Abstract
Improvements in the subject matter of patent of invention 8801824 for a process for obtaining ciprofloxacin (compound of formula I), comprising the fact that oxidation of the intermediate of formula XI < IMAGE > is followed by elimination of the excess of oxidant, yielding a solution which is subjected to in situ hydrolysis, from which an alkaline solution is obtained which gives rise to the compound of formula I by neutralisation. This avoids the production of an acid intermediate. Ciprofloxacin is a highly effective bactericidal agent.
