Abstract
A subsance which is flame-retardant due to water formation, such as alumina trihydrate, is incorporated in a coating resin, in a proportion of at least 20% of the total weight of the resin, this substance having been previously partially dehydrated by heating to a weight loss which may be situated approximately between 0.5 and 10% of the initial weight, so as to avoid an untimely formation of water which may be detrimental to the behaviour of the coating resin when apparatus coated, such as dry power and electricity distribution transformers, is put to use at its normal "hot" operating temperature.
