Abstract

The invention relates to an improved process for the chrome-tanning of pelts from animal skins and hides, which process is suitable for recycling, including deliming and bating. The process starts with deliming, followed by a bate of recycled, spent chrome liquors without further addition of salt, and the chrome-tanning is then carried out with the smallest possible use of chrome-tanning agent in each case, with the proviso that, in all process steps, masking means are present and, with closed recycling, the salt content of the effluents being minimised by introducing the pelts into the salt-containing depleted residual baths.
