowing, for example, an umbrella with an (organic) leaf shape to be obtained.
- Such a curved shape of the support element can also further contribute to the stability of the umbrella.
- the invention further achieves the stated object by a system comprising at least one first umbrella according to one of claims 1 to 18 and a mast, wherein the support element of the first umbrella is connected to the mast.
- the first umbrella For example, it can be mounted vertically or horizontally on the mast, thus providing weather protection in many different application situations.
- the mast can have a mast slider connected to the slider of the first umbrella via a rod.
- the slider By moving the mast slider on the mast, the slider can be displaced from the first position to the second position in the central guide of the first umbrella.
- the mast slider can thus actuate the slider of the first umbrella to open, unfold, or close the first umbrella. This creates a particularly easy-to-use and ergonomic system that enables remote operation of the slider of the first umbrella.
- the system may comprise a second umbrella according to any one of claims 1 to 18, wherein the support element of the second umbrella is connected to the mast.
- the system may also comprise a third or further umbrella according to any one of claims 1 to 18.
- the sliders of the second umbrella, or of each further umbrella, as previously described for the first umbrella can be connected to the mast slider via the rod in order to enable (joint) opening and closing of the umbrellas via the mast slider.
- any desired form of system for protection against the effects of weather can be created in this way.
- a cloverleaf-shaped arrangement of umbrellas can be created, with each individual leaf of the cloverleaf being formed by an umbrella according to the invention.
- the individual umbrellas can be opened or closed separately or jointly by the mast slider(s).
- the individual umbrellas of the system can each have their own umbrella cover.
- all umbrellas of the system can have a common umbrella cover that extends over the entire umbrella surface of the system.
- the mast and the support elements of the first and second umbrellas can be formed as a single piece.
- the support elements of the first and second umbrellas are each the mast itself.
- the central guide of the first and second umbrellas, along with the respective slider for opening and closing the first and second umbrellas, is then provided on the mast.
- the two umbrellas can be located opposite each other on the mast, i.e., at opposite ends of the mast, with the opening directions of the first umbrella and the second umbrella running in opposite directions.
- an umbrella according to one of claims 1 to 18 or according to the embodiments described above can be used as a sunshade, as a vertical sunshade, as a sun sail, as a windbreak, as a rainbreak or as an advertising flag.
- an umbrella according to one of claims 1 to 18 can be suitable as a self-supporting umbrella, i.e., as an umbrella that automatically follows the position of the sun.
- the umbrella can have a motorized drive to enable automatic support.
- Such an umbrella can be suitable, for example, for use on the beach, in restaurants, on terraces, or in leisure areas.
- an umbrella according to one of claims 1 to 18 is suitable for use as an attachment umbrella. This can be attached or secured to leisure furniture, such as sun loungers, as well as to vehicles on land or water, such as mobile homes, boats, ships, etc.
- Fig. 1 is a schematic view of an umbrella according to a first embodiment in the open state
- Fig. 2d is a schematic representation of the umbrella from Fig. 1 in the open state
- Fig. 3 is a schematic view of an umbrella according to a second embodiment in the open state
- spokes 3.1, 3.2 are connected to the support element 2 via spacers 18.
- the spacers 18 serve to secure the distance between the spokes 3.1, 3.2 and the support element 2, so that the pressure exerted by the rods 10.1, 10.2 on the spokes 3.1, 3.2 can be fully utilized to stretch the umbrella cover 1.
- the spacers 18 are preferably designed, as indicated in Fig. 1, as reinforced lower free edges 19 of the umbrella cover 1.
- the spokes 3.1, 3.2 each have retaining means 21 at their lower ends, which prevent the spokes 3.1, 3.2 from completely penetrating the edge guides 15.1, 15.2.
- the umbrella 101 according to the second embodiment variant has a central guide 4 in its support element 2, designed as a T-slot 22 (shown in Fig. 4).
