Abstract

The process for improving quality of lubricant bases for use in formulating industrial oils e.g. rubber extenders, turbine hydraulic and insulating oils, consists of treatment with hydrogen at less than 100 atmos., flow rate below 500 litres per litre of lubricant, with specific catalysts of nickel-molybdenum on alumina as carrier. - The catalysts show high activity in eliminating sulphur cpds. and low cracking activity, giving increased quality and yields.
