Abstract

A high frequency silent corona discharge for ozonising air or O2 derives from two concentric open-ended tubes, sealed from each other. Air/O2 flows in one tube, and the cooling water -which also provides the earth electrode, flows in the other tube. The inner tube is of quartz glass or other refractory material permeable to UV. In one embodiment, the inner electrode (2), coupled to the high tension supply, is formed as a helix, and may be frictionally gripped in the inner tube (1), through which the air/O2 flows, while cooling water flows between inner and outer tube (5). In one possible variation the helical electrode grippingly engages the outside of the inner tube in which the cooling water flows.