- the slider 5 is thus guided in the T-slot 22 with a suitable nut and can be easily fixed in any position by a locking screw 23.
- the required tension in the umbrella cover 1 can be easily and reliably established by the pressure of the rods 10.1, 10.2 on the spokes 3.1, 3.2.
- the central guide 4 can also be designed in the form of other profiles (e.g., FL profile, I-profile, etc.).
- the profile groove can be provided either on the support element 2 or on the slide 5.
- locking or clamping elements can be provided to secure or fix the slide 5 in the central guide 4.
- the support element 2 has locking holes at approximately regular intervals into which a (preferably spring-loaded) pin on the slide 5 can releasably engage.
- the rods 10.1, 10.2 are connected to the slider 5 via ball joints 24. Likewise, the rods 10.1, 10.2 are connected to the spokes 3.1, 3.2 via ball joints 24, as shown in detail in Figs. 4 and 5. As previously mentioned, the recesses 26 in the umbrella cover 1 create space, in particular, for the umbrella cover 1 to slide up along the spokes 3.1, 3.2 when the umbrella is closed. Furthermore, the ball joints 24 at the connection between spokes 3.1, 3.2 and rods 10.1, 10.2 can be accommodated in the recesses 26.
- Fig. 6 shows a detailed view of the upper side 6 of the support element 2. It can be seen that the spokes 3.1, 3.2 are attached to the support element 2 at an angle of incidence 25 relative to the support element 2. This angle of incidence 25 serves to align the spokes 3.1, 3.2 in the case of a curved profile of the support element 2 such that they follow the profile of the support element 2 towards its underside 17, and the umbrella cover 1 assumes an organic and unconstrained shape over the support element 2. Furthermore, the angle of incidence 25 can increase the stability of the umbrella 101, since the curved, roof-shaped profile of the umbrella cover 1 provides greater resistance to acting wind forces.
- the angle of attack 25 is to be understood as the angle between the longitudinal extension 27 of the support element 2 at its upper side 6, i.e., the linear extrapolation of the support element 2 at the upper side 6, and the rotation axis 8 of the joint 7.
- the joints 7 are aligned parallel to the chord between the upper side 6 and the lower side 17 of the support element 2.
- the spokes 3.1, 3.2 can be aligned along the chord and, particularly in the case of a curved or arched support element 2, ensure a particularly stable and robust shape of the umbrella cover 1.
- Figures 7 to 21 show systems 200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212 comprising one or more screens according to different embodiments of the invention.
- systems 200-212 reference is made to the above statements regarding screens 100, 101, which are also applicable to screens 102-122 of systems 200-212.
- Fig. 7 shows a system 200 according to a first embodiment, which comprises a screen 102 and a mast 50.
- the mast 50 also has a base 51 for secure installation.
- FIG. 8 shows a system 201 according to a second embodiment variant with an umbrella 103 and a mast 50, wherein the support element 2 of the umbrella 103 is rotatably and/or pivotably connected to the mast 50 via a joint 52.
- the joint 52 is, in particular, attached to the mast slider 54, thus enabling height adjustment of the umbrella 103 along the (vertical) mast 50.
- FIGs. 9 and 10 systems 202, 203 according to a third embodiment variant and according to a fourth embodiment variant are shown schematically.
- the shade 104 can be brought into a vertical orientation via the joint 52 with its rods 10.1, 10.2 and spokes 3.1, 3.2.
- the support element 2 protrudes horizontally from the mast 50. This allows the creation of a shading element with a vertically oriented shade surface, which is suitable, for example, for shading balconies or loggias.
- the system 203 in Fig. 10 has two screens 105, 106 and a mast
- FIG. 11 shows a system 204 according to a fifth embodiment of the invention in a partially open side view.
- the system 204 comprises a screen 107 and a mast 50 with a base 51.
- the support element 2 of the umbrella 107 is slidably mounted above the mast 50, so that the position of the umbrella 107 on the mast 50 can be changed depending on the incidence of sunlight.
- a central slider 54 which is rigidly or integrally connected to the support element 2, the position of the support element 2 on the mast 50 can be changed.
- the support element 2 and the mast 50 have the same arched shape, so that the support element 2 in its lowest position can essentially completely accommodate the mast 50.
- the screen 107 is then essentially vertical and can thus provide efficient shading or wind protection when the sun is low (e.g. in the evening or morning hours).
- a system 205 according to a sixth embodiment of the invention is shown in a partially open schematic side view.
- the system 205 comprises a screen 108, a mast 50 with a base 51, and a mast slider 54 guided on the mast 50.
- the mast 50 and the support element 2 are designed in a less curved arch shape (compared to the system 204), with the spokes 3.1, 3.2 extending straight from the upper side 6 of the support element 2 in the direction of the underside 17.
- the spokes 3.1, 3.2 thereby define an imaginary plane containing the lower edge 16 of the umbrella cover 1.
- a system 206 according to a seventh embodiment of the invention is shown in a partially exploded schematic view.
- the system 206 is constructed equivalently to the system 205 of Fig. 12, with a screen 109, a mast 50 and a base 51, reference being made to the above explanations.
- the umbrella 109 has a support element 2 with a substantially identical curvature or a substantially identical arc radius as the umbrella 108 from Fig. 12.
- the spokes 3.1, 3.2 do not run straight and do not span a plane, but rather enclose an acute angle, so that the umbrella cover 1 is stretched like a roof over the support element 2.
- FIG. 15 schematically illustrates a system 208 according to a ninth embodiment variant with an umbrella 111.
- the system 208 again has a mast 50 with a base 51.
- the support element 2 of the umbrella 111 is rigidly connected to the mast 50 via an angle 57, so that the support element 2 protrudes substantially horizontally from the vertical support element 2.
- the support element 2 has a slight inclination relative to the horizontal to allow water to drain away.
- a system 209 according to a tenth embodiment variant with a screen 112 is shown in a partially cut-away view. As previously explained for system 208, the support element 2 of the screen 112 is rigidly connected over an angle
- a system 210 according to an eleventh embodiment is schematically shown, which comprises two umbrellas 113, 114 arranged around a central mast 50.
- the support elements 2 of the umbrellas 113, 114 are connected to the mast slider 54 via joints 52 so that they can rotate and tilt, with the support elements 2 being oriented in opposite directions around the mast 50.
- a first umbrella 113 is directed to the left
- a second umbrella 114 opposite is directed to the right.
- the mast slider 54 is freely movable on the mast 50, allowing the height of the umbrellas 113, 114 to be adjusted.
- the umbrellas 113, 114 are mirror-symmetrical and are connected to the mast 50 via a rod 55 to enable height adjustment and/or tilting of the individual umbrellas 113, 114.
- the sliders 5 of the umbrellas 113, 114 can each be operated separately. This enables a particularly flexible system 210 in which either one or two umbrellas 113, 114 can be opened.
- At least one central crank 56 is also provided on the mast 50, which is kinematically connected to the sliders 5 of the umbrellas 113, 114 to enable convenient opening and closing of the umbrellas 113, 114.
- the crank 56 can optionally be coupled to the sliders 5 of both umbrellas 113, 114 - for example, by means of a cable or a belt - which, however, is not shown in detail in the figures.
- the crank 56 can also be optionally connected to the slider 5 of the first umbrella 113 or the slider 5 of the second umbrella 114 to enable separate opening and closing of the umbrellas 113, 114.
- a system 211 according to a twelfth embodiment is shown in a schematic axonometric view. Reference is made to the above explanations regarding the system 210 in Fig. 17, which also apply in an analogous manner to the system
- the screens 115, 116, 117, 118 can also be opened and closed together by a crank 56.
- the four umbrellas 119, 120, 121, 122 are arranged clockwise around the mast 50, with the support elements 2 forming an angle of 90° to each other.
